Imprisoning the Black Moonlight
Chapter 72 Do I look like a man who can be threatened?
She only drank half a glass of milk before shoving the glass into the man's hand, saying, "I'm not drinking anymore!"
"Okay!" Hong Jin placed the cup on the bedside table and affectionately ruffled her hair. "Shall we go eat?"
Yao Gongyue suddenly found his nonchalant attitude annoying, as if she were an unreasonable child who always seemed to have everything under control and that her reasonable demands were unreasonable.
She pushed away the man's large hand, stood at the head of the bed, her smooth apricot-colored silk slip dress cascading to her ankles, her long hair flowing down to her waist, her long, dark eyelashes casting long shadows, her eyes rosy, her nose red, even her chin flushed pink, her misty, angry eyes fixed on him.
"Hong Jin, I'm not discussing this with you, I'm informing you, giving you an ultimatum: let me go back, or else, or else I will truly hate you!"
She was genuinely angry, her cold and beautiful face displaying a resolute determination to go all out.
But the man opposite him laughed.
He shook his head, chuckled softly, a long, drawn-out laugh, and slipped a large hand under her nightgown, caressing her slender calves up and down.
Yao Gongyue was stunned for a moment, not knowing what he was laughing at. The more she listened, the angrier she became. She stretched out her foot and kicked his arm hard. "What are you laughing at?"
Hong Jin stood up, his tall frame instantly reducing Yao Gongyue's spatial advantage to almost nothing. He looked up at her for two seconds, then reached out, put his arm around her slender waist, and pulled her into his embrace. "Do I look like a man who can be threatened?"
She swallowed hard, not even daring to look at the man.
He's not, of course he's not. He's just a bully, a scoundrel, a fascist!
The little coward was terribly flustered and stammered, "Why, why? I have the right to decide anything for myself, including who I marry and where I live. You, you're depriving me of my personal freedom. Yes, it's illegal."
"Baby!" The man spread her legs apart with his large hands, making her sit firmly on his strong waist. He spoke each word with confidence and arrogance, "Then you can sue me. Do you need me to hire a lawyer for you?"
With one sentence, he ended all her escape routes. He was not afraid; he was not afraid of anything. From the day she met him, she had never seen this man afraid of anything.
Yao Gongyue had no doubt that in Hong Jin's eyes, murder, arson, and other illegal and criminal acts were only a matter of whether it was necessary to do them, and never a matter of whether he could do them!
The girl was speechless and choked with emotion, turning her face away hesitantly.
The man's handsome face darkened. "Alright, enough fooling around. I've arranged for people to go and take care of your family. Nothing will go wrong. Just wait for me to finish this busy period and I'll take you back, okay?"
Yao Gongyue glared at him, pushed against his chest with her small hands, and broke free from him, huffing, "You take care of them? What right do you have to take care of them? Do you think they would want to be taken care of in exchange for their children lying down? You bastard!"
The distraught girl shoved the man hard. Hong Jin, completely caught off guard, took two steps back. The next second, Yao Gongyue was already crying and running out barefoot.
"Yueyue~" The man's brows furrowed tightly, and he strode out to chase after her.
She ran very fast, her vision blurred by tears. As she rushed down the stairs, she didn't see clearly, missed a step, and fell straight down the stairs.
"what happened?"
The expected pain did not come. She landed in a strong, muscular chest. Hong Jie entered the room just in time to see her rushing down from the second floor. Before he could even open his mouth, he saw her slip and her head was about to hit the railing. His hands moved faster than his brain reacted. He rushed forward and caught her in his arms. He met her blurry, tearful eyes and asked her with a worried frown.
"Hong Jie!" The man who chased after her, his handsome features filled with a fierce aura, snatched her away, pulled her into his arms, and held the back of her head with one hand. His dark eyes stared at his tactless cousin, "What are you doing here?"
"I've come to see Yueyue!" Hong Jie's tone was equally unfriendly. "She was terrified today; you shouldn't have made her cry!"
