The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 161 Yuchi Liang Returns to the Royal Court

Helian Ming's troops on the northeastern border reorganized their forces, and in order to cooperate with Nabulu Khan, Helian Ming prepared to launch another attack on Pingcheng.

Murong Bo of the Northern Dynasty has stopped attending court for the past few days. He sits in the Zhengqian Palace every day, waiting for news of the start of war from the border.

Nabru Khan led his 300,000-strong army from the Western Regions to continue their advance. On his return journey, Yuchi Liang encountered the royal court and entered Nabru Khan's tent.

Looking at the weary Yuchi Liang from his journey, Bulu Khan said, "My dear minister, you have suffered greatly. Go back to your tent and rest!"

"Khan! Have all my family members arrived?" Yuchi Liang asked.

"Of course! You've devoted yourself to our grasslands, so I must take good care of your family as well," Nabru Khan said with a smile.

"Thank you, Khan!" Yuchi Liang knelt down and reported to Nabulu Khan about the situation at the northwest border and Li Linlie's decision.

"Go and reunite with your family!" Nabru Khan said after hearing Yuchi Liang's report.

After thanking the Khan, Yuchi Liang found his tent with the help of a man.

Yu Chi Liang walked into the tent and saw his wife and two children inside. Seeing them, Yu Chi Liang felt a surge of joy at being alive!

"Master! You're finally back!" Madam Yuchi helped Yuchi Liang sit down in a chair, and their two children also greeted him. Yuchi Liang felt very happy.

"You haven't been wronged, have you?" Yu Chi Liang asked, holding his wife's hand.

“Ever since Master left the main tent, Nabulu Khan has sent people to guard our family day and night. All the food, drink and daily necessities in the house have been sent by people arranged by Nabulu Khan,” said Madam Yuchi.

"It's good that you didn't suffer!" Yuchi Liang said.

"Yuchi! You're finally back!" Shou Shangxing came in from outside.

"Old Shou, have you been following the royal court all this way?" Yuchi Liang asked Shou Shangxing.

“That’s right! Otherwise, I’d be all alone on the grassland again,” Shou Shangxing said.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve had a drink together. Madam, please prepare some wine and dishes. Old Shou and I will have a few drinks,” said Yuchi Liang. Madam Yuchi then took the two children to make the arrangements.

"How was the trip?" Shou Shangxing asked.

“At least I’m back safe and sound!” Yuchi Liang said.

"Has the goal been achieved?" Shou Shangxing asked.

"This is classified information; we can't just talk about it!" Yuchi Liang said.

“Let me guess!” Shou Shangxing squinted and thought for a moment. “Based on my understanding of Li Chaoyang, his son should have inherited his loyalty to the country and the people. You didn’t convince Li Linlie.”

Yu Chi Liang simply smiled, picked up a cup of milk tea, took a sip, and said, "Milk tea is still the best!"

"What's so good about it! It smells like mutton!" Shou Shangxing said with a laugh.

“Old Shou, I think you should just go back to your Great Lu Kingdom and drink your tree leaves!” Yuchi Liang said.

"To be honest, our tea tastes better than yours!" Shou Shangxing took a small sip of his milk tea, his face contorted with disgust.

"Look at the way you're behaving!" Yu Chi Liang said.

Madam Yuchi brought the wine and dishes into the tent and placed them on the table. Shou Shangxing picked up the wine pot and said, "No need to trouble you, Madam. We'll do it ourselves!"

"Look at how impatient you are!" Yuchi Liang mocked.

Shou Shangxing poured himself a glass of wine and said, "This is all I have to offer about the Western Regions."

"Then let's drink!" Yu Chi Liang picked up a cup of wine and drank it all in one gulp.

Inside the main tent, Nabru Khan listened as Yelu recounted their experiences in Ningcheng, and then Yelu recounted Li Linlie's decision to him.

“Khan! Something feels off. Li Linlie couldn’t possibly have submitted to us so easily,” Yale said.

"What is Yuchi Liang's attitude toward this matter?" Naburu Khan asked.

“Yuchi Liang remained silent the entire way, and I did not ask him anything,” Yale said.

“We are now very close to Li Linlie, and our decisive battle is about to begin,” said Nabru Khan.

"Your subject respectfully wishes the Khan great success!" Yale said.

"I have brought all the tribal leaders here. We will convene a royal court meeting immediately to decide when to begin our war," said Nabru Khan.

"What can I do for the Khan?" Yale asked.

"You should continue to monitor Yuchi Liang's family, and make sure he doesn't escape!" Naburu Khan said.

“I will keep a close eye on them,” Yale said.

“Go!” said Nabru Khan.

Yale withdrew from the royal court and summoned his men to accompany him to the outside of Yuchi Liang's tent. He instructed his men to continue monitoring Yuchi Liang and to report any developments to him.

After giving his instructions to his men, Yale hurriedly left to enjoy himself with his lover.

Shou Shangxing was completely drunk in Yuchi Liang's tent. Yuchi Liang looked at Shou Shangxing, who was lying drunk on the ground, and laughed loudly: "You old Shou, your drinking capacity is still not good. You have been no match for me, Yuchi Liang, for so many years."

Shou Shangxing suddenly stood up from the ground and said, "Drink some more!" Then he lay down on the ground again.

"Ha! Ha! Old Shou, you're far from good enough!" Yu Chi Liang picked up his wine cup again and drank it all in one gulp.

Madam Yuchi came in from outside, snatched the wine cup from Yuchi Liang's hand, and said, "Master! Don't drink anymore!"

Looking at his wife, Yu Chi Liang buried his face in her arms and burst into tears, crying, "My lady! I, Yu Chi Liang, am incompetent and have failed you and the children!"

"Master has done very well! Please don't blame yourself," Madam Yuchi comforted him.

"Madam! I'm afraid our Yuchi family is doomed," Yuchi Liang said, wiping away his tears.

"No matter what, it's a good thing that our family is together," said Madam Yuchi.

“Madam! You are always so magnanimous. I, Yuchi Liang, am truly blessed to have married a woman like you,” Yuchi Liang said.

“Master! What will Bulu Khan do to you? Should I go and beg my father and brother to plead with the Khan to spare us?” said Madam Yuchi.

“No need! When the time comes, Madam only needs to hold herself and the children. You don’t need to worry about me! Madam, you must remember this!” Yuchi Liang said.

"My lord! How can I leave you all alone!" said Madam Yuchi.

"Do as I say! Otherwise, our whole family's lives will be in danger," Yu Chi Liang said.

Yuchi Liang had no choice but to prepare for the worst. He knew that his wife's family was the Duanmu family, which was second only to Naburu Khan in the Western Regions. His father-in-law, Duanmu Xi, held a position in the Western Regions second only to Naburu Khan, and his brother-in-law, Duanmu Lei, held a very high position in the Western Regions army. If Naburu Khan attacked him, his wife and children could escape with the help of his father-in-law's family. As for himself, he had long since disregarded his own life and death.
