Slayer of Gods: I lied; I became the agent of the Nine Gods.
Chapter 124 [In this underworld, the gods live forever]
(There's an author's note and a poll at the end of this chapter! Be sure to read it, my darlings~)
On the banks of the River of Oblivion, nameless plants sprouted from the soil, their black branches and unfurled leaves growing rapidly to their tallest height.
Immediately afterwards, those black leaves quietly fell with the wind of the underworld, turning into fertile nutrients and being buried in the soil, and soon a bright red dot appeared.
At first, there was only one place, but then it quickly spread across the land. In the time it takes to breathe, an endless expanse of red spider lilies has recreated the magnificent scene of yesteryear.
Four beams of light descended upon the center of Fengdu. A soft "click" was heard, as if something had come together. The next second, a full, blood-red moon appeared in the sky above Fengdu.
The little Di Ting on the ground looked at the full moon, and despite the strange scene, it felt an unprecedented warmth.
The moment the fragments came together, the world remained the same four corners. A burst of lightning rose in the sky, its surging purple light enough to let the four gods on earth know that this was no ordinary lightning.
They couldn't even move, as if they were locked in place, watching the purple lightning crash down from the sky and pierce their bodies.
"Ahhhhh!!!"
Amidst screams of agony, their bodies were repeatedly destroyed by lightning, only to be reassembled by divine power.
Even worse, Yama had already lost his life when the umpteenth bolt of lightning struck.
The thunder didn't stop, it rang out eighty-one times before finally ceasing.
Because of the high degree of overlap, the sounds were superimposed and could be clearly heard by everyone in the distant Great Xia.
Amidst the incessant thunder, the entire Feng seemed to have returned to what it was thousands of years ago.
At the Bridge of Helplessness, the souls guarding the entrance to the afterlife suddenly sensed a person appearing in front of them. The moment they looked up and saw who it was, they burst into tears.
He was a soul who witnessed the Battle of Fengdu. He refused to enter the cycle of reincarnation because he wanted to guard the bridge for the god who used his life force to brew the soup of rebirth for them.
Now, Fengdu has returned to its rightful place, at the Bridge of Helplessness...
The spirit knelt down, forehead pressed to the ground, choking back sobs several times:
"Lady Meng Po...you're back..."
A woman with listless yet gentle eyes stood before him, dressed in a red dress, a smile playing on her lips, seemingly tinged with helplessness.
"Why are you still crying after all these years?"
Her hand rested on the spirit's head, and she whispered words of comfort: "...You're back...and thank you for guarding this bridge all this time..."
.........
Little Diting gazed at the blood-red moon, as if sensing something. He subconsciously turned his head to look to his side, and his eyes lit up.
It was a black behemoth with a single, gleaming horn. It stood on the steps, looking down at its younger self, and let out a low growl.
"It's you!"
Little Di Ting cried out in surprise and hurriedly ran over.
"It's not just me..."
Di Ting laughed, stepped aside, and revealed the young man standing behind him.
The Bodhisattva, her robes flowing freely, the hem draped over the steps, exuding a serene and otherworldly aura. Looking at the little Di Ting on the ground, a smile flickered in her eyes, and she softly spoke, "...It's Little Di Ting, isn't it..."
How lucky I am to have the chance to see you when you were young...
Little Di Ting, who heard the Bodhisattva's voice, was stunned. Looking at this family member who had accompanied him for thousands of years in another version of his memory, he hesitated, unsure whether he should step forward.
The divine beast beside him naturally heard these thoughts, snorted, raised its paw to scoop up the cub from the ground, placed it on the steps, and then lowered its head to gently touch Little Di Ting's little horn with its own:
"What's there to be afraid of... Hell is going to be crowded again. When you grow up, we'll go and keep an eye on how busy this guy is..."
"……Um!"
…………
Countless ghosts and gods appeared in Fengdu, looking at each other with smiles, seemingly delighted at their reunion after thousands of years.
In the very end, they all turned around and knelt down in the same direction—
"Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva of Fengdu..."
"The Five Ghost Emperors of Fengdu..."
