HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician

Chapter 106 Arrangement of the 3rd Academic Year

The Dementor Stone was being broken down bit by bit, and Teach Carl, with his one gold and one black eye, stared intently at the process of its decomposition within the analysis array.

But in the end... the stone was broken down like that.

It was broken down... until nothing was left, absolutely nothing was left.

Teach's petrifying eyes widened, trying to find the energy extracted from the decomposition of the Dementor Stone, but to no avail.

"Impossible, this is impossible! It doesn't make sense!" Teach spread his Petrifying Eyes' ability to see through magic throughout the entire secret laboratory, trying to find the energy behind the decomposition of the stone, but still found nothing.

According to the law of conservation of energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed out of thin air.

Even the magical energy used by wizards is traceable, but Teach found this result somewhat unacceptable.

It is unacceptable that the Dementor Stone yielded no energy after being decomposed and extracted from the transmutation circle.

At this moment, Hermione approached, bringing with her questions about the 'Life' analysis transmutation array experiment, and reported, "Teacher, my analysis array... yielded no results."

"The Dementor Stone has no structure of matter, not even the structure of stone."

"There was no life there either. It felt to me like a death that was even deeper than death itself."

After thinking for a while, Hermione said, "It's dead, but it also seems... like it's alive. How strange, teacher!"

"It's not just you who finds it strange, I find it strange too," Teach said, his hands gripping the labyrinth table, his face flushed with anger as he stared at the analytical array on it: "It makes no sense, I can't understand it..."

If the Dementor's body parts, which I petrified with my Petrifying Eye, contain no energy, how did they come to form a substantial black-robed ghost?

How do Dementors 'live' if there is no energy?

[If there is no energy, how are they produced?]

Furious, Teach calmed himself down and sat down, staring intently at the magic orb that was bound by layers of magic and spells.

Looking inside, one sees the Dementors wandering about after their failed attempts to escape.

......

The night passed without incident.

Hermione went back to the girls' dormitory to sleep.

Shake returned to Teach's office to rest.

Meanwhile, Teach was alone in the secluded laboratory, resting with his eyes closed.

Having failed to make progress in his research on the Dementors, Teach decided to put it aside for now and make good use of his time so as not to get stuck in a dead end.

During his three years at Hogwarts, Teach Carr still had a lot to do.

The McFastie family's centuries-long experiments, which Teach developed based on magic, are known as biomagic.

This bio-magic is the key to Teach's awakening of his own 'Origin Magic'. Whether he can break through the bottleneck and enter the rank of 'Classic' magician depends on this bio-magic.

After all, humans are also living beings.

Biological magic plays a vital role, and as Teach's magic becomes more sophisticated and diverse, it poses an increasing threat to the wizarding world's magical system. Teach could foresee that the day of confrontation was not far off.

As things stand now, Dumbledore has already become wary and prejudiced against Teach, and is alert to Teach's powerful magical abilities.

Therefore, bio-magic can help Teach so that he is not fighting alone.

There's also 'celestial magic'.

Teach dared not presume to claim that he could develop this magic series within a year, so the first step was to brainstorm among the young wizards at Hogwarts and draw the first step of the Celestial Alignment Array.

Only after this training array is drawn can the experiment of constructing a magic channel be carried out on the body of the Dragon Witch 01.

Finally, based on the celestial formation array, a magic channel is used to connect with the celestial bodies to absorb energy, thus realizing this celestial 'grand magic trick'.

Then there's the 'bat blood poison' inside Teach, which could turn him into a vampire at any time.

While it's appealing to vampires to use blood as currency and absorb the lives of others to achieve immortality, it would cause Teach to lose her human identity.

Although humans are incredibly fragile, it is precisely because they are weak that they can embrace all things and, while preserving their own essence, gradually become stronger.

Becoming a vampire means losing this limitless potential of humanity.

Vampires are bound by the inescapable shackles of bloodsucking and sunlight, while humans have no such biological constraints.

This is why Teach Carl remained steadfast in maintaining his 'human' identity in the face of temptation.

The first day of the third year at Hogwarts.

The first class of the day was Defense Against the Dark Arts, a magic class taught by the newly appointed Professor Lupin.

Lupin was a truly capable man. His teaching method never involved having young wizards learn about black magic defense from spellbooks; instead, he had them practice black magic defense firsthand.

So, Teach put aside his magic experiment plans and followed Hermione to the lecture after leaving the Chamber of Secrets.

In this first lesson, Professor Lupin wanted to teach the young wizards how to deal with magical creatures, namely—Boggarts.

Through Lupin's explanation of this magical creature, Teach learned about this rare animal.

Boggarts are a black mist, without substance or form. They can instantly see through people's fears and then transform into everything and everything you fear most, even the environment.

The level of danger of Boggarts is determined by the terrifying things they transform into.

The young wizards lined up under Professor Lupin's guidance, and then came the pre-battle instruction: "Force yourself to overcome your fear, then wave your wand and chant the spell 'Funny Funny'."

"Then... first student, please take out your wand and step forward two steps."

After Lupin finished explaining to the young wizard and opened the box, Teach saw the Boggart appear and thought he had seen a Dementor.

Boggart transformed the young wizards' fears into all sorts of things and objects, leaving Teach utterly bored: "Sigh, they're just a bunch of carefree little brats who know nothing of danger!"

Teach had hoped to relax after studying magic and see something different that the young wizards feared in this class, but none of the things Boggart conjured up caught her eye.

Teach only glanced at the Dementor that Boggart transformed into in front of Harry; otherwise, he spent the rest of the class looking out the window, idly pondering his magic experiments.

“Hermione Granger…Miss Granger, please come forward.”

Lupin called out Hermione's name, causing Detitch to turn his head and look at her, eager to know what his only magician disciple feared.

At the same time, Lupin was also eager to know what it was that could frighten this talented, brave, and fearless young wizard.

The encounter with the Dementors on the magic train was a truly astonishing and shocking experience for Hermione.

Just as Lupin was about to reopen the box, Hermione spoke up anxiously, "Professor, can I refuse this magical defense exercise against the Boggarts?"

This statement puzzled Lupin, and it also puzzled Teach, who was sitting at the back of the classroom.

Lupin didn't believe that the fearless genius Hermione Granger in his mind would be afraid to face her fears, so he shook his head slightly and said, "Miss Granger, as far as I know, the Defense Against the Dark Arts class in the first and second years is simply a waste of two precious years of your time."

"Therefore, when Headmaster Dumbledore invited me to become the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, he requested that I make up for the first and second year courses you took."

"Therefore, as a professor, I do not want Miss Granger to miss any knowledge about defense against the dark magic."

Lupin's firm rejection of Hermione's refusal was partly to gauge Hermione's fears so that he, as the professor, could help her overcome them.

But more often it was dark magic. He wanted Hermione to understand the harmful effects of dark magic on people's character, to make Hermione realize the seriousness of the problem, and thus stop using dark magic.

This is a professor's pure and kind intention towards his student.

Although Lupin was unaware that Hermione possessed a Mystic Code called 'Heart Chain' on her wrist, which could protect her from the effects of dark magic.
