The Young Swordsman of Dalu
Chapter 22 Wenfei Falls Off a Cliff
Wen Fei angrily dragged Chang Sheng out of Li Chaoyang's pavilion.
"Fourth Master, we can't leave Wenxian Pavilion," Changsheng said anxiously.
"I don't want to stay here for another second. This is a good excuse to leave. It's Li Chaoyang who won't take me in. At most, the prince will just beat me up. It's no big deal!" Wen Fei said angrily.
“Fourth Master, can we stop being stubborn? We came here to learn skills. If you leave, how will we improve?” Changsheng said.
"The world is vast, and I can learn anywhere. I refuse to believe that I can't succeed even if I leave Wenxian Pavilion. Let's go!" Wenfei shouted.
As the two voices faded into the distance, Li Wei glanced at Li Chaoyang.
"Grandpa, am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Do you think he'll leave?" Li Wei asked.
"Sigh! It's all fate's arrangement; it all depends on his own choices," Li Chaoyang sighed.
“Grandpa, I don’t understand,” Li Wei said.
“You’ll understand,” Li Chaoyang said meaningfully.
Wenfei was furious. He felt that Li Chaoyang didn't want to take him as a disciple and was always trying to find various reasons to discourage his desire to learn.
Wenfei also felt strange. If they didn't want to take him as a disciple, why didn't they just refuse directly? Why go through all this trouble? These ancient people were so complicated, no different from modern people. Just thinking about it was annoying. He wished he could travel back in time right now. He still had to go to school and couldn't let his grandmother down. He had to work hard to get into his dream university. He wanted to travel back home right now.
With these thoughts in mind, Wenfei hurried down the mountain, leaving Changsheng far behind.
"Fourth Master, wait for me! Are you really leaving? Our gear is still on the mountain. Let's grab it before we go, Fourth Master!" Changsheng shouted from behind.
"Go back and get it, I'll wait for you at the foot of the mountain," Wen Fei said without turning his head.
Li Wei stood in the pavilion watching Wen Fei descend the mountain. She wondered if she had gone too far today, but it was Wen Fei who had spied on her! Thinking of this, she felt a little better. But her grandfather was acting strangely today, actually going along with her and sending Wen Fei down the mountain. She felt there must be something going on.
Changsheng, panting, went up the mountain to retrieve his luggage and saw Li Wei standing on the pavilion. He hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Miss, please plead with Master Li for our Fourth Master. He really didn't mean to peep at you. It wasn't easy for our Fourth Master to come out and learn martial arts. Please, I beg you." As he spoke, Changsheng knelt down on the ground with a thud.
"Get up! I can't help you with this," Li Wei said.
"Don't you call Elder Li Grandfather? Your relationship must be quite special. Please, young lady!" Changsheng kept kowtowing.
Li Wei quickly climbed down from the pavilion and walked to Changsheng's side.
“Get up quickly. It was your fourth master who went up the back mountain. He violated the principles of Wenxian Pavilion. It’s not something I can control,” Li Wei said.
“Miss knows this isn’t the first time we’ve been to the back mountain. Why weren’t we punished last time?” Changsheng said.
"That's because no one reported you," Li Wei said in a low voice.
“Furthermore, I’ve looked at the punishment system, and this clause wasn’t there before; it was newly added,” Changsheng said.
“Since this clause is already in place, it should be implemented, regardless of when it was added,” Li Wei said calmly.
"Wenxian Pavilion is just an empty name! Our Fourth Master is bullied wherever he goes," Changsheng said angrily.
"I don't care what your Fourth Master does, but please don't insult Wenxian Pavilion. I was thinking of pleading with the old pavilion master because I felt sorry for you, but since you say so, then forget it. You can leave now." Li Wei flicked his sleeves, leaped up into the pavilion, and went straight into the room.
"Girl, don't go! I was just talking nonsense. Please, plead for our Fourth Master!" Changsheng shouted loudly.
Wen Fei grumbled and cursed as he walked down the mountain. He was conflicted. He couldn't go back to the Wenwang Mansion after he got down the mountain. He had finally managed to get out and wanted to find his second brother, but he didn't know where his second brother was. He had no experience traveling in the martial world and was bound to be deceived. Whatever, he would just take it one step at a time. As Wen Fei was thinking this, he accidentally stepped into a hole.
"Oh my god! Am I going to fall off a cliff? Help! I don't want to die!" Wenfei thought to himself.
"Help! Help! Someone has fallen off a cliff!" Wenfei shouted with his eyes closed.
Wenfei's body plummeted downwards. He thought he was done for; he had lost his life after transmigrating. He shouted, "Grandma! Where are you? I'm coming to find you!"
Wenfei felt his body stop falling. He opened his eyes and saw that he was hanging on a big tree. He dared not move. He looked around and observed his surroundings. What a close call! He almost fell into the abyss.
Wenfei grabbed a relatively thick branch, slowly turned his body around, and carefully moved to the trunk of the tree. He held the tree tightly with both hands, wrapped his legs and feet around the trunk, and carefully slid down to the bottom of the tree. He found a cave next to the tree, so he went into the cave without caring what was inside. In any case, it was safer to go into the cave than to fall to his death.
Changsheng packed his luggage and hurried down the mountain to find Wenfei. When he got down the mountain, he couldn't find Wenfei anywhere. He asked a boy down the mountain, but the boy hadn't seen Wenfei come down the mountain. Changsheng was so anxious that he shouted loudly. He kept shouting as he went up the mountain to look for him. When he got halfway up the mountain, he found some rags hanging on a bush. He went up and pulled them up to take a closer look. Wasn't that Wenfei's clothes?
"Fourth Master, where have you gone?" Changsheng called out, pushing aside the bushes in front of him. A bottomless hole came into view. "Fourth Master, are you in there? Answer me! Fourth Master!" Changsheng cried out anxiously.
By this time, Wenfei had already entered the cave. The further he went in, the dimmer the light became. Wenfei had no tinderbox on him, so he could only grope his way forward by feeling.
Wenfei was also uneasy. He was afraid that he would encounter a monster like those in movies and novels and be eaten. He walked forward hesitantly, constantly telling himself, "Please don't let any monsters appear, please don't eat me, I still need to travel back in time, I don't want to die here, Buddha protect me!"
Changsheng shouted for a long time from above, but there was no response from below, so he had no choice but to go up the mountain to ask Li Chaoyang for help.
When Li Chaoyang heard that Wen Fei had fallen off a cliff, he quickly led everyone to the spot where Wen Fei had fallen.
Li Chaoyang had the bushes cleared away, and he looked thoughtfully at the cave entrance.
"Are you sure Wenfei fell from here?"
"Old Master, look, these are the fragments of Fourth Master's clothes that we found here." Changsheng showed the fragments to Li Chaoyang.
"Wenfei's life is over," Li Chaoyang said regretfully.
"Impossible! Our Fourth Master is incredibly lucky. He survived falling from the building, so he can't die this time either! Elder Master, please, save our Fourth Master!" Changsheng knelt on the ground and begged.
“Many people have fallen to their deaths in this cave. We put up a stone tablet to remind passing disciples not to walk through here. Why did your Fourth Master insist on walking through here?” Li Chaoyang said.
Changsheng looked around and sure enough, there was a stone tablet not far away that read, "There is a fall hole here. Please be careful and detour."
