The Young Swordsman of Dalu
Chapter 54 Danger Encounters in the Northern Dynasty Palace
Ji Wuchang was walking out of the palace when a group of palace guards approached from the outside and blocked his way out.
"Master Ji, since you're here, why not stay a little longer? Why are you in such a hurry to leave?" The young emperor of the Northern Dynasty, Murong Xuan, arrived at the palace.
Ji Wuchang did not panic; instead, he calmly looked at Murong Xuan.
"I have heard of the legendary Flying Hero of the Western Continent since I was a child, and today I finally get to see your esteemed face," Murong Xuan said.
"What do you want?" Ji Wuchang said calmly.
"Of course, we should keep Master Ji in the Northern Dynasty," Murong Xuan said confidently.
"Nowhere can hold me back. I can leave whenever I want, and no one else has the right to stop me," Ji Wuchang said disdainfully.
“Then senior, please give it a try. Don’t blame me for being rude,” Murong Xuan said.
"Your Majesty, you have finally come to my Yuxuan Palace," Jin Yuanying said as he walked to the door.
"Grandmother, I have been busy with state affairs lately and have not been able to visit you in time. Please forgive me," Murong Xuan said.
“This Master Ji is an old friend of mine. Let him leave the palace,” Jin Yuanying said.
“Grandmother, I used to listen to everything you said, but today I want to make my own decisions,” Murong Xuan said.
"Hahaha! It seems I really am getting old. Should I decide to let him go?" Kim Won-young said.
"Grandmother, all the guards in your Yuxuan Palace have been replaced by my men. Your trusted grandson sent them home to retire long ago. What do you think I've been busy with these days? I've just been cleaning up your household," Murong Xuan said smugly.
“It seems you really are getting old, and your grandson has turned the tables on you,” Ji Wuchang said, looking at Jin Yuanying.
"This is all I can do for you, Ji Wuchang. Whether you can leave the palace or not depends on yourself," Jin Yuanying said.
"I, the Flying Hero of the Western Continent, am not called that for nothing." Ji Wuchang leaped into the air and flew out of the palace gate.
Ji Wuchang flew into the courtyard. Archers suddenly appeared on the palace walls and rooftops, surrounding him. Ji Wuchang laughed loudly: "Murong brat, you overestimate yourself. Even if you set up a net to catch your grandpa Ji today, you will have a hard time."
Ji Wuchang leaped higher than the palace wall, and the archers, at a command, unleashed a barrage of arrows at him. In an instant, hundreds of arrows flew toward Ji Wuchang, but he swiftly drew his Meteor Rain Sword from his waist, knocking the arrows to the ground before leaping away. When the archers prepared to fire a second arrow, Ji Wuchang had vanished. The archers looked at each other in disbelief, unable to believe that someone with such superb lightness skills truly existed in the world.
"Useless! All of you are useless! So many arrows and you couldn't even catch one Ji Wuchang! Drag them all away and behead them!" Murong Xuan roared in fury.
The archers were stunned, and the palace guards rushed into the courtyard, ready to arrest them.
"Murong Xuan, stop right now! If you still have any respect for me as your grandmother, then release them. They are innocent!" Jin Yuanying shouted.
“Grandmother, I am the rightful ruler of the country,” Murong Xuan said, his eyes bloodshot.
"That's enough! Don't ever come to Yuxuan Palace again." Jin Yuanying waved his hand and walked into the palace alone.
"Capture Ji Wuchang throughout the city!" Murong Xuan ordered frantically.
Ji Wuchang flew out of the palace, where Wenjie was waiting for him. Upon seeing Ji Wuchang come out, Wenjie quickly went to greet him.
"Uncle-Master Ji, you're out."
"Hurry, Wenjie, we're being pursued!" Ji Wuchang said.
Ji Wuchang leaped away, and Wenjie followed closely behind, using his lightness skill. Sure enough, the pursuers from the palace came out. Seeing that Ji Wuchang had already flown far away, Wenjie also lifted himself up and flew out. The palace guards on horseback chased after them. Ji Wuchang and Wenjie didn't have time to rest and kept using their lightness skills. Wenjie was a little tired, and Ji Wuchang wanted to turn back and pull Wenjie along.
