Don't meet me in your next life.

Chapter 57 Lu Sichen's Illness

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Lu Sichen called Xiang Yiyi.

"Yi Yi, let's invite Xiao Qing and go out to eat later."

"Okay, where should we eat?" Xiang Yi asked.

"Let's go to that all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant we used to frequent," Lu Sichen suggested.

He wanted to have dinner with Xiang Yi, but he couldn't eat much, which wasn't as noticeable at the buffet.

“Great! I haven’t eaten there in ages,” Xiang Yi said happily.

She didn't want to show her sadness in front of Lu Sichen, afraid that he would worry, and also afraid that she would make him think too much.

Xiang Yi just wanted to spend this time with him happily, no matter how long it would last, just to let him be happy.

"It's settled then. I'll pick you up and be there at 6 o'clock," Lu Sichen said, forcing himself to endure the pain.

Damn it, his head is hurting again, and it's happening more frequently than before.

“Okay,” Xiang Yi said.

"Okay, then you make an appointment with Xiao Qing, that's all for now." Lu Sichen quickly hung up the phone; he didn't want Yi Yi to find out about his situation.

After hanging up the phone, Lu Sichen squatted on the ground, his hands covering his head. His face was contorted in pain as he struggled to pull a transparent bag from his pocket, opened it, and swallowed two pills.

However, it still takes some time for the medicine to take effect. Lu Sichen was rolling on the ground in pain, as if not only his head but also his legs and feet were hurting.

A knock sounded at the door. Lu Sichen tried to get up to open it, but he was too weak to do so.

"Xiao Chen?" Secretary Zhang outside the door tried calling again, but didn't hear Lu Sichen's voice. He opened the door in confusion and saw Lu Sichen lying on the floor. He quickly ran over.

"Xiao Chen, what's wrong?"

Lu Sichen was pale and covered in sweat.

"It's nothing, I just have a bit of a headache. I just took some medicine, I'll be fine in a bit. Can you help me to the sofa to rest for a while?" Lu Sichen said with difficulty.

"Okay. I'll take you to see a doctor," Secretary Zhang said as she helped Lu Sichen to the sofa.

"No need, I'll be fine in a bit," Lu Sichen said weakly, slumping onto the sofa.

"Let me pour you a glass of warm water," Secretary Zhang said, going to pour water for Lu Sichen.

Seeing a bag of pills on the floor, Secretary Zhang quickly went over and picked it up.

He picked up the pills, looked at them, put them in his pocket, and then opened his phone to check the effects of the medication. He was stunned.

"Ouch!" Secretary Zhang's hand was scalded by the boiling water, and he quickly pulled it away.

He was so focused that he forgot he was pouring boiling water.

"Xiao Chen, have some water." Secretary Zhang handed the water to Lu Sichen.

After some time, the medicine has started to work, and Lu Sichen looks a little better than before, but his face is still deathly pale.

Watching Lu Sichen drink water, Secretary Zhang realized that he must really have a health problem, and the Lu family still didn't care enough about him.

Lu's mother is socially awkward and rarely leaves the house. If she is alone, she hides in her room. Usually, Lu Chengmin takes her out.

Since Xiaobai's incident, the old master of the Lu family has completely ignored his son.

Xiao Chen was someone he had watched grow up. Aside from money, perhaps he hadn't received any love from his family.

Secretary Zhang looked at him with concern: "Xiao Chen, what illness do you have?"

"I'm fine, Uncle Zhang," Lu Sichen said slowly.

"Xiao Chen, don't hide it from me anymore." Uncle Zhang took out some pills from his pocket.

Lu Sichen remained silent, perhaps letting Uncle Zhang know that many things would be easier to handle.

"I have brain cancer, and I estimate I only have three or four months left," Lu Sichen said after considering for a while.

"What? Brain cancer?" Secretary Zhang was a little incredulous, thinking he must have misheard.

“Yes, brain cancer, it has spread.” Lu Sichen said with a light laugh.

"Then go and see, we have the money, we can cure it." Secretary Zhang was a little at a loss.

"Yes, I've already checked. It's been moved. We're just waiting for the right time," Lu Sichen said calmly.

"How about I contact some friends abroad to see if there's any cure?" Uncle Zhang said.

"Don't bother, I've already moved it." Lu Sichen smiled.

“Xiao Chen…” Uncle Zhang said sadly.

"It's alright, Uncle Zhang. I'm fine with it." Lu Sichen smiled casually. "When a person leaves is their fate."

"You're a child who has suffered a lot too." Uncle Zhang's eyes welled up with tears.

"Uncle Zhang, I need you to keep my illness a secret for a while longer. I want to get the company back on track before we talk about it." Lu Sichen didn't want his illness to affect the company's stability.

"Don't Madam and the former chairman know?" Secretary Zhang asked Lu Sichen.

"I don't know yet. I don't know how to tell them about the tragedy of parents outliving their children." Lu Sichen's nose tingled with emotion. "I'll wait until the day I have no choice but to tell them."

"Sigh..." Secretary Zhang sighed, "So what are your plans now? I'll help you."

“My dad hasn’t been sentenced yet, and I don’t know how long it will take, but it will be at least two years. I might not be able to live to see that.” Lu Sichen was a little down. “Could you find a lawyer for me tomorrow? I want to make a will.”

“Okay.” Uncle Zhang nodded. “I spoke with the lawyer the other day. If the Lin family doesn’t provide any new evidence, the maximum time is two years.”

Lu Sichen checked the time: "I'm going out to dinner with some friends later. Can you handle some company matters for me? Also, once the money is available, can you help me buy back that guesthouse in Yunxi?"

“I want to leave the Yunxi guesthouse to Yi Yi, using her name.”

"You mean Miss Xiang Yiyi?" Secretary Zhang asked him.

"Yes. I want to give her some security. In this life, I've only ever loved one woman like her." Thinking of Xiang Yiyi, Lu Sichen's face showed even more sadness.

"Alright, I'll handle these," Uncle Zhang said. "But she's pregnant, isn't that..."

“Uncle Zhang, I know what you want to say. The child isn’t mine; it’s my brother’s,” Lu Sichen said.

"What? Your brother? Lin Lubai?" Secretary Zhang doubted his ears.

"You started dating Xiang Yi, but she has a child with your brother, this..."

“Perhaps this is fate. We’re just dating, but we haven’t had sex. I want to wait until we get married,” Lu Sichen sneered. “Perhaps this is fate. This is the only relationship we can have.”

"So what's the situation between her and your brother?" Uncle Zhang asked.

“They got married and then divorced. My brother is probably going to marry Miss Su Qiaoqiao from the Su family,” Lu Sichen said. “So I want to leave some security for Xiang Yiyi and my little nephew. In case my brother doesn’t acknowledge the child, I want to take him in.”

"Okay, I understand." Uncle Zhang felt a little sorry for him.

"Uncle Zhang, remember to keep today's events a secret for me," Lu Sichen said. "I'm going out for dinner first."

"Okay, I understand. Do you want me to call a driver to take you?" Uncle Zhang asked. "Are you physically capable of handling it?"

"Okay, thank you, Uncle Zhang." Lu Sichen did feel a bit tired.
