No reconciliation, no forgiveness! Mr. Pei leaves with nothing.
Chapter 14 Jiang Hua: "Whose husband is back?"
From the moment he entered, Pei Zhan noticed that Jiang Hua's favorite high heels were gone from the entryway, as were the plush toys she used to prop her back on the sofa and the rug on the floor.
Upon seeing this, the nanny would immediately know that the two were either arguing or getting a divorce.
Whether this couple is compatible or not is obvious to anyone with eyes. They're not a couple at all; they're more like strangers living together out of convenience.
The nanny isn't here often, but she comes every day on time to clean and cook.
The couple rarely see each other. They've been married for three years, but the maid has only seen them eat dinner together at home a handful of times. She doesn't know what they're up to.
Fortunately, whenever the couple couldn't finish their food, or if there was any leftovers, she would pack it up and take it home to avoid waste.
Pei Zhan wearily took off his black suit jacket. "You don't need to come here again."
With a 'bang', the door closed.
Pei Zhan looked around the entire master bedroom again; Jiang Hua had taken everything that needed to be taken.
She cut out his half of the wedding photo from the bedside table and placed it on the bed.
Besides that, everything they owned in the house was missing.
Jiang Hua took all the clothes she had left in the dressing room, and even the cactus she had bought from the market on a whim and left on the balcony.
There was nothing left by Jiang Hua, nor... the clothes she often left lying around on the bed.
Pei Zhan is a clean freak and cannot tolerate any mess.
Jiang Hua is different. She is a pampered young lady with a spoiled attitude. She wears a different outfit every day of the week and likes to leave her clothes lying around.
The room was a mess, but no matter how late Pei Zhan came home, he would always clean it up for her when he saw the mess.
When that deep gaze fell upon the dressing table, all the bottles and jars that had been piled up there were now completely removed.
The room was filled with a cold, sparse atmosphere, devoid of any warmth or smoke, and returned to its original emptiness.
For a moment, Pei Zhan felt as if he were hallucinating. Jiang Hua, wrapped in a bath towel, had her hair in a bun with two wisps of hair falling by her ears. She was barefoot, wearing slippers on a stool, and applying strawberry-scented body lotion. Her long, straight legs were without an ounce of fat. When he heard the sound and turned around, Jiang Hua smiled, her crescent-shaped eyes narrowing as if they held a thousand stars. Then she ran to him, hooked her arms around his neck, and brought her damp body to him. "Whose husband is back?"
Outside the window, a drop of rain hit the balcony, and the next second, it splattered against the French windows.
Pei Zhan regained his senses; everything that had just happened was nothing but an illusion.
Avery Hotel, a six-star hotel.
Before going to bed, Jiang Hua finally managed to draw a design draft that was acceptable to submit. When she stood up, she realized that it was raining heavily outside.
Jiang Hua rubbed her stiff and sore neck and stood up.
Just then, someone knocked on the hotel door.
It must have been the late-night snack she ordered.
Jiang Hua went to open the door, and a hotel room service staff member pushed a delicate little food cart. "Ms. Jiang, have a pleasant evening. This is the sweet porridge you ordered, and we'd also like some snacks."
"Please, could you please deliver this to my room?"
Jiang Hua has a habit of eating late-night snacks, and she goes to sleep right after eating, so she has never gained weight.
"Miss Jiang, would you like someone to help with the cleaning?"
Jiang Hua glanced back at the suite, which was filled with her piled-up clothes, bags, jewelry, and various cosmetics and skincare products, all haphazardly scattered on the floor. Jiang Hua didn't like strangers entering her room, and since she was busy, she had forgotten about these things.
"Let's talk about it tomorrow. I won't bother you today."
The room attendant gave a standard smile. "Okay, Ms. Jiang, I'm at your service anytime."
After the room attendant left.
Holding her phone, Jiang Hua felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders as she finally received her mentor's approval. After finishing her late-night snack, she went to bed, washed up, and fell asleep.
Around 1:30 a.m.
Jiang Hua suddenly heard the landline phone on the bedside table ring. Still half asleep, Jiang Hua picked up the receiver with her eyes closed and groggily put it to her ear, "Hello, who is this?"
Hotel receptionist: "Ms. Jiang, a gentleman is calling you. Would you like to answer the phone?"
Jiang Hua's mind was a complete blank, and she didn't hear what she was saying at all. She just mumbled a "Mmm" in response.
After the microphone rang three times, Jiang Hua touched her eyes, looking like she hadn't woken up yet, and lay on the bed, still holding the microphone in her hand. Apart from the buzzing sound of electricity, there was no other sound.
Jiang Hua was only awake for a few seconds before quickly falling asleep again.
In a luxury apartment complex dozens of kilometers away, late at night, a cat darted quickly through the green belt.
The entire 30-story building was shrouded in darkness, except... on the eleventh floor, the entire living room and bedrooms were lit up.
A man in dark pajamas stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, talking on his cell phone.
Time ticked by, and before we knew it, three minutes had passed…
The only sound from the phone was the woman's even breathing as she slept...
A crescent moon peeked out from behind the clouds; the rain had been falling for who knows how many hours.
The silvery moonlight cast a long shadow of the man, and a sense of lonely desolation gradually spread through the room…
Some people were restless that night and couldn't sleep.
Some people sleep soundly through the night and wake up refreshed in the morning.
The Hilton five-star hotel is not far from the Imperial University. Jiang Hua received her class schedule and had two classes at 8:30 in the morning. She ate the breakfast prepared by the hotel as she walked, and the journey only took about ten minutes.
It rained last night, and the ground is still incredibly damp.
Jiang Hua was wearing a beige knitted long dress and a white custom-made limited edition bag when she received a phone call. The caller ID showed that the smile on her face faded. It was a call from the landline at the Jiang family villa.
Jiang Hua hesitated before answering the phone. A familiar, deep voice came through the line, "Dad, so early?"
When Jiang Weiguo returned from his morning Tai Chi practice, he said, "I was just worried you wouldn't be able to get up. You've received your class schedule, right? Get up quickly, don't be late. Have Pei Zhan take you to school and bring back your Imperial University graduation certificate for me to see. Don't embarrass me."
"If word gets out, my daughter, Jiang Weiguo's daughter, won't be able to graduate from university. How am I supposed to explain that to your uncles and elders?"
"I told you to study abroad, but you wouldn't listen!"
Jiang Hua slowed her pace, lowered her head, and looked at her toes. A gentle breeze blew across her face, carrying a cool sensation, and her hair fluttered slightly. "I'll consider studying abroad. You taught me how to do things, right? We have to take it one step at a time. It's too early to talk about these things now."
Jiang Weiguo was amused by her. "Don't think I don't know. I heard from Wang Qi that all the design drafts you submitted will be rejected?"
Jiang Hua: "I'm not cut out for this. I really don't know why I started a jewelry company in the first place. Now look what's happened. If my teachers and classmates find out that I'm your daughter and I know nothing about jewelry design, I'll be laughed to death."
“You! You don’t learn anything useful yourself, and you blame the company… Take good care of yourself outside, and don’t cause Pei Zhantian any more trouble. Over the years, hasn’t he taken care of enough things for you? Give him the phone, I have something to say to him.”