"Uncle-Master Ji, don't worry about me, you go first!" Wenjie shouted to Ji Wuchang.
Just as Wenjie landed and the palace guards were about to catch up, at this critical moment, Wenfei appeared in front of Wenjie as if he had descended from the sky, bringing horses with him.
"Second Brother, mount your horse quickly," Wenfei said.
"You're really something, kid!" Wenjie said.
The pursuers kept chasing them. The Wenjie brothers spurred their horses on. The border was not far away. They saw rows of soldiers waiting for them ahead. Their panic subsided. They reined in their horses. Ji Wuchang was standing in front of these soldiers.
"Master!" Wenfei exclaimed excitedly.
"Uncle-Master Ji!" Wenjie said.
Wenjie and Wenfei dismounted, and the pursuers behind them also reined in their horses in time, looking at them with disappointment.
“Come on, chase me! Come on over!” Wen Fei taunted.
The Northern Dynasty's leading general angrily slapped his horse's back, startling it into rearing up and neighing. The horse had no choice but to withdraw its troops and leave dejectedly.
"Senior Ji, please go to your tent and get some rest. Wenjie, you all come over here too," Shangguan Chenxing said.
Once inside the tent, everyone sat down, with Wen Fei sitting next to Ji Wuchang.
"Master, haven't you missed me after all these days? I've missed you so much!" Wenfei said in a coquettish tone.
"Didn't I tell you to stay home and practice your skills properly before I left? What are you doing out here? You're such a disobedient child!" Ji Wuchang scolded.
“Master, I haven’t slacked off in my training for a moment. Why don’t you give me a try?” Wenfei said.
“I’ll check in a bit. If it doesn’t meet my requirements, see how I punish you,” Ji Wuchang said.
“Yes, Master!” Wenfei said.
Wenjie sat there somewhat awkwardly. He stood up again and said uneasily, "General Shangguan, it was I who disobeyed your advice and left the northern frontier alone, bringing risks to the border. Please punish me."
"Wenjie, don't blame yourself. You and Senior Ji went to the Northern Dynasty and gathered information for us. You have done a good job," Shangguan Chenxing said.
“But you clearly looked very angry!” Wenfei said.
"Wenfei, don't speak!" Wenjie scolded.
“I’m angry because you didn’t follow the border regulations. What if something happens to you? How am I supposed to explain this to your father?” Shangguan Chenxing said.
“We were wrong, General!” Wen Fei said.
"Alright, we've had a long day. Wenjie, take your brother downstairs to rest. Senior Ji and I have some things to discuss," Shangguan Chenxing said.
"Yes, General Shangguan." After saying that, Wenjie pulled Wenfei out of the tent.
"Second brother, why are you pulling me so hard?" Wenfei said, dissatisfied.
“If I don’t pull you, judging from your posture, you’re still going to pester Uncle Ji,” Wenjie said.
"I just want to get closer to my master, after all, we haven't seen each other for many days," Wenfei said.
"I'm truly convinced this time!" Wenjie said.
"What are you convinced of?" Wenfei asked.
"Uncle Ji's title of 'Flying Hero of the Western Continent' is truly well-deserved. I dare say that even my master and Uncle Li Chaoyang are not as good as him in terms of lightness skill," Wenjie said with emotion.
"Of course, it doesn't matter whose master he is," Wen Fei said proudly.
Inside the tent, after listening to Ji Wuchang's account of the situation in the Northern Dynasty, Shangguan Chenxing couldn't help but feel worried.
"The young emperor of the Northern Dynasty has rebelled, which is not good for our Great Lu Kingdom!" Shangguan Chenxing said.
"The most urgent and crucial task lies within our Great Lu Kingdom. We must remove the thorn in Prince Zhou's side. The young Murong from the Northern Dynasty is no match for our Great Lu Kingdom. Moreover, I do not believe that Jin Yuanying's power has been stripped away by his grandson," Ji Wuchang said.
"Senior Ji, what are your plans for the future?" Shangguan Chenxing asked.
“I’ll stay here and find an opportunity to go to the Northern Dynasty,” Ji Wuchang said.
"Everything will be done according to Senior Ji's wishes," Shangguan Chenxing said respectfully.