Hong Jin's dark eyes gradually turned deep and terrifying, and a chilling aura began to emanate from his body. His tone was icy as he said, "Is it any of your business to interfere in my affairs?"
Two males, their eyes locked, a tension simmering beneath the surface.
Hong Jie clenched his fists tightly at his sides, desperately suppressing the agitation in his chest.
Hong Jinhan's eyes gradually flashed with a sharp light, and his gaze became increasingly sinister.
Yao Gongyue didn't have time to delve into their argument. She angrily twisted her waist and broke free from the man's embrace, heading towards the door.
"It's getting dark, where are you going?" Hong Jin grabbed her fair wrist, his voice filled with helplessness.
"Don't I even have the right to go out?" She tried to shake off the man's large hand, but to no avail.
"It's too late. I'll take you out tomorrow. Let's grab something to eat first, okay?"
"No, I want to get out of here right now. I don't want to stay in this awful place for even a minute or a second!" She tried to shake off his hand, but she couldn't. She was angry and anxious, stomped her feet, and tears streamed down her face.
Hong Jie pursed his lips. "She wants to go out. What's wrong with letting her clear her head?"
Hong Jin's patience was completely exhausted. He grabbed his cousin's collar, pressed him against the side wall, and used his elbow to control his neck. His scarlet wolf eyes stared intently into his cousin's equally furious eyes. Their eyes met, and a tense atmosphere filled the air.
"Hong Jie, you should know what the consequences are for coveting what you shouldn't!"
Hong Jie's mind was in chaos. He knew he shouldn't have provoked Hong Jin, and he knew he was no match for her. But his heart was completely out of control. Since when did he become so intolerant of seeing her suffer?
Shouldn't I be thinking about it? What exactly does it mean that I shouldn't be thinking about it?
The Hong family has always taught its children and grandchildren the wolf pack principle: survival of the fittest, the capable take the lead. He can't be coveted because he's not strong enough, right?
"I'm just here to apologize to her. In the end, today's events were caused by me!" Hong Jie suppressed the turmoil in his heart and spoke to ease the atmosphere.
Hong Jin's wolf-like eyes swept across his face like icy blades, then he glanced at the little guy standing there dumbfounded, took a deep breath, furrowed his brows, and patted his cousin's resolute face. "You'd better remember what I said!"
Hong Jie chuckled to himself, gave his cousin a meaningful look, and then turned to look at Yao Gongyue.
"I'm sorry, those people today misunderstood our relationship. They thought that by kidnapping you, they could make me hand over their leader. I apologize, I was frightened!"
Yao Gongyue frowned. "Because of you? Kidnapping me? Are they out of their minds?"
Hong Jie's composure crumbled instantly, his smile turning helpless, the sinister look between his brows vanishing. "Yeah, I think so too. If they kidnapped you, they'd have to ask A-Jin for an entire arsenal to make it worthwhile. Trading you for a mere drug dealer is really brainless."
"Am I that valuable?" She sniffed dismissively, glaring at Hong Jie. A second later, she reacted, her beautiful eyes widening in disbelief.
"Drugs, drugs, drug dealers?" The girl's voice was almost choked with sobs as she uttered the last word, her eyes darting around in confusion. "Kidnapped, kidnapped by drug dealers?"
Her fingers were weak, and she reached out to hold onto the railing, but Hong Jin picked her up by the waist. "Yes, drug dealers, and they have accomplices on the run. Didn't you want to go out? Put on your shoes and let's go for a walk. If we're lucky, we might run into them!"
"Waaaaah..." Yao Gongyue frantically wiped away the tears that had welled up with the back of her hands, her lips trembling, "I won't go anymore, I, I'll never go again!"
The man strode up and carried her to the bedroom upstairs. The door had barely closed a second when it was opened from the inside. Yao Gongyue threw a cushion out and yelled at Hong Jie, "Hong Jie, stay away from me from now on, you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the man grabbed her and pulled her inside. "Quiet down, go take a shower. I need to talk to Hong Jie about something!"