"Meng Po of Fengdu..."
"The Black and White Impermanence of Fengdu..."
"Thank you for your help, fellow Daoist—"
This thank you was directed at the girl who brought everything back.
And the emperor standing to the side, clasped in his robes, also bowed, cupped his hands, and spoke in unison: "The Great Emperor of Fengdu Beiyin..."
At this moment, all the ghosts and gods reunited in Fengdu.
Looking at this breathtaking scene, Lin Qiye was suddenly struck by the fact that they were fortunate enough to be participants and witness this grand moment.
Look at those ministers bowing their heads:
"Welcome back, Your Majesty!"
Thus, the cycle of reincarnation was re-established.
The phantom looked at the divine kingdom that had returned, looked down at its people, and finally left a faint smile before dissipating into the air.
A glimmer of light streaked down and, unnoticed by anyone, flew into the body of the girl on the ground.
Not far away, a Taoist priest wearing straw sandals and a cloth robe looked up at the sky and suddenly smiled:
"...That's good...They're all back..."
…………
[Note: The prerequisite for the permanent achievement "[In this Netherworld, the Gods Live Forever]" is an average favorability rating of 60% or higher among the gods and spirits of the underworld. This achievement is now unlocked.]
In this underworld, the gods live forever.
They are the faith of this world. Regardless of the past or future, regardless of the six realms of reincarnation, humanity has never forgotten them, therefore...
Welcome back, my lord.
Achievement Reward: As long as you are in the underworld, all your thoughts and desires will be fulfilled.
The skill [One Hammer Decides] has been upgraded to [Wish Fulfillment]. The judgment was successful. Since it does not consume energy, it has now been executed.
The buzzing of electronic sounds kept exploding in the girl's head, and her sensitivity amplified the effect infinitely.
Even so, Lu Yu merely frowned, then laughed as he listened to the constantly calculated results.
She could sense the subtle, yet palpable, benevolent gazes of the gods kneeling on the ground, and she accepted their attention with composure.
So these dead gods still retain their consciousness in this empty underworld...
Isn't a favorability rating of over 60% the best proof of that?
So how could this be just her effort alone?
This is clearly a case of them helping each other achieve their goals and move towards hope.
She prayed for their return, and they were grateful to this complete stranger...
As she laughed, the girl couldn't help but shed tears as she looked at her captain, who was kneeling beside her.
"Captain...you still owe me an ice cream when we get back..."
She was so tired, yet she felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment.
Before she knew it, several teammates had gathered around her, placing their hands gently on the girl's shoulders, seemingly conveying strength to her.
I really am the happiest child...
At this moment, Lu Yu had an exceptionally clear understanding.
Home is where my heart finds peace...
No matter how difficult the future may be
We must always stay together...
---------
It's a two-way journey!
No extra updates. I've been writing and revising until midnight, and I really can't stay up any longer.
Furthermore, six of the Primordial Gods have already returned (but they won't be going back). Now we need to speed things up. Of the four Underworld Gods, one died under the Nine-Nine Thunder Tribulation, and three were severely injured or crippled. In the later stages of the game, they're hardly even considered bosses anymore.
So the main enemy later on is a type of monster!
And since some storylines will disappear due to the arrival of the Primordial Era, I created a separate instance to reflect this.
The following are four questions requiring two choices:
What would you like to see as the first instance of the story (after Fatty's backstory)? (Just add one to your comment!) (Please choose carefully; don't mind if you don't like this personal setting!)
1. Dragon Clan (I haven't decided on the timeline yet, maybe Dragon 2 or Dragon 3)
2. Holy Grail War (Fate) (This is actually the one I initially thought of... but I was afraid it wouldn't pass the review process)
3. Jujutsu Kaisen (DK route/Teacher route, not sure which route it is yet)
4. Bungo Stray Dogs (cough cough, I mainly watched this one because of the 'books' ~^-^)
If you have any thoughts about other worlds, you can post them in the comments section of this paragraph. There is no set deadline.
The author has to go to BM's workplace tomorrow and hand in their phone, so they're taking a day off.
