Imprisoning the Black Moonlight

Chapter 159 Moon, I can't swear on you.

Behind him, waves crashed against the shore, and colorful lights flickered in the distance. The air was filled with the sounds of music and cheers, but Nuohan's mind went completely blank. His tall body stood there, stiff as a dried-up tree stump, unsure of how to react.

He joined the army at a young age, fighting like a wolf in the jungle. He had no interest in romance or poetry. Asking him to shoot someone was fine, but asking him to sing was worse than taking his life.

The man's sexy Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and his large hands, which had been hanging at his sides, unconsciously clenched into fists. "Moon, Moon, you're mistaken. I can't sing any Cantonese songs at all!"

"How could that be? How could I be wrong? It's the song you sang when you proposed to me, it was so beautiful, I thought you sang it so coolly!"

The girl thought he was shy, or was deliberately teasing her, and grabbed the man's big hand, "Just sing it once! I really want to hear it, okay!"

"Moon," the man's dark eyes trembled with panic, "Listen to me, you really are mistaken, I can't sing!"

"Impossible!" She angrily shook off his large hand, her bright eyes blazing with fury.

"How could I possibly be wrong? That was the day you proposed to me, the happiest day of my life. How could I be wrong!"

She was genuinely angry. Even though she was sick, that song and that scene kept appearing in her dreams. The feeling of happiness she had at that time couldn't have been fake.

"You were glued to your TV show all day, completely absorbed in it. It's not surprising you got the wrong diagnosis when you were sick," the man explained anxiously. "Alright, let's go for a barbecue. I'll grill some squid for you, okay?"

"Hmph! Oh no! You jerk!" She glared at the man, turned around, and ran off without looking back.

"The moon!" The man's brows furrowed, and he quickly followed.

"Don't follow me!" She turned around, snapped at the man, and then stormed off, lifting her skirt in a huff.

The sky was gradually darkening, and the beach, which had been romantic and cozy during the day, now felt strangely eerie with a cool breeze blowing.

The girl sat alone on a large rock by the sea, looking at the dark blue sea, not knowing why she was sad, yet she was overwhelmed with sorrow.

"You bastard! You always bully me, always make me sad, you bastard, you dog of a man, Hong Jin, you're a dog of a man!" She wiped away her tears fiercely before she realized what she had done.

Hong Jin? Who is Hong Jin? Why did I suddenly bring up this name?

It feels so familiar, but I can't quite place it...

She patted her head, feeling as if it had been hollowed out, completely empty.

Not far away, beside a palm tree, stood a tall, imposing man, like a large, wicked dog that had made a mistake. He wanted to go over, but dared not, his dark eyes fixed on her back.

Moon, I'm sorry. I've done many bad things and killed many people. I never thought I could go to heaven after death, but the moment you appeared, you became my heaven.

I've never understood what it means to make someone's wishes come true or to let go. Men, if you like someone, you have to fight for them, grab them, and do whatever it takes to get them. If you manage to get them, then keep them safe. If you can't, then I'm just not good enough, and I deserve to lose my life.

So, in the end, I won, didn't I? Hong Jin is a thing of the past; your future belongs to me.

The girl remained seated there, the light growing dimmer until she was blurred into a shadow, but even that shadow was so beautiful that it was impossible to look away.

"Moon, it's getting chilly. Shall we go back together?"

The man reluctantly approached her and squatted down in front of her. "How about you hit me a couple of times to vent your anger, and then we'll go home, okay?"

"Nohan!" she looked into the man's eyes. "Is there anything you're hiding from me?"

The man clenched his fists tightly and pursed his lips. "No, baby."

"you swear!"

Nuohan looked at her, his Adam's apple bobbing, a throbbing pain in his temples.

"You swear you haven't hidden anything from me. If you lie to me, you'll never get my forgiveness in this lifetime, and we'll never have a good ending!"

"No! Moon, I can't swear on you!" A faint hint of malice crept into the man's gentle eyes.

"So that means you're hiding something from me, right?" she persisted, grabbing the man's sleeve. "Look me in the eyes."

Their eyes met, and a flash of ruthlessness crossed the man's hawk-like eyes. "Moon," his voice was laced with coldness, "Do you really want to cause trouble for me?"

Yao Gongyue just looked at him quietly. There was no denying that his face was handsome, but it was this handsome face that made her unable to feel any intimacy or love.

A dozen seconds later, she smirked, "You're not going to sing for me, and you won't even let me make a fuss?"

The man's heart suddenly sank, and he lowered his head, secretly letting out a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry, I'll go learn, okay? Baby, don't be angry. Whatever you want, I'll learn it, okay?"

"Fine!" She gently pushed the man's brow with her slender fingers. "I know it's hard for you to earn money to support me and so many other people, so I'll reluctantly forgive you!"

"But—" she changed the subject, "don't think I'll let you off the hook like this. If you don't listen, I'll kick you out and replace you, understand?"

"Okay, sure!" He knelt down on one knee, hugged the girl's slender waist, and buried his face in her chest. "Baby, I'll do whatever you say!"

The girl's smile was as cold as ice as she patted the man's broad back. "Nuohan, I knew you were the best. Aren't you the person who loves me the most in the whole world?"

The man felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He looked up, his fiery eyes meeting hers. "Yes! No one loves you more than I do!"

The girl smiled gently, "Now, Your Highness, it's time to return to your residence. Prepare the carriage!"

The man was still not quite used to her strange and quirky manner, but he found it inexplicably cute. He smiled, lowered his eyes, and took her hand. "Okay, let's go!"

……

Upon entering the villa, Yao Gongyue said goodnight and was about to return to her room when the man watched her retreating figure. He took two steps forward and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Yueyue, when can I sleep in your room?"

"Oh dear, as I told you, I haven't been feeling well lately. You know, I'm not in good health." Her nails dug tightly into her flesh, but her tone carried a hint of coquettishness. "Will you listen to me, okay?"

"But, but darling, I, I really want to—"

"Nohan! I'm tired!" Her voice was sweet and coquettish as she hugged the man's arm and said in a sweet and reproachful tone, "Be good! I'll reward you when I'm feeling better, okay? I haven't been sleeping well lately, look at me, my skin is all yellow, can you bear to see me so haggard? Tell me, don't you love me anymore?"

The man's words stuck in his throat, unable to come out. He opened his thin lips, but couldn't utter a single word in rebuttal.

Faced with her like this, he had no way to resist and could only compromise.

"Alright, then you should get some rest. I've had a yacht brought over, and I'll take you out to sea tomorrow morning, okay?"

"Mmm, Nuohan, you're so wonderful. You must be the best boyfriend in the world."

The man smiled helplessly and ruffled her hair. "Go to sleep!"

She nodded obediently and smiled sweetly at him: "Goodnight! Big blockhead!"

The man put his hands in his pockets, raised his chin, and said, "I'll watch you close the door before I leave!"

The hinges creaked softly as the door closed gently.

She didn't lock the door, which means she trusts me!

The man shook his head with a self-deprecating laugh and turned to go into the bedroom next door.
