Firefly Journey

Chapter 35 Ancient God Ruins (4)

The crowd stood solemnly before the ruined palace.

As one extraordinary person after another arrived, Finne Roberts' face turned ashen. She had cursed countless times in her heart, but as her cousin had said, the world did not belong to the Roberts family, and she could only keep her dissatisfaction to herself.

The dusty door was tightly shut, and no one dared to make a move, for an aura of decay and death emanated from it, clearly a restriction left by the master of the Divine Ruins.

Wind Chime stared silently at the gate, lost in thought: "Based on this aura, we can't determine Krumbo's 'profession'."

Each profession has its own specialization, and no profession can acquire abilities through other means. For example, Lin Yuanran is a fire mage, and the divine oracle he can learn is limited to those related to fire.

Of course, it's possible that Klenbo has multiple paths, but everyone has a primary skill, and with such a powerful restriction, a secondary profession probably wouldn't meet the requirements.

“The number of professions available through the Grim Reaper pathway is far less than that of the Church. How about we use the process of elimination?” Fway asked.

"It takes too much time."

As they talked, some of the bolder ones approached the gate, but dared not touch it, fearing an accident.

"Let's go take a look too."

As Fengling and her group approached the gate, the aura of decay grew even stronger.

Feng Ling examined the gate, searching her mind for relevant information: "Curlyan style architecture, a style that was popular a thousand years ago."

"At least it shows we came to the right place," Fwaye chuckled self-deprecatingly.

Compared to those in St. Louis who were merely observing with their eyes, the members of Mechanical Wings appeared much more professional. Steve, a middle-aged man, held a magnifying glass and squinted with his other eye, observing the surroundings with a professional air.

Finne Roberts picked up the pendant again, the crystal-like pendant emitting a faint glow in her hand. Suddenly, she coughed heavily, opened her mouth as if to vomit, but nothing came out.

Seeing this, Jamie Roberts quickly came over and patted her on the back, his face full of pity.

Lin Yuanran took in all of this, and a sense of guilt welled up in his heart. He was a person with a strong sense of morality, and subconsciously he regarded himself as the murderer who had made her suffer.

Shaking his head, Lin Yuanran approached the gate and pretended to examine it. However, having only entered the extraordinary realm a few days ago, how could Lin Yuanran possibly see through any tricks?

"This kind of power is truly the work of a god." Steve put down the magnifying glass and exclaimed.

Hida said, "Should we try to break through it?"

She took out a hand drill, pressed the switch on the handle, and the drill bit immediately started making a very sharp sound.

“You can try it,” Steve said, “if you want to get hit by the counterattack.”

Disappointed, Hilda put down the drill. Just in case, she decided not to try the new invention to avoid getting hurt.

Lin Yuanran was surprised that she could pull out a power drill and didn't know what to say for a moment. These strange and wonderful things could probably only be conceived by Mechanical Wings.

"Ario, you seem troubled." Hauglis patted Lin Yuanran on the shoulder, almost sending him flying. The power of the "Berserker" was truly formidable.

No, I was just surprised… Lin Yuanran didn’t explain anything, but said, “Fengling still can’t do it? This is so unlike her, I always thought…”

"What do you think?" The wind chimes, which were a little further away, heard Lin Yuanran's words. "I've already said it, I'm not omnipotent."

"This is just me showing how much confidence I have in you," Lin Yuanran chuckled. "Maybe you should put a pocket in the front of your clothes, that way I'll feel safe whenever I see you."

Lin Yuanran would keep these complaints to himself and enjoy them in silence. Before figuring out how he came to be in this world, he wouldn't be foolish enough to show anything extraordinary and attract any attention.

Better safe than sorry!

"How about I give it a try?" Hauglis suggested. "We've been waiting outside for ages, when will this ever end?"

“Klenbo’s lingering scent is strong, be careful.” Wind Chime agreed with his advice; often, courage is the key to success.

Hauglis stepped forward and slowly stretched out his hands toward the door.

His actions drew everyone's attention, as they all wanted to know how to open the broken door.

Hauglis's hands swelled up very quickly, as if containing boundless power. After confirming that he was ready, he took a deep breath and nervously approached the door.

In an instant, the hearts of the extraordinary individuals present were in their throats, all eagerly awaiting the outcome.

Some people who considered themselves clever, or perhaps timid, had already quietly retreated a distance, thinking that if there was anything unusual about the door, or if an explosion occurred, it would be safer to be further away.

Squeak.

When Hauglis' hands touched the door, nothing unusual happened. With a soft click, the door opened inwards.

"So simple?"

The same thought popped into everyone's mind. There was a silence for about ten seconds, but nothing unexpected happened.

“I’ll give it a try.” After saying this, Paninger channeled his magic into the inside of the door, while observing everything happening inside.

Inside the pitch-black hall, it seemed not to reject external magical power. After examining it, Paninger said to everyone, "Preliminary assessment: there is no danger."

Upon hearing this, some people were eager to try it out, but no one was willing to be the first to speak out. After all, words are not enough, and everyone wanted others to go and find out for themselves and become guinea pigs.

"These guys..." Finney gritted her teeth, extremely annoyed by the behavior of the people present. "You were the ones who wanted to come along, but now that it's time, you're all cowering and shirking your responsibilities. It's disgusting!"

Others hesitated because they didn't quite believe Paninger's words, but this wasn't the case in St. Louis.

Allen, who had been silent all along, said, "I'll go in first. The shadow told me that it's Krumbo's mausoleum inside."

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Allen walked through the door. One step, two steps, several steps later, those outside could no longer see his back; their vision was limited by the darkness inside.

“Let’s go in too,” Fengling said, following closely behind Allen. She knew that the divine remnants on the gate had lost their effectiveness after being worn down over the long years, and were now just a facade.

Lin Yuanran and the others had absolute faith in Feng Ling. In the blink of an eye, the St. Louis students disappeared into the darkness.

Jamie suddenly laughed and said to his sister, "They're paying it back quickly."

Finne Roberts' mood improved considerably, and his hostility towards these people lessened somewhat.

"Let's go in too."

"it is good."

“It seems that the intuition of young people is more effective than our detection equipment,” Steve said, stepping inside with Hida.

The superhumans, now reassured, surged into the palace as they had followed before.
