The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 71 Danger on the Grassland

Wenfei stayed in the Western Regions for a few more days. He felt that it was about time, and they prepared to leave the Western Regions and return to Beijiang City. On the one hand, the Western Regions had already withdrawn their troops, so there was no need for him to stay there; on the other hand, Ayiguli was eager to return home.

Wenfei and Li Wei went to the royal court to say goodbye to Nabru Khan. Nabru Khan said a few words of blessing. When they were about to leave the royal court after saying goodbye to Nabru Khan, Nabru called Li Wei back.

"But please stay."

Wenfei stepped outside the tent to wait.

"Khan, what are your orders?" Li Wei asked.

“Give this to your mother.” Naburu handed a handkerchief to Li Wei.

"What is this?" Li Wei asked.

“Give it to your mother and she will understand,” Nabru said.

Li Wei rubbed it between his fingers; the handkerchief contained what appeared to be a jade pendant or something similar.

"Could it be their token of love?" Li Wei thought to herself.

"Also, take this with you. With this, you can move freely in the Western Regions." Nabru Khan gave Li Wei another token.

"Thank you, Khan!" Li Wei said as he walked out.

"What did the Khan tell you?" Wenfei asked curiously.

“They gave us a token,” Li Wei said.

"What token?" Wen Fei asked.

“A token that allows unrestricted movement in the Western Regions,” Li Wei said.

"The Khan is so generous!" Wenfei said.

They returned to Yuchi Liang's tent, where Ayiguli had already packed everything and was waiting for them to depart.

“Sister Ayiguli, we can finally go home.” Li Wei said, hugging Ayiguli.

"Let's go!" Wenfei said.

"Uncle! Farewell!" Li Wei kowtowed to Yu Chi Liang, showing his understanding.

"But the journey is long, take care! Tell my sister that her brother misses her." Yu Chi Liang's tears fell.

Wenfei and his companions rode their warhorses across the grassland, eager to get home and unwilling to stop.

Suddenly, a group of people on warhorses appeared in front of them, blocking their path.

Wenfei and the others quickly grabbed the reins and stopped to look. It turned out that it was the fat butler from the Kaimir family leading his thugs to intercept them.

Wen Fei rode up to them on horseback and asked, "Why are you blocking our way?"

“Our master has been thinking about this for several days. He feels he has suffered a great loss. If you and Ayiguli want to leave the Western Regions safely, you should pay the ransom before you leave,” the fat butler said.

“Your master has already promised Prince Yuchi that he will not redeem the silver, how can he go back on his word?” Wenfei said.

"Our master only came to his senses these past few days," the fat butler said shamelessly.

“If we don’t pay, we can’t leave, right?” Wenfei said.

"You'd better pay the ransom quickly, and I need to get back and report," the fat butler said.

“No!” Wenfei said.

"Then we won't stand on ceremony. Take them back to me!" the fat butler ordered.

"Let's see who dares to touch this! This is Bulu Khan's token, no one can stop us!" Li Wei said, taking out the token.

"Hahahaha! The Khan's token is no good for us," the fat butler said with a sneer.

“You dare disobey the Khan’s orders?” Li Wei said.

“We only listen to our master!” the fat butler said.

“Tomboy, there’s no point in talking to these scoundrels. When the fight breaks out, you protect Sister Ayiguli and try to escape. I’ll hold them off,” Wenfei said.

"You have to be careful!" Li Wei said worriedly.

"We will definitely bring Sister Ayiguli back to Beijiang City safely," Wenfei said.

“I promise you,” Li Wei said.

Wen Fei slapped the horse's rump, and the horse immediately galloped off, charging towards the fat butler and his men.

"Hurry! Catch them! Don't let them get away!" The fat butler quickly hid to the side.

The thugs swarmed towards Wen Fei, but Wen Fei used his fists and feet to knock them to the ground. Several thugs went towards Li Wei's side, but Wen Fei flew in front of them to block them.

"You guys go! Don't worry about me!" Wen Fei said to Li Wei and the others.

Li Wei protected Ayiguli, spurring his warhorse forward. Taking advantage of Wen Fei's predicament, the fat butler immediately led several men to chase after Li Wei and his men. Li Wei, wanting to protect Ayiguli, said, "Sister Ayiguli, you go first, I'll hold them off."

"But be careful!" Ayiguli rode away.

Li Wei had given the pursuers a good beating, but the fat butler was still persistent. He secretly rode off to chase after Ayiguli. Just as he was about to catch up, Ayiguli was terrified. If she was caught, she would never see Sang Ziqi again. In her panic, Ayiguli shouted, "Sang Ziqi, save me!"

Sang Ziqi thought he heard Ayiguli's shouts, so he stopped.

"Wenjie, did you hear someone shouting for help? It sounds like Ayiguli's voice."

"Sang Ziqi, you're overthinking it!" Wenjie said with a smile.

"No, listen carefully, I really heard it," Sang Ziqi said confidently.

Sang Ziqi spurred his horse toward the sound, and Wenjie and Changsheng followed. In the distance, they saw a man chasing a girl.

"Aygul, I'm here!" Sang Ziqi hurried over on horseback.

"Sang Ziqi, you really came!" Ayiguli burst into tears upon seeing Sang Ziqi.

"Ayiguli, I'm here to save you! Don't be afraid!" Sang Ziqi said, thrusting his sword at the fat steward. The fat man fell off his horse, and Wenjie and Changsheng grabbed him.

"Spare me! Don't kill me!" the fat butler pleaded.

"Sang Ziqi!" Ayiguli dismounted and excitedly rushed into Sang Ziqi's arms.

"My Ayiguli, I've finally seen you!" Sang Ziqi hugged Ayiguli tightly.

Changsheng was moved to tears and sobbed incessantly. Wenjie said, "Changsheng, is it really that serious?"

"It's so touching! Don't you think so, Second Young Master?" Changsheng said, crying.

“Alright, Sang Ziqi, we’re still here. Ayiguli, welcome back!” Wenjie said.

"Wenjie, you're here too." Ayiguli said shyly as she broke free from Sang Ziqi's embrace.

"Where are Wenfei and the others?" Wenjie asked.

"Go quickly and help Wenfei and the others; they're behind us," Ayiguli said.

"Chang Sheng, you and Ayiguli stay here and watch over this fat man. Sang Ziqi, let's go!" Wenjie said.

Wenjie and Sang Ziqi quickly arrived at Wenfei's place and defeated the thugs. The thugs all knelt down and begged for mercy. Wenfei said, "Go back and tell your master to behave himself. If I run into him again, I definitely won't show any mercy." The thugs were so frightened that they abandoned their horses and fled.

"Second Brother! Brother Sang! You've really come!" Wenfei said.

“Sang Ziqi rushed over as soon as he received the letter,” Wenjie said.

"Brother Sang, have you seen Sister Ayiguli?" Wenfei asked.

“She’s waiting for us up ahead,” Sang Ziqi said.

"Brother Sang's face is all red," Wenfei said with a smile.

“Let’s hurry and meet up with them,” Wenjie said.

"Ok!"
