Firefly Journey

Chapter 112 Teacher and Students (4)

"This is a matter of common sense."

Cassius Bello didn't know why he asked that question, but he still chose to answer patiently, as a teacher should enlighten students.

"What's your name?"

Lü Jianming said, "Is that even a question?"

Cassius continued, "You have a younger sister who was granted the title of Princess Qingjia a few years ago, and you yourself were made crown prince with the title Zhaowen. Is there any significance to that?"

Lü Jianming said, "This is the custom of the Chu Kingdom. Whenever a royal heir is granted a title, the official in charge of rites will decide on a title, which is usually two characters long."

Cassius smiled and said, "So, they were the same back then. Every era has its popular naming methods. Ten thousand years ago, let alone the seven ancestral gods, even a passerby would mostly have a four-character name."

"I see." Lü Jianming and the others hadn't expected this reason. They had thought there was some deeper meaning, but it turned out to be just the general trend of that era...

The most disappointed person was Lin Yuanran. He was now a bit paranoid, and he felt that everything he saw was related to his own time travel. He was overly sensitive.

“I have something to announce,” Cassius said. “As you all already know, the team that will represent St. Louis next spring will be chosen from among the classes. The specific time will be three months from now, and I hope you will give it your all.”

"Teacher, with the wind chimes here, it shouldn't be too difficult, right?" Faye Marley said dismissively, in a slightly flippant tone, as if the right to represent the academy was already in Class 29's pocket.

Feng Ling turned her head and looked at him. Her eyes were neither fierce nor resentful, but very calm. However, it was this calmness that stopped him from saying what he was about to say.

Sabrina said, "With you here, it will be quite difficult."

Fay wisely shut up. He admitted that what he had just said sounded a bit like he was being generous with other people's money, but that was just the kind of person he was—straightforward and outspoken, saying whatever came to mind, and never really caring about what others thought.

In truth, the wind chimes probably didn't care, but not everyone did. Once outside the classroom, anyone might care.

If Floyd continues like this, he's bound to run into trouble.

Cassius said, "The specific selection rules are unknown, but as long as you are strong enough, I believe that no matter what the rules are, they will not be a reason to hold you back."

Wind Chime is a Level 3 Awakener, a level above all of you, there's no doubt about that. But if you rely on her too much, there are many risks involved.

Class 29 is a class, not a stage for one person.

“I understand…” Fwaye said softly.

Cassius added, “In the next three months, each of you must improve something, either by advancing to a higher realm or by learning more divine oracle knowledge. In short, show me some attitude.”

I probably don't need to elaborate on how to improve it.

Cassius glanced around; the students below had various expressions, but more or less, they all seemed eager to get started.

Class 29 has always been hailed as the strongest class at St. Louis College, and this reputation is not unfounded but earned through hard work and strength.

If one can't even secure a representative qualification, it would be a laughingstock. A sense of honor permeated the small classroom. Even Feng Ling, who seemed indifferent to everything, showed a change in expression, clearly unable to remain unmoved by this matter.

……

The bell rang crisply, signaling the end of the day's classes.

Before leaving, Cassius did not intend to leave immediately, but specifically asked Ario to stay behind alone.

The rest of the group discussed the matter amongst themselves on their way back.

"Is this kid so bad that the teacher is keeping him behind for extra help?" Fway said.

Hauglis said, "It's very possible. Although Ario is quite talented, he hasn't been training for very long. His teacher will probably use special methods to help him improve."

As soon as get out of class ended, Lü Jianming's entire demeanor changed; there was no trace of sleepiness left. He walked between the two, putting one arm around each of their necks.

"Why worry so much? The teacher will naturally make arrangements. Don't concern yourself with trivial matters."

"Come on, come on, this is so boring! How about we go to the Joyful Dance Hall to kill some time?"

Fei Wei replied in the way people from the State of Chu, "That's good, but I'm short of money..."

Hauglis echoed, "So it is."

Lu Jianming said magnanimously, "What are you talking about? Do you think you need to pay for our trip with me?"

"Hey you guys over there, are you going or not?"

"Over there" refers to the other three male students.

Mirashu waved her hand: "I have too many little creatures to take care of, I don't have time."

Allen said, "I should look like a decent person, right? Besides, I'd just be sitting there for a bit, it's pointless."

"My mom is waiting for me to come home for dinner," said Fat Upton.

"This is boring. Let's go as a trio."

"Hey! Have you forgotten about me?!" Paninger yelled. Going out to play without me? What do you mean by that?!

Lu Jianming and the other two exchanged a glance, coughed, and said, "That place is not suitable for girls."

"You don't have to treat me like a girl."

There are many kinds of dance halls, some respectable and some not. Paninger knew that the place they were going to was not respectable, but he still wanted to try.

"Then what should I treat you as?" Lu Jianming said with a smile. "A pet? If your true form were a lizard, it would be fine, I could put you in my pocket, but you're a dragon, the kind that's bigger than a house when you fly, so it's really not going to work."

"Humph."

"Next time, I'll definitely take you somewhere else," Lü Jianming said with a smile, then disappeared with his two companions.

Sabrina said helplessly, "You really shouldn't get involved in this. Let them be. If you're bored, how about coming to my house?"

Sabrina extended an invitation to the sullen dragon girl.

Paninger was intrigued by this. Sabrina's house had many strange and unusual things, which was much more interesting than going to the training ground or back to the dormitory.

"Want to come along?" Sabrina asked Wind Chime again.

"I'm busy," said Wind Chime.

"What are you going to do?"

"Didn't you hear what Cassius said? The qualifying tournament is in three months. Instead of thinking about improving yourselves, you're all just eating, drinking, and having fun. Is that acceptable?"

Sabrina said with amusement, "No, you're the one who usually hates class the most, so why are you being so righteous today..."

"I didn't need to go, my family forced me to. You don't really think going to St. Louis would be useful to me, do you?" Wind Chime blinked.

“It doesn’t seem to be of much use.” Sabrina nodded in agreement.

"I'm running out of time," Fengling said inexplicably.

Sabrina didn't understand what it meant, so she asked, "What?"

"It's nothing," Fengling said.

Seeing that she wouldn't speak, Sabrina didn't ask any further. That's just how Fengling is; if she wants you to know something, she'll tell you, and if she doesn't want you to know, asking won't help.

In classroom 29, Cassius Bello gently spoke to his weakest student: "Do you know why I asked you to stay behind?"

Lin Yuanran shook his head. "How would I know?"
