The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 135 Seeking Justice for Yuchi Liang

Inside the royal court, Yuchi Liang and Kemir were brought in again for further interrogation.

"Yuchi Liang, is there anything else you'd like to say?" General Hulun asked.

"I've said everything I needed to say, and I don't want to repeat myself again," Yu Chi Liang said expressionlessly.

"And you, Kemir?" General Hulun asked.

"Khan! General! I was implicated by Prince Yuchi. All I did was treat him and those people from the Northern Desert to a meal and a few drinks, and Prince Yuchi wrongly accused me of being a traitor from the Western Regions. I'm so unlucky," Kemir continued to argue.

General Hulun glanced at Nabulu Khan, who asked, "Why haven't I seen Wenfei and Li Wei today?"

“Someone saw them heading towards Buke City,” General Hulun said.

“Oh! They should be back soon, right?” said Nabru Khan.

"I don't know if they will come back," General Hulun said.

When Yuchi Liang heard that Wen Fei and the others had gone to Book City, he knew he was saved.

Camille was unconvinced. Even if they went to Booker to gather evidence, they would find nothing. He was certain that he had done it flawlessly.

"Let's wait a little longer!" said Nabru Khan.

"What are you waiting for, Khan?" General Hulun asked, puzzled.

Nabru Khan closed his eyes, and the tent was completely silent; one could even hear breathing.

"Khan! Wenfei and the others are back!" A soldier entered the tent, breaking the tranquility within.

Wenfei and Li Wei dismounted and ran into the tent with the waiter.

"Khan! I've brought the witness!" Wenfei said.

"Who is he?" Nabru Khan asked.

"Greetings, Khan!" The waiter knelt on the ground. "I am a waiter at the restaurant in Book City."

“Khan, this young man can prove that Prince Yuchi is innocent,” Wen Fei said.

“Tell me slowly, waiter!” said Nabru Khan.

The waiter recounted everything he had seen at the restaurant, which enraged everyone present.

"Damn Camille! He'd betray his own country for money, how despicable! He deserves to die!"

"I've been framed!" Camille panicked when he saw the waiter come in, and he still tried to make a last-ditch effort.

"Kamir! I've never done anything wrong to you before, but you betrayed my Western Regions, causing great losses to all the tribes there. You even slandered Prince Yuchi! Your mistakes are unforgivable! Guards, drag him out and behead him!" Nabru Khan said angrily.

"Khan! Spare me! Khan! I will never do it again! I offer you all my gold and silver treasures! Please spare my dog's life!" Camille cried out in a pig-like voice.

"Yuchi! I, the Khan, have wronged you!" Nabulu Khan rose from his throne and walked to Yuchi Liang's side to comfort him.

"Khan! Your Majesty, I thank you for upholding justice for me!" said Yuchi Liang.

"Uncle!" Li Wei rushed into Yu Chi Liang's arms.

"Good boy! Uncle thanks you!" Yuchi Liang nodded at Wenfei.

Wen Fei smiled and nodded to Yu Chi Liang.

After the turmoil, Yuchi Liang was reinstated. He heard Wen Fei and Li Wei talking about the expansion of the northern desert and the invasion of the western army on the eastern border of the Great Lu Kingdom. He went to the royal court immediately.

"Why are you out here instead of resting in your tent, my dear minister?" Nabru Khan said.

"I have heard that our various tribes in the Western Regions have been chased all the way here by the Northern Desert tribes. When did the small Northern Desert tribes become so arrogant? And why did the Helian tribe surrender to the Northern Desert tribes and even attack the northeastern border of the Great Lu Kingdom? This is very disadvantageous for us! Khan!" Yuchi Liang said.

"Let's not talk about this anymore for now!" Nabru Khan said, looking at General Helian.

Yu Chi Liang then turned to General Helian: "General, why did your tribe betray the royal court?"

Helian Hui's face showed an ugly expression. He had been extremely annoyed about the fact that his Helian tribe had betrayed the royal court. He didn't know why his brother Helian Ming had become a lackey of the northern tribes. This matter made him feel very ashamed in front of Bulu Khan.

“Your Highness Yuchi, I don’t understand why my brother is like this either. But I have already severed ties with them. If I ever encounter them again, they will be my enemies, Helian Hui,” Helian Hui said loudly.

"Alright! Don't mention this again!" said Nabru Khan.

"Khan, those two children have come to the Western Regions seeking help. Are we really not going to help them?" Yuchi Liang said.

“We were driven here by the northern tribes, and we are already in dire need of our own lives. How can we possibly have the energy to help them? If they want to stay here for a few days, just serve them good food and drink!” said Nabru Khan.

"I have a question," said Yuchi Liang.

"Speak!" said Nabru Khan.

“The northern tribes have been chasing us all the way here. I wonder why the Khan isn’t in a hurry?” Yuchi Liang voiced his doubts.

"You audacious Yuchi Liang, do you think you can guess what I'm thinking? Get out of here!" Nabulu Khan said angrily.

Yuchi Liang left the main tent and returned to his own.

"How is the prince?" Wenfei asked.

“I feel that the Khan is acting strangely, but I can’t quite explain why,” Yuchi Liang said.

“I actually expected that Bulu Khan wouldn’t help us. In the face of self-interest, everything else is meaningless,” Wenfei said.

"Wenfei, what are you saying now?" Li Wei asked.

"Your Highness, I thought the Western Regions were also involved in this attack on our northeastern border," Wen Fei said.

“Speak!” Yuchi Liang said.

"It was your Western Regions army that attacked our northeastern border, not the much-hyped Northern Desert tribes. In fact, we haven't even seen a single soldier from the Northern Desert tribes. On this vast grassland, without the protection of the Western Regions army, Nabru Khan can calmly drink milk tea in his tent. Isn't he afraid of the Northern Desert tribes attacking? Actually, the claims about the Northern Desert tribes expanding and attacking the Great Lu Kingdom are just a pretext fabricated by Nabru Khan. It is actually your Western Regions that want to attack my Great Lu Kingdom, not the Northern Desert tribes," Wen Fei said.

“If that’s really the case, then a war between the Western Regions and the Great Lu Kingdom is inevitable. After all, Bulu Khan’s dream when he was young was to break through the Great Lu Kingdom and then occupy it,” Yuchi Liang said.

"I didn't expect him to be so ambitious!" Li Wei said.

"Since war is inevitable, let the two sides have a showdown on the battlefield and let strength speak for itself!" Wen Fei said.

"Wenfei, war is too cruel! My parents are on the northwest border, they are in great danger!" Li Wei said worriedly.

"We can't fight! We absolutely mustn't let a fight break out!" Yu Chi Liang said.

“Prince Yuchi! Don’t waste your energy. I think Bulu Khan has already made up his mind,” Wen Fei said.

Yuchi Liang had already suspected that Bulu Khan was behind this while he was in the royal tent, and he knew that this great battle was inevitable.
