The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 34 Prince Wen Arrives

Liang Feiyan and Caihong left the courtyard and walked casually onto the main street of Beijiang City, where squads of soldiers were strictly checking passersby.

"Miss, what should we do? I'm scared," Rainbow said guiltily.

"Just follow me, don't be afraid," Liang Feiyan comforted her.

"What are you doing here?" the soldier asked, stopping them.

"Sir, we've come out to buy some fabric so we can make some clothes," Liang Feiyan said.

"Hurry up!" the soldier said after examining the soldier for a moment.

Liang Feiyan and Caihong quickly left, walking briskly forward.

"Miss, my heart was in my throat! I was so scared!" Rainbow said, patting her chest.

"Let's leave here quickly and get to the inn first," Liang Feiyan said.

Liang Feiyan and Caihong quickly returned to Yulu Inn. When they entered the inn, the waiter came to greet them.

"Are you two ladies looking for lodging or meals?"

“We’re staying here,” Rainbow said.

"Please follow me, gentlemen," the waiter said warmly.

"No need, waiter, we've already settled in here, so we won't trouble you any further," Rainbow said as she accompanied Liang Feiyan upstairs.

"They've checked in? How come I didn't know? But they look so familiar! Maybe I've been too busy and don't remember when they checked in," the waiter muttered to himself.

Duan Lixing stayed at the General's Mansion for lunch, having been kept there by Wen Tao, before returning. As soon as he arrived at the inn, he asked the waiter, "Waiter! Have the two young masters returned yet?"

"Sir, the two young masters haven't returned, but two delicate young ladies have," the waiter said.

"They didn't go out after they came back, did they?" Duan Lixing asked.

"Anyway, I didn't see them come down. How about I take you to see them?" the waiter said.

"Tell me which room they are in, and I'll go find them," Duan Lixing said excitedly.

"I've been so busy all day that I've forgotten which room the two young ladies are staying in, sir! Why don't you wait downstairs for a while? Maybe they'll come down again," the waiter said with a smile.

"I'll go find it myself." Duan Li walked to the stairwell and prepared to go up.

"Sir! You're disturbing our rest," the waiter said.

"I'll keep my voice down," Duan Lixing said.

“Miss, I think I heard Uncle’s voice,” Rainbow said.

"Impossible! Why would Uncle come here? Let's hurry up and get ready to go buy medicine. Senior Shangguan is waiting for our medicine to treat him," Liang Feiyan said.

“Miss, I really think it’s Uncle’s voice. Let’s go out and see for ourselves,” Rainbow said.

"I'm all packed. Let's go see if my uncle has really come," Liang Feiyan said, opening the door and walking out.

Duan Lixing was knocking on doors one by one. The people who opened the doors all seemed reluctant, and Duan Lixing kept apologizing to them every time he knocked on a door.

"What's wrong with you? Can't a person get some rest? I'm exhausted after a long day." Some customers always make rude remarks.

"Sorry to bother you!" Duan Lixing said with a forced smile.

Liang Feiyan walked to the stairwell and saw Duan Lixing apologizing to someone.

"Uncle! You really came!" Liang Feiyan said excitedly.

"You child, I've been looking for you so hard!" Duan Lixing said excitedly as he walked over to Liang Feiyan.

"Uncle, I'm sorry!" Liang Feiyan said.

"Where have you been these past few days?" Duan Lixing asked.

Then, Liang Feiyan and Caihong bombarded Duan Lixing with their stories of the past few days, making Duan Lixing quite worried for them.

“It’s too dangerous! The situation on the border is complicated. One wrong move and you’re dead. You two are such a worry. I’ll report this to Prince Wen as soon as possible,” Duan Lixing said.

"Has Prince Wen come to Beijiang City?" Liang Feiyan asked.

"You all just arrived today, so stay here and don't go anywhere. I'm going to the General's Mansion to find Prince Wen," Duan Lixing instructed.

"No, Uncle! General Shangguan is waiting for us to get the medicine. If we're too late, I'm afraid his wound will get infected," Liang Feiyan said.

"Be careful," Duan Lixing said before leaving the inn and heading towards the General's Mansion.

After Liang Feiyan and Caihong got the medicine, they went to Sang Ziqi's courtyard.

Sang Ziqi returned to the courtyard and excitedly grabbed Wenjie, saying, "Wenjie, your father has come to Beijiang City!"

"What brings my father to Northern Frontier City at this time? Does he know we're in trouble? That's impossible," Wenjie said, puzzled.

"Who cares? At least we don't have to worry about our safety now," Sang Ziqi said.

"I'm back!" Liang Feiyan and Caihong also returned to the compound.

"You've worked hard!" Shangguan Xingyun said politely.

"It's no trouble at all! This is what I should do," Liang Feiyan said.

"Everything is alright!" Wenjie said.

"Young Master Wen, Prince Wen has arrived in Beijiang City," Liang Feiyan said.

“I just heard Sang Ziqi mention it too,” Wenjie said.

"I'll go and prepare the medicine for Senior Shangguan first." Liang Feiyan felt a little awkward in front of Wenjie.

“Sang Ziqi, I need to go find my father,” Wenjie said.

“I’ll go with you,” Sang Ziqi said.

"You should wait until it gets dark before you go, so as not to be seen," Shangguan Xingyun said.

“Alright!” Wenjie said.

In the room, Shangguan Chenxing lay weakly on the bed, while Wang Shi wiped away her tears.

"I'm fine. This is fate. If I don't make it, this family will still depend on you to keep it going. Please take good care of yourself," Shangguan Chenxing said, stroking Wang's hand.

"Don't say anything unlucky. We're all fine. This family needs you, the children need you, and I need you too." Tears welled up in Wang's eyes again.

“General Shangguan, my father has come to Beijiang City. I will go to him after dark and tell him about your situation. I believe my father will definitely be able to rescue your family from Beijiang City,” Wenjie said.

"Prince Wen has come to the Northern Frontier! Is that true? That's wonderful! It means our Shangguan family is saved! Heaven truly has eyes!" Shangguan Chenxing said excitedly.

"Senior Shangguan, please don't get too excited. Be careful of your wound," Liang Feiyan said.

"I lost my composure," Shangguan Chenxing said apologetically.

"Miss, the medicine is ready." Rainbow brought the medicine over.

"Senior Shangguan, wait until the medicine cools down a bit before drinking it; it will help heal your wound," Liang Feiyan said.

“Miss Liang has been traveling all day, so leave this to me. You should rest for a while,” said Madam Wang, taking the medicine.

Liang Feiyan walked out of the room, and Shangguan Xingyun followed her out.

"Thank you!" Shangguan Xingyun said.

"You're too kind, Miss Shangguan," Liang Feiyan said.

The two stood silently in the courtyard. Wenjie came out of the room, and Sang Ziqi pulled him back, pointing to the two people in the courtyard and saying softly, "Don't go out, it'll be awkward."

Wenjie slapped Sang Ziqi hard, and Sang Ziqi cried out in pain, "Wenjie, can't you be gentler?"

"Serves you right!" Wenjie made a face at Sang Ziqi.

"Shangguan, I'm here!" Wen Tao's voice came into the courtyard at this moment.

"Father!" Wenjie went out to greet him upon hearing the voice.

"Wenjie, quickly take me to see Shangguan Chenxing," Wen Tao said as he entered the courtyard.

Wenjie led Wentao into the room.
