The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 140 Meeting Feng Weiran

Li Chaoyang stood at the window of the attic, looking into the distance, watching Nangong Xun descend the mountain.

Li Chaoyang originally wanted to see Nangong Xun off, since Nangong Xun hadn't come down the mountain for so many years. However, Nangong Xun told him not to be so sentimental, that he would be back in a few days and would continue to pick fights with Li Chaoyang when he returned.

Li Chaoyang was uncertain about Nangong Xun's descent from the mountain. The Feng family manor had always stayed out of state affairs, like a secluded paradise. If Feng Weiran hadn't fallen deeply in love with the handsome Nangong Xun, the Feng family army wouldn't have made an exception to rescue the Da Lu Kingdom's army from its predicament.

Time has passed, things have changed, I wonder if Nangong Xun still holds such an important place in Feng Weiran's heart?

When Li Chaoyang learned that Feng Weiran had a daughter, he sent people to investigate and confirmed that the daughter was his and Nangong Xun's child. However, when Nangong Xun was forced to leave Feng Weiran, for some reason Feng Weiran did not tell Nangong Xun.

So many years have passed, and they have both chosen to live alone. Nangong Xun has never forgotten Feng Weiran; she has taken deep root in his heart.

Nangong Xun left Wenxian Pavilion and boarded the carriage that Li Chaoyang had prepared for him, swaying and bumping along the way towards Liangcheng in the northwest.

Along the way, Nangong Xun could not hide his excitement, and past events flashed before his eyes.

Nangong Xun was very eager to see Feng Weiran. He kept urging the coachman to speed up, and the coachman vigorously cracked the whip, and the horse galloped forward with all its might.

After two days of travel, the carriage stopped outside the Feng Family Manor in Liangcheng.

Nangong Xun lifted the curtain and peeked out, looking at the Feng family manor. The coachman helped him out of the carriage. Looking at the familiar place before him, Nangong Xun sighed, "It hasn't changed at all over the years."

Two guards stood at the entrance of the manor. Nangong Xun took off the jade pendant with the dragon and phoenix design that he had worn for many years from his waist and handed it to the guard.

"Give this to your Master Feng and tell him that an old friend has come to visit," Nangong Xun said.

The guard took the jade pendant, turned and walked into the manor. A moment later, the guard came running out from inside.

"Sir please!"

Nangong Xun walked slowly into the Feng family manor.

The moment Nangong Xun entered the Feng family manor, a pair of eyes looked at him with deep affection.

“We’re getting old! We’re all getting old!” Feng Weiran said.

“Mother! He is Nangong Xun!” Feng Xunnan asked.

“Yes!” Feng Weiran said.

"What brings him to our Feng family manor today?" Feng Xunnan asked.

“Something big must be happening, otherwise he wouldn’t have come here. It’s really tough on him!” Feng Weiran chuckled dryly.

"What exactly caused Nangong Xun, who had been in seclusion for many years, to reappear in the martial arts world?" Feng Xunnan asked.

"We'll find out soon," Feng Weiran said.

Nangong Xun arrived at the main hall of the manor, which was empty. After looking around, Nangong Xun said, "An old friend has come here. Do you not wish to see me?"

"Is Mr. Nangong very familiar with our Feng Family Manor?" Feng Xunnan asked as he came out from the back hall.

When Nangong Xun saw that the person who came was not Feng Weiran, his heart sank. Why didn't she come out? Was she already gone, or was she sick?

"Where is Feng Weiran?" Nangong Xun asked.

“How can Mr. Nangong directly mention my mother’s name?” Feng Xunan said.

"You are her daughter!" Nangong Xun said in surprise.

Feng Xunnan nodded and said, "Yes."

Nangong Xun carefully examined the woman in front of him. She looked somewhat similar to Feng Weiran, so it was probably true that she was her daughter. However, he couldn't rashly acknowledge her as his daughter. Although Li Chaoyang had confirmed that he and Feng Weiran had a daughter, he still needed Feng Weiran to admit it herself.

"Mr. Nangong, have you looked enough?" Feng Xunnan felt a little disgusted. What was that old man staring at me for? He seemed like a pervert.

"Excuse me! I think you look a lot like her," Nangong Xun said awkwardly.

"Is Mr. Nangong very familiar with my mother?" Feng Xunnan asked.

"We are old friends. It's just that I've been retired for many years and haven't had any contact with your Feng Family Manor. Please forgive my sudden visit today! But how is your mother?" Nangong Xun said.

“She’s doing very well!” Feng Xunan said.

"May I meet with her?" Nangong Xun asked cautiously.

“I can’t make that decision! I need to ask her first,” Feng Xunan said.

Feng Xunnan entered the back hall and went to Feng Weiran's room.

“Mother! That Nangong Xun wants to see you!” Feng Xunnan said.

“Since we’re here, let’s meet up. After all, we haven’t seen each other for many years,” Feng Weiran said.

Nangong Xun waited in the front hall, feeling a strange excitement in his heart. His heart, which had been dormant for many years, was stirred up once again.

"Let's see who's coming to see me?" Feng Weiran walked out from the back hall.

Nangong Xun looked at Feng Weiran, and their eyes met. Nangong Xun seemed to have a hallucination, as if he saw a young Feng Weiran walking leisurely to his side.

“Nangong Xun is already so old, and you’re still so clueless!” Feng Weiran said, seeing Nangong Xun’s infatuated expression.

“It’s like I’m seeing you when you were young again,” Nangong Xun said gently.

"Is this all you came here to tell me? Get to the point!" Feng Weiran was still as impulsive as ever.

"To be honest, I, Nangong Xun, didn't want to come. It was Li Chaoyang who forced me to come," Nangong Xun said.

“I like your down-to-earth nature,” Feng Weiran said.

“Li Chaoyang sent me here; he wants to borrow your Feng family army for a while,” Nangong Xun said.

"Anything else?" Feng Weiran asked.

"That's all," Nangong Xun said honestly.

“Daughter! He’s come here to borrow troops, will you lend them to him?” Feng Weiran asked.

“Our Feng family manor has never been involved in state affairs, so I will not lend it!” Feng Xunan refused.

“Nangong, there’s nothing I can do! She’s the head of the manor now, and I have to live my life according to her wishes,” Feng Weiran said.

“You’ve stepped down!” Nangong Xun said.

“I haven’t been the head of the manor for many years!” Feng Weiran said.

“You’re her mother, yet you can’t make the decision?” Nangong Xun said.

“I never interfere with her decisions,” Feng Weiran said.

"That old bastard Li Chaoyang deliberately sent me here to make things difficult for me. I'm not doing this anymore! I'm going back to Wenxian Pavilion!" Nangong Xun said, turning to walk out.

"Oh! Mother is leaving!" Feng Xunnan said.

"Let him go! I'll see if he can walk out of this door!" Feng Weiran knew Nangong Xun all too well.

Nangong Xun was about to walk out the door when he saw that no one came to stop him. He said to himself, "Is this how you treat your guests at the Feng Family Manor?"

“You chose to leave! Why should we keep you?” Feng Xunnan said.

"Are you going to help Feng Weiran or not?" Nangong Xun asked.

“I can help, but I have one condition,” Feng Weiran said.

“You speak!” Nangong Xun said matter-of-factly.
