Imprisoning the Black Moonlight

Chapter 3 I'll Take Responsibility for the Consequences

In the grand main hall of the official residence, the nearly eighty-year-old former prime minister sat in his high seat. Though the beast had aged, its might remained undiminished. Looking at his agitated eldest grandson, his tiger-like eyes narrowed slightly.

"Your father has just taken office, and various forces are stirring up trouble. It is a time of great crisis, a time of life and death. At this time, no matter how important the matter is, you must put the family first!"

How could his thoughts be hidden from the old man who had raised his grandson with his own hands? The old man had experienced turbulent and brutal struggles and ultimately led his family to fight their way out. He patted his eldest grandson on the shoulder.

“Ah Jin, your grandfather was young once too. Back then, for your grandmother, he picked up a homemade gun for the first time and killed someone. Once that gun was fired, it was for life. Although times have changed, men in this world are nothing more than righteousness and personal feelings. The Hong family can have one more playboy troubled by love, but the enemy may not be able to tolerate a Hong family with no future!”

The old man didn't need to say it aloud; the eldest grandson knew perfectly well.

The Hong family may seem to be living a life of endless glory, but in reality, they are like horses running on the edge of a vat; one wrong step and the entire family will be doomed.

Hong Jin, with a cold face, took out a cigarette from the table and smoked in front of his grandfather for the first time.

Hongpa looked at his grandson, a gratified smile appearing on his deeply lined face. "My Ajin has grown up and should take on the responsibilities of a man. If you have the chance, bring that girl to your grandfather's place. Let's see which fairy has descended to earth and can win over our young master's heart."

Hearing his grandfather's words, Hong Jin's expression relaxed slightly, and he smiled faintly, "She's very cute and mischievous. Grandfather, you'll definitely like her!"

"You've always been thoughtful and quiet since you were little. I always thought it was because I, this old man, was too dull, which made you mature beyond your years. Having a lively girl around would bring you some vitality!" The old premier joked with his eldest grandson with a kind smile.

Hong Jin had always been close to his grandfather. On a whim, he took out his phone, opened the photo album, put the reading glasses on his grandfather's head from the coffee table, and enthusiastically showed his grandfather photos of Yao Gongyue. The entire album was full of her photos, and he showed them to the old man one by one.

“Grandfather, look, this is the granddaughter-in-law I found for you, a Chinese woman, isn’t she beautiful!” He was like a naive young man who had just entered the world of business, without his usual deep and sharp demeanor. His dark eyes shone brightly when he looked at the girl he liked.

"Her name is Yao Gongyue. She studies at the art college across from our school, majoring in ballet. She has a very cute personality, like a cat. She's easily teased and gets pricked up. She loves beauty and is incredibly good at being charming. You have no idea how amazing she is when she's being charming. The first time we met..."

Watching his exceptionally handsome grandson, like a high school student experiencing love for the first time, talking incessantly about his beloved girl, the old premier felt increasingly suffocated.

Having weathered many storms and seen countless people, how could he not tell that his grandson was deeply entangled in love and unable to extricate himself? And that girl was indeed a rare beauty, but her eyes and brows always carried a clear-headed indifference. Even when she smiled radiantly beside the eldest grandson, the corners of her lips remained flat, and her body unconsciously exuded a sense of detachment.

"Ah Jin!" Hongpa interrupted her grandson, "You really like this girl?"

“Yes, Grandfather, the moment I saw her, I knew she was meant to be my wife!” Hong Jin said with a blissful expression. “The day she agreed to be my girlfriend, I was so happy I couldn’t sleep all night! Grandfather, when Grandmother agreed to marry you, did you feel the same way?”

Hongpa patted his eldest grandson on the shoulder, "Back then, your grandfather was such a poor boy that he couldn't even afford shoes. Your grandmother didn't look down on him. Her biggest wish was for him to become a craftsman in the village so that he could support the whole family."

Hong Jin understood the implication in her grandfather's words and laughed, "She does like money. She often tells me, 'We were never meant to be, it's all thanks to your money.' But, grandfather, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. First of all, I have money, and money is a part of me."

Secondly, she was very open. Other women might be after money, but they wouldn't say it outright; they'd just put on a show of deep affection. She was different. She kept saying, "I feel my money is more precious than me!"

At this point, Hong Jin shook his head. "You could say she's stupid, but when it comes to causing trouble, she's more cunning than anyone else, with all sorts of tricks that I can't handle at all. You could say she's shrewd, but she doesn't even pretend. She's always been open and honest about what she likes and dislikes."

Seeing Hong Jin's heartbroken state, Hong Pa felt a sudden alarm bell ring in her heart and asked, "What about her? Does she love you? Is she willing to give up everything in China and come here to live with you for the rest of her life?"

Hong Jin looked at his grandfather and smiled, "She's willing to be my girlfriend, of course she loves me. After we get married, I'll buy a house in China and go back to live with her for a while every year. Usually, her mother and aunt can live there."

"Ah Jin!" The old prime minister looked at his eldest grandson solemnly and said seriously, "Promise your grandfather that no matter what, you must take it as your responsibility to protect the Hong family and safeguard the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and its people. You must never let personal feelings for your children interfere with the greater good of the country!"

Hong Jin nodded, "Grandfather, rest assured. You have raised me with your own hands and should know me well. My mission is to serve my family and country. Yuebao is the person I want to protect for the rest of my life. I can be a good descendant of the Hong family, a good husband to Yuebao, and a good father to our future children. I will take you as my role model and do my best to protect everything I care about!"

Looking at his eldest grandson, Hong Pa seemed to see his younger self again. Among all his descendants, Hong Jin was the one whose temperament was most like his. Hearing him say this, the old prime minister felt at ease.

The eldest grandson is handsome and has a refined appearance. He is an outstanding figure in the top aristocratic circles of Southeast Asia. After graduating from high school, he went to West Point Military Academy and later obtained a master's degree in economics in Europe. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in philosophy in country Y. He is fluent in five languages, controls all of the family's overseas investment projects, and is so handsome that even celestial fairies would be attracted to him.

Thinking of this, Hongpa chuckled to himself, realizing he was truly getting old, his mind clouded by concern for even the smallest things concerning his children and grandchildren.

"Alright, if you're in a hurry, settle your affairs as soon as possible. I'll talk to your father and your second uncle, and you can go back next Monday!"

The elderly are always exceptionally tolerant of their grandchildren.

"Yes, thank you, Grandfather!" Hong Jin clasped his hands together, bowed his head, lightly touched his brow with his fingertips, and respectfully withdrew.

Feeling upset tonight, I simply returned to my private villa.

After sitting down on the sofa, I turned on my phone again and dialed Hong Jie's number.

"Ah Jie, where are you now?"

Hong Jie replied irritably, "Where else could it be? Aivist Academy, of course. We can't really let that Ouyang Xu steal your girl!"

"Thanks!" Hong Jin said casually, then narrowed his dark eyes. "If he dares to have any improper thoughts, chop him up. I'll take responsibility for the consequences!"
