Slayer of Gods: I lied; I became the agent of the Nine Gods.

Chapter 9 Thanks to the Mysterious Person

Lin Qiye sat in the office of the Peace Agency, opposite Chen Muye, the captain of Squad 136.

Because of his status as a representative of the gods, he needed to be recorded in the Night's Watch's files. However, there were too many suspicious things that happened last night, so the investigation was initiated.

Chen Muye stared into Lin Qiye's eyes. The previous basic questions about checking household registration had been answered smoothly. The next questions were the important ones.

"You're saying that Zhao Kongcheng was the one who killed the Ghost-Faced King last night?"

"Yes."

"Only Zhao Kongcheng?"

"……Yes."

"Zhao Kongcheng said you forcibly broke through the [Boundless Void] to enter that place. Were there any other people present at the time?"

Lin Qiye glanced at the notebook Chen Muye was taking notes in. "As I mentioned before, one of my classmates has healing abilities. She happened to be passing by and helped treat Old Zhao."

Chen Muyi said helplessly, "You know that's not what I meant."

Lin Qiye looked completely bewildered: "What does that mean?"

Chen Muye's expression turned serious, even somewhat cold: "Hongying told me that Lao Zhao used the 'Ghost God Guide' he placed in the emblem. Do you know what the consequences will be?"

Lin Qiye paused for a moment, then shook his head.

"The spirits invoked it; after obtaining the power of the forbidden realm, Old Zhao was destined to die, but he has survived..."

Chen Muye raised his hand and rubbed his temples. These two were no pushovers. The older one stammered and hesitated no matter what he asked, while the younger one kept his mouth shut. The two were completely unyielding.

"I haven't reported this matter yet, but I need you to tell me what exactly happened!"

Lin Qiye smiled bitterly to himself, "Old Zhao, how could you let someone exploit even this loophole!"

Although it seemed the captain had already guessed a lot, he still shook his head: "I have nothing to say."

Chen Muye smiled and said, "Actually, I guess there is indeed such a classmate, but what you call 'casual treatment'... for some minor injuries? It's not that simple, is it?"

When Hongying told him that she found the needle on the back of the emblem had been used up while tidying up Lao Zhao's belongings, Chen Muyi could barely hold his pen.

They took Zhao Kongcheng for a thorough examination in the middle of the night.

After confirming that the other party had no problems whatsoever, and that all previous hidden injuries had been restored to their best condition, the people in the agency began to suspect the many suspicious points in the night's extermination operation.

When asked about this, Zhao Kongcheng himself looked embarrassed, as if he had some unspeakable secret.

What did that guy say back then?

"Captain, I really didn't mean to keep this from you, but believe me, you'll find out soon enough!"

what do you know?

Chen Muyi thought about it all night. Although he didn't have any clue, he could roughly guess that Old Zhao had indeed died once after using the Ghost God's Guidance.

And now that he can stand in front of them, alive and kicking, there's only one possibility.

Someone resurrected him.

It's not even about going back in time.

He had considered this possibility at first, because if that were the case, Zhao Kongcheng would at least still have the old injuries he had suffered.

However, when the medical examination results came out, Chen Muye looked at the best data and immediately ruled out this possibility.

Then there's only one other explanation—

It is a true resurrection, a completely new rebirth.

As for the classmate they mentioned who had the ability to heal the forbidden realm, the word "heal" in that context is debatable.

Chen Muye looked at the young agent of the god in front of him. Seeing that the other party was unmoved and unyielding, he finally chose to be lenient.

"I can guess that you two want to protect that being, so I didn't report these guesses. You can rest assured."

Lin Qiye didn't say anything, but he felt relieved.

"And judging from Old Zhao's appearance, that child must have reached some kind of agreement with you, right? Like keeping it a secret for the time being?"

Otherwise, Zhao Kongcheng wouldn't have been shouting that they would soon know the truth.

"And this kind therapist will appear before us soon, won't he?"

Lin Qiye's pupils contracted slightly: "You actually guessed that?"

Chen Muye waved his hand: "There's nothing I can do. You know Old Zhao; he can't keep anything to himself."

Lin Qiye once again condemned that guy in his heart and expressed sympathy for Lu Yu.

There's nothing I can do, Lu. I've really tried my best, but unfortunately, I have a weird teammate who's a real pain in the neck.

"Alright, I'm not a bad person. Since they asked you to keep it a secret, I won't be the villain." Chen Muye relaxed and leaned back in his chair.

"And besides, our 136th squad owes that student a huge favor, doesn't it?"

They almost lost a teammate.

Among the Night's Watch, the word "teammate" is too simplistic.

They are teammates, but they have long since become more like family.

"Old Zhao! Aren't you supposed to be on holiday today? Why are you at the firm?"

The noise reached the office.

"I'm used to being busy, how could I sit still? Anyway, I didn't have anything else to do, so I came over to take a look!"

"Don't you know how to take care of yourself at all? You've worried everyone for so long!"

Outside came Hongying's laughter and curses, followed by Zhao Kongcheng's familiar voice begging for mercy.

Lin Qiye sat there quietly, listening to the sounds of playful fighting, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up slightly.

Actually, this isn't bad at all!

He thought to himself.

Even though he has now left his aunt and brother, isn't what he longs for right now to protect their happiness?

He asked himself silently.

The images of his aunt and younger brother flashed through his mind like a revolving lantern, and he recalled the bits and pieces of the past, a warm feeling welling up in his heart.

Although they are in different places now, he knows that they are both striving forward in their own lives, pursuing their own happiness.

And he, too, must find his place here and protect this happiness in his own way.

Lin Qiye took a deep breath, feeling the peaceful atmosphere, and his mood gradually calmed down.

He decided to let go of his past self-pity and focus on the new challenges before him. There were new friends, a new beginning, and new opportunities waiting for him to explore.

The people outside walked in, and seeing Chen Muyi and Lin Qiye sitting there having stopped asking questions, they smiled at each other in unison.

"Captain! Have you eaten?"

The man who had been lying silently on the ground last night grinned.

"And you, brat! Welcome to the Night's Watch!"

……

Zhao Kongcheng rushed to his captain and gave him a bear hug, while secretly giving Lin Qiye a wink, thinking no one had noticed.

Lin Qiye: ^> <^…

Old Zhao, you're the only one who thinks no one else has noticed anything...

Chen Muyi was forced to put down his pen due to the team members' overwhelming enthusiasm.

He looked up and gazed out through the glass door of the office.

Outside the door, Hongying was excitedly discussing with Si Xiaonan their plan to go to the supermarket to buy snacks that afternoon.

The two girls seemed excited about their upcoming shopping trip, their faces beaming with sly smiles.

At the same time, Wen Qimo stood on the other side of the door, facing an anxious old lady.

It turned out that her beloved pet cat had gone missing, so she came to the Peace Agency for help.

The old lady forgot her dentures when she went out, so her speech was a bit unclear. She rambled on to Wen Qimo incoherently, but judging from Wen Qimo's bewildered expression, she probably didn't understand.

Leng Xuan then pulled out a small, exquisite camera from his person and quietly took a picture of him and Zhao Kongcheng, capturing this heartwarming moment.

Leng Xuan smiled gently, seemingly very satisfied with the footage he had captured.

……

Feeling the gentle embrace of the person in front of him, Chen Muyi suddenly wanted to escape reality for a moment.

He couldn't imagine what the 136th Squad would have been like if it had been Old Zhao's body that returned that night.

Will they still be laughing and joking like they are now?

There is only one answer.

will not.

Regardless of who that mysterious person is...

Chen Muye sighed inwardly.

Thank you……

Send him home.
