Imprisoning the Black Moonlight
Chapter 168 Help me remove the bullet!
"Yuebao, it's going to rain soon, we have to hurry!" Hong Jin grabbed her hand and hurried into the deeper part of the forest.
The rain in the rainforest comes suddenly and violently. In less than ten minutes, large raindrops were already pattering down, making a dripping sound as they hit the broad leaves. The two of them were soaked to the bone.
"Yuebao, can you still hold on?" Hong Jin wiped his face and turned around to ask.
Yao Gongyue was already panting, but she still gritted her teeth and hummed in agreement.
"This rain will probably last all night. Let's walk around a bit more and find a place with denser foliage so we can rest!" After he finished speaking, he put his big hand around her waist, and Yao Gongyue was practically carried by him, with little effort in her legs.
Finally, they reached a place that wasn't too damp, and Hong Jin put her down. "This place is quite secluded. We'll rest here tonight. Yuebao, sit here quietly."
"Where are you going?" Instinctively, she grabbed the man's sleeve, her voice trembling with nervousness.
Hong Jin smiled and patted her head. "Don't be afraid, I won't leave you. I'll just gather some leaves and build a shelter. Otherwise, your body won't be able to take the rain all night."
The temperature in the rainforest rises and falls rapidly. During the day, the sun beats down, making it unbearably hot and humid, but when it rains, it gets bitterly cold, which her small body simply cannot withstand.
"But you're still injured!"
"It's nothing, just a minor injury!" the man said, patting her hand and signaling her to wait patiently.
The crisp sound of a knife chopping leaves echoed around. Before long, Hong Jin had carried a pile of leaves as tall as a person to his feet. Using the surrounding terrain and tall trees, he built a simple shed that could accommodate two people. He quickly brushed aside the damp and rotten leaves at his feet, and found that the bottom layer of rotten leaves was actually dry.
The man parted the damp leaves around him, piled them into a clump, and took out a lighter from his pocket.
I had been soaking in the river for quite a while, and the lighter just wouldn't light.
He smashed the lighter with the handle of his knife, poured the fuel inside onto strips of cotton cloth torn from his clothes, and then deftly disassembled the internal parts.
I don't know how he did it, but after a click, a tiny red dot appeared in the darkness, like static electricity generated by friction.
One, two, three...
Finally, with a "boom," the strip of cloth was ignited, and thick smoke billowed from the pile of dead leaves.
By the firelight, Yao Gongyue could finally see the man in front of her clearly. His handsome face was deathly pale, his lips were white, and his wet, tousled hair was still dripping water. He was completely unlike the elegant, noble, and handsome man he was during the day, but he had a different kind of resolute temperament and a more masculine and wild charm.
"Come here, Yuebao, come closer. Let me dry your coat first and then you can change into it. Sit by the fire so you don't catch a cold!" Hong Jin took off his coat and draped it over a branch propped up by the fire. Then he walked over to her and tenderly pulled her into his arms.
He was only wearing a white shirt. As soon as she got close, Yao Gongyue smelled a strong odor of blood. She anxiously pulled his hand away to check his wounds.
"Hong Jin, your wound is still bleeding..." Her voice trembled slightly as she touched the blood-soaked strip of cloth with her fingertips, unable to imagine the horrific scene beneath it.
The man breathed heavily and gritted his teeth, saying, "Yuebao, my wound needs to be treated."
He swallowed hard, turned his head, and looked at her with deep, dark eyes, his gaze filled with suppressed encouragement. "Can you help me remove the bullet? Do you dare?"
Tears blurred her vision. The girl wiped her face hard, gritted her teeth, and nodded, "Yes! I dare!"
"That's impressive!" The man smiled, ruffled her wet hair, then took out a military knife, heated it over a fire, and handed it to her. "Here, use the tip of the knife to cut open the surrounding flesh, reach inside, and pry the bullet out. Don't be afraid!"
Yao Gongyue took the knife, her fingers trembling. She looked at him with moist eyes, her lips almost bleeding from being bitten. "Okay, turn around, I'll untie the strips of cloth first."
She thought she could do it. Although she had mentally prepared herself and countless bloody scenes from movies flashed through her mind, all her previous mental preparations collapsed when the bloody, oozing wound suddenly appeared before her eyes.
Too cruel.
She had never seen anything like it before; a bullet lodged deep in the flesh looked so cruel, far more gruesome than any scene in the movies she had ever seen.
"Don't be afraid, baby. Luckily, it was just a regular bullet. If it had been something else, my internal organs would have been blown apart!"
How could he still laugh?
Yao Gongyue frowned, let out a long sigh, and said, "Alright, don't say anything, I'm going to start!"
She paid no heed to his joke; her heart ached with sharp pain. She closed her eyes, regulated her breathing, and then, gritting her teeth, plunged the knife into the dark, bloody hole in the man's body.
Hong Jin's muscles tensed up, thick blue veins bulged on his forehead and neck, the wisps of hair hanging over his brow trembled slightly, and he let out a heavy groan, his handsome face instantly contorting.
Yao Gongyue was also covered in sweat. She kept silently repeating to herself, "Calm down, stay calm..." But as the knife tip went in inch by inch, she couldn't feel any resistance from the metal.
“Hong Jin, I can’t find him…” Blood kept gushing out, his entire back and Yao Gongyue’s hands were covered in blood. It was too horrible. She finally couldn’t hold back anymore and shook her head while crying.
"Let's search deeper, baby, don't be afraid!" The man panted heavily, closing his eyes to adjust his breathing, not wanting to scare her. The pain had almost drained him completely, but he was still trying his best to stay awake.
The distraught girl gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and forcefully stabbed the knife a few more inches deeper. Finally, a strange sensation flashed in her hand. "I think I've found it, Hong Jin. I don't know if it's it!"
She opened her eyes, her hands were a little weak, and her fingertips trembled even more violently.
"Yes, I can feel it, Yuebao, pick it out!" The man clenched his fists, and beads of sweat dripped from his forehead into his shirt collar.
Yao Gongyue knew that now was not the time to hesitate. Rather than wavering, she decided to act decisively. With a heavy heart, she slid the tip of the knife along the edge of the bullet, cutting a few inches of flesh, and with a sudden burst of force, she pulled the bullet out.
At that moment, the blood from the wound was almost gushing out, and it couldn't be stopped.
Yao Gongyue panicked, her jaw trembling violently, "Blood... Hong... Hong Jin, the blood... can't be stopped."
"Press it down! Yuebao, press it down with all your might," the man calmly instructed.
Yao Gongyue quickly cut off a large piece of the skirt lining and pressed it onto the fabric without thinking.
Give me the knife!
The man took the knife and threw the blade directly into the fire. He only took it out when the blade was completely red-hot. "Alright, Yuebao, move aside and close your eyes!"
Yao Gongyue didn't know what he was going to do, so she could only do as he said, letting go of his hand and quickly closing her eyes.
stab-
A piercing sound, like water being poured to extinguish a fire, rang out, followed by a man's painful groan. The bewildered girl, smelling a foul burning odor, opened her eyes and, terrified, collapsed to the ground.
"Hong Jin, have you gone mad?"
He actually used a red-hot blade to sew the bleeding wound back together.
"Don't...don't be afraid...Yuebao, the wound is too big, only this way can we stop the bleeding quickly!" The man's face was almost transparently white, his eyes were unfocused, but he still smiled at her when he looked up.
"Come here, there's one more! Take it out for me!"
