The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 194 Confession

Just as Wenjie was about to walk over to her, Liang Feiyan suddenly turned around and was about to leave.

“Miss Liang!” Wenjie called out.

"What brings you here, Young Master Wen?" Liang Feiyan stopped in her tracks.

"Am I a plague god? Why do you all run away when you see me?" Wenjie said with a smile.

“They probably all have things on their minds,” Liang Feiyan said.

"And what about you?" Wenjie asked.

"I suddenly remembered that I should go change the bandages for the wounded soldiers," Liang Feiyan said.

"The war is over. What are your plans for the future?" Wenjie asked.

“I will go to the northern desert and western regions to find my father!” Liang Feiyan said.

“Oh! It’s been ten years since Uncle Liang left,” Wenjie said.

“No matter where he is, no matter how long it takes, I will bring him back,” Liang Feiyan said.

"Did you inform Wenxian Pavilion? You haven't finished your studies there yet," Wenjie said.

“I explained it to Pavilion Master Li when he left, and he supported my decision to go,” Liang Feiyan said.

"Oh! That's good." Wenjie stopped talking.

"I have to go now!" Liang Feiyan wanted to leave quickly.

“Go ahead!” Wenjie said.

As Liang Feiyan departed, Wenjie watched her retreating figure. After this great battle, he realized that Liang Feiyan was an exceptionally calm and resilient woman. The battlefield was cruel; she meticulously treated and bandaged the wounded, and faced the enemy with composure, showing no fear whatsoever.

Wenjie was conflicted. Ever since Shangguan Xingyun returned from the eastern border, she seemed completely different. She had become much more cheerful and enjoyed joking around with them. Compared to the aloof and taciturn Shangguan Xingyun of the past, she was practically a different person. Wenjie didn't know what she had experienced on the northeastern border, but he was certain that she had met someone who could make her happy.

Looking back on his life in the martial arts world over the past ten years, Wenjie realized that he was like a drifting duckweed, constantly on the move. Although his body was not bound, his heart was. He had always believed that as long as he silently held onto a relationship, others would be moved by him. In reality, all of this was probably just wishful thinking on his part.

Wenjie was particularly envious of Wenfei. Although Wenfei and Liwei bickered every day, you could tell from their eyes that they liked each other.

"This damn dilemma!" Wenjie cursed inwardly, he was also cursing himself.

“Wenfei! I think your second brother is really spineless. What is he thinking? He keeps wavering between Sister Shangguan and Sister Feiyan. He's so unreliable. Are all the men in your Wen family like this?” Li Wei said.

"Don't generalize! I, Wenfei, am a very loyal person when it comes to relationships," Wenfei said.

“Who knows?” Li Wei said.

"Then let time prove it!" Wenfei said.

"I'll wait and see!" Li Wei said.

“Li Wei, I accept your test!” Wen Fei said.

Shangguan Xingyun was alone on the hillside. She had never properly appreciated the scenery of the northern border, always coming and going in a hurry. She felt that after so many years of wandering and drifting, she had never wanted to stop for a single day. Now she felt a little tired and wanted to find a place to settle down.

"Yun'er!" Shangguan Chenxing came out of the tent and saw Shangguan Xingyun.

Shangguan Xingyun turned around and walked towards Shangguan Chenxing.

"father!"

Why are you here all alone? Where are they?

I want to be alone for a while.

Did something unpleasant happen?

"No! I just want to know what I should do next?"

“Child! You’re all grown up now. I don’t want to interfere with your life. As long as you’re comfortable, your mother and I will respect your choices,” Shangguan Chenxing said.

"Thank you!" Shangguan Xingyun said.

"Have you decided where to go?" Shangguan Chenxing asked.

"I want to go to the northeastern border! Last time I went there, the Western Regions army attacked Pingcheng. I was so busy fighting that I didn't get to properly see the beautiful scenery there," Shangguan Xingyun said.

"Go! Don't forget to come back and see your mother and me! And let us know as soon as you have any good news," Shangguan Xingyun said.

“Yes, Father!” Shangguan Xingyun said.

"When do we set off?" Shangguan Chenxing asked.

"I'm leaving first thing tomorrow morning!" Shangguan Xingyun said.

"I'll tell your mother to make dumplings for you!" Shangguan Chenxing said.

"Father! You and Mother must take good care of yourselves!" Shangguan Xingyun said with heartache when he saw that Shangguan Chenxing's temples were gray.

"Don't worry, go ahead! Your brother and sister-in-law are here at home!" Shangguan Chenxing said.

"Father! Go ahead and get busy! I'll stay a little longer," Shangguan Xingyun said.

Shangguan Chenxing left for the main camp. Shangguan Xingyun stayed on the hillside for a while before walking down. She saw Wenjie looking around from below. She no longer deliberately avoided him. Shangguan Xingyun came down and walked to Wenjie's side. Wenjie seemed a little awkward when he saw her.

"Wenjie! Were you waiting for me?" Shangguan Xingyun asked.

"I have something to tell you," Wenjie said.

"I also have something to tell you," Shangguan Xingyun said.

“You go first!” Wenjie said.

“Very well! I’m leaving the Northern Border tomorrow; I’m heading to the northeastern frontier,” Shangguan Xingyun said.

"Oh! I wish you a safe journey!" Wenjie said.

"What do you want to tell me?" Shangguan Xingyun asked.

“You know that my feelings for you in the past were all from the bottom of my heart. Every time you rejected me, it only strengthened my confidence. But after you came back from the northeastern border, I noticed that you had changed. I knew that you had met the right person, so I wanted to tell you that I wish you all the best!” Wenjie said.

"Feiyan is a rare and wonderful girl. Losing her would be your greatest loss!" Shangguan Xingyun said.

"I know what to do! Thank you for being a part of my life all these years, leaving me with so many memories! I won't see you off tomorrow! Goodbye!" Wenjie turned and left.

As Shangguan Xingyun watched Wenjie walk away, she felt that her decision was even more correct. She could leave without any guilt, and her heart was filled with immense relief.

Wenjie felt relieved. He was no longer entangled in a hopeless relationship. He let go and felt so relaxed and comfortable. He wanted to run and shout loudly without any restraint.

"Ah...!" Wenjie shouted and ran.

"Is that Young Master Wen? He must have been traumatized!" the soldiers murmured.

"Sister Feiyan! Something terrible has happened! You must go and check on Young Master Wen! He's gone mad!" Li Wei ran to Liang Feiyan's side and said.

"Where is he?" Liang Feiyan asked anxiously.

“Over there! Look, he’s still shouting!” Li Wei said, pointing to Wenjie running in the distance.

Liang Feiyan ran quickly towards Wenjie and shouted, "Wenjie, what's wrong with you?"

Wenjie was so tired that he lay down on the ground. Liang Feiyan ran to his side and squatted down.

"Wenjie! What's wrong?" Liang Feiyan asked anxiously.

"I'm fine, I just let myself off the hook, Feiyan! I'm sorry!" Wenjie looked at Liang Feiyan with deep affection.

Liang Feiyan was taken aback by the sudden apology, so she changed the subject: "Let me see if you're hurt anywhere?"

"I'm fine! Better than ever! Why don't you take my pulse?" Wenjie said, taking Liang Feiyan's hand and placing it on his own pulse. "Do you feel it's beating fast? This is beating for you!"

Liang Feiyan quickly withdrew her hand, unsure of where to put it.

When Wenjie saw her shy expression, he burst into laughter.
