Firefly Journey
Chapter 103 Young Students in Full Bloom (1)
Night falls, and all is quiet.
After a brief conversation with Mr. Blair, Lin Yuanran was left alone in the room.
Under the dim light, he took out paper and pen from his luggage, laid them out in front of the moonlit window, pondered for a while, and then began to write.
Back in my hometown, I had promised to write to Wendy and Dupippen, and now that I'm finally settled, I naturally want to keep my promise.
The quill pen rustled across the white paper, and line after line of neatly written Bema characters appeared.
Lin Yuanran had a lot to say to Wendy.
He didn't know the other person's progress in their training in Chestanton, but he estimated it was faster than his own, since he had spent his summer in St. Louis saving up for tuition.
In addition, he told her not to overthink things while she was alone in a foreign country, and to write home if she felt lonely or homesick.
Based on current postal efficiency, it would take a month for a round trip from Chernobyl to the remote town of Torreg.
The school competition to be held next year is, to put it bluntly, a contest of new forces from various churches. The God of Machinery and Technology is known as the Eighth Ancestral God and has close ties with the Seven Ancestral God Churches. I believe he will definitely participate, and then we will all be able to meet.
The dense text filled the entire page. Lin Yuanran stopped writing, put it in an envelope, and placed it with the candy jar, waiting to mail it together tomorrow.
St. Louis College doesn't have mailboxes for each dormitory; instead, the college collects mail centrally, and a special mailroom was built for this purpose. Lin Yuanran had visited it during the day, and how should I put it, it was quite similar to the Rookie Station in the original world.
The second letter was to Dupippen.
Lin Yuanran could guess some of the reasons for his father's death from Cassius's attitude.
The cult of evil gods was most likely responsible. Cassius chose to remain silent to avoid causing panic in the town, but he never expected that a child who had lost his father would have such courage to join the Ancient Battle Arena to find the truth.
Lin Yuanran sighed inwardly. After all, they were from the same town, so he should help if he could. He would ask the teacher for clarification when the teacher returned to give lessons.
No, perhaps there's no need to ask him. Back in Torreg, Fway and the others were traveling with him...
They might know something, especially... wind chimes.
Upon hearing this name, Lin Yuanran subconsciously shook his head. Was he going to have to trouble her again? It was really hard to repay favors.
Lin Yuanran crumpled the blank sheet of paper with only the opening greeting written on it into a ball, threw the ball into the trash can, and planned to write it all down and send it to Du Pippen once he figured it out.
It was late at night, and Lin Yuanran, overcome with drowsiness, fell asleep.
……
……
The next day, Lin Yuanran got up in high spirits, washed up quickly, and walked out of the dormitory.
Today is the first day of school in the strictest sense, so I can't be late.
The calendar of the Pangaea world was almost identical to that of Earth, consisting of years, seasons, months, weeks, and days.
The school leadership set the start date of the semester after careful consideration. Today is Monday, and classes will continue until Friday, with a two-day weekend every week.
During the holidays, teachers will also offer professional courses for the corresponding professions. The courses will be posted on the bulletin board outside the training ground, and students who need them can choose to attend.
Normally, the five days are taught by the instructors, but now that Cassius from Class 29 is not here, the theory classes have become self-study periods.
Each class has its own classroom. Sabrina told Lin Yuanran about this yesterday, but she didn't bring him along.
There were signs everywhere on campus, and Lin Yuanran found it easily.
It was still early, and there weren't many students coming and going. Lin Yuanran was dumbfounded when he arrived at the classroom of Class 29. The door was locked, which meant that there was no one inside.
He did have a "convenience key" in his pocket, which would have made opening the door easy, but he felt it would be too impolite, so he didn't do it and just stayed to the side.
About an hour later, when the students in the next class had been in class for several tens of minutes, he finally saw a graceful figure walking over unhurriedly.
Sabrina was clearly surprised to see Lin Yuanran, but quickly recovered and slapped her forehead: "I forgot to mention, if the teacher tells us to study on our own... usually no one will be there on time."
That's the truth. If she weren't the class monitor, she wouldn't have arrived so early. What student would actually study quietly during self-study time, especially without a teacher supervising?
"Huh?" Lin Yuanran was dumbfounded. This supposedly academic elite camp was actually not taking their studies seriously at all? He found it strange.
Sabrina patted him on the shoulder and said he would get used to it. It was okay if he was late in the future, or even if he didn't come at all like Lü Jianming. Cassius meant what he said; if he said he wouldn't show up in the classroom, he definitely wouldn't. He never did surprise checks.
As she spoke, Sabrina took out her key and opened the door.
The classroom, judging from the arrangement of the desks, can accommodate up to forty or fifty people; however, the actual utilization rate is only one-fifth.
"Please make yourself at home, I'll go get your textbooks."
Sabrina walked away slowly, leaving Lin Yuanran alone in the classroom.
He looked around and saw nothing but emptiness. He stood up and walked around, and found that only the first few drawers near the podium had books, which meant that Cassius required them to sit in the front row during class.
Sabrina returned and took many thick books out of her storage artifact, throwing them to Lin Yuanran.
"All the theoretical textbooks are here, just make do with them. If you feel tired, it's okay to leave early." After saying that, Sabrina went to her spot to write and draw.
Lin Yuanran looked around, chose an empty seat, opened one of the books and started reading. The content was simple and easy to understand, nothing more than the condensation of magical power and its corresponding operation. Lin Yuanran already knew this part.
The other books contain introductions to divine oracles and instructions on how to use different magical artifacts.
After some time, the students arrived one after another. Once everyone had arrived, Lin Yuanran knew that his guess was completely correct. Even though there were many empty seats in the classroom, everyone was only crowding at the front, sitting in pairs. It must have been Cassius's way of keeping them in check.
The wind chimes were positioned directly behind Sabrina in the first row. Since it was self-study time, Sabrina naturally turned her head and chatted and laughed.
The two were discussing something when Fengling suddenly turned her head, looking at Lin Yuanran across the aisle with a puzzled expression.
"Don't you have a 'convenience key'? How come you could wait for an hour?"
Lin Yuanran said, "It's my first time teaching, I'm too embarrassed to drive, it feels like I'm a thief."
"You have to live to save face and suffer the consequences."
Sabrina said, "You still have that kind of thing. I have a favor to ask."
Lin Yuanran suddenly sensed something was terribly wrong: "Tell me."
"If you like to arrive early, feel free to open the door; I can come later anyway."
Lin Yuanran: "..."
During their conversation, apart from the Crown Prince of Da Chu, who was certain he wouldn't be attending the self-study session, Paninger was the last to enter the classroom.
"Damn it! That damn security guard, he actually stopped me from getting in!" the dragon girl cursed as she walked.
His deskmate, Fei Wei, asked, "What happened?"
Hauglis revealed a wise look in his eyes: "Trying to fly in is just asking for trouble, what's there to complain about?"
He must have been right, the dragon girl plopped down, sulking.
The academy has a rule that racial talents and magic are strictly prohibited in areas where theoretical knowledge is taught, otherwise chaos will ensue.
