The Young Swordsman of Dalu
Chapter 11 I'll send you to Wenxian Pavilion
During his confinement, Wenfei didn't stay idle. Every day, he would search high and low for his green thumb ring, the only thing his grandmother had left him. He couldn't lose it; his grandmother had said it could save his life, and he had to find it.
Every day, Changsheng watched Wenfei searching over and over again, not knowing what he was looking for, and he was very anxious.
"Fourth Master, what are you looking for? Tell Changsheng, and I'll help you look for it," Changsheng said.
"Chang Sheng, when I fainted earlier, did you see where the green thumb ring I had gone?" Wen Fei asked.
“A green thumb ring? No, Fourth Master. You’ve never had one,” Changsheng said.
"Have I never had a green thumb ring?" Wenfei asked.
“If you have it, I will definitely know, unless you don’t want me to know,” Changsheng said confidently.
"That's strange, where did my green thumb ring go?" Wenfei muttered to himself.
"Is Fourth Master looking for something that doesn't even exist?" Changsheng asked curiously.
"Let me think about it carefully, maybe I remembered it wrong," Wenfei said.
"Fourth Master, will you suffer any lasting damage to your head?" Changsheng asked worriedly.
"Can you say something nice to me? You're just talking nonsense," Wenfei said, feigning anger.
"I'm serious, Fourth Master, how about we ask Miss Liang to prick you with a needle again?" Changsheng said.
"You really dote on me, thank you so much," Wenfei said, his eyes wide.
"Fourth Master, did I say something wrong?" Changsheng asked.
“You’re right, I need some peace and quiet,” Wenfei said.
"I'll take my leave now, Fourth Master, please rest." Changsheng withdrew.
A few days later, the trial of Zhao Meng's case began. Wen Fei was summoned to the capital city several times. After explaining what happened at the Manhua Tower, he was not summoned again, and Wen Fei's courtyard enjoyed a few quiet days.
Wenfei recalled that before he transmigrated, he was a high school sophomore. Although he grew up with his grandmother, he never neglected his studies. His grandmother doted on him and was very successful in guiding him in his studies. From the beginning of his schooling, he was always at the top of his class and rarely caused his grandmother any worry. But in this time and space, the original owner of this body was a complete academic failure. Not only did he have a bad reputation, but he was also ignorant and incompetent. No wonder others looked down on him.
"It's time to show my strength! I want to study, I want to learn martial arts," Wenfei muttered to himself.
He asked Changsheng to find him books for this era. He not only wanted to absorb knowledge, but also to learn martial arts from a master, and he wanted to travel the world with a sword like his second brother.
The news of the fourth prince's diligent studies spread quickly. Prince Wen himself couldn't believe his rebellious youngest son had become so ambitious; he even thought Wenfei's fall was a good thing, perhaps it had cleared his head. Prince Wen also granted Wenfei's request to learn martial arts, intending to send him back to the Wenxian Pavilion. Before going, he wanted to have a serious talk with Wenfei.
That day, Prince Wen returned to his residence from the morning court and went to Wen Fei's courtyard. He saw Wen Fei reading under the pavilion and, curious about what he was reading, approached to take a look.
"You unfilial son, I knew you wouldn't study properly, you'd end up reading this low-class stuff!" The prince snatched the book—"Interesting Stories of Love"—from Wenfei's hand and said angrily.
Wenfei was caught off guard by the sudden attack and stammered, unsure of what to say.
"You unfilial son, pack your things. I'm sending you to Wenxian Pavilion. I never want to see you again." Prince Wen said angrily as he walked out of Wen Fei's courtyard.
Changsheng rushed over upon hearing the commotion.
"Fourth Master, what's wrong? I saw the Prince leave in a huff."
Wenfei didn't say anything and went into the room.
"Fourth Master, I've found all the books you asked me to find for you," Changsheng said as he entered the room.
"Chang Sheng, what is Wenxian Pavilion for?" Wen Fei asked.
“Fourth Master, don’t you remember? You went to Wenxian Pavilion when you were three years old,” Changsheng said.
"Sent to Wenxian Pavilion at such a young age? They're really willing to do that." Wenfei couldn't believe it.
“Yes, Fourth Master, I’ll go with you too,” Changsheng said.
"They're really something, throwing two babies out like that. How can they live with themselves?" Wenfei said angrily.
"I still owe it all to you, Fourth Master. Those days at Wenxian Pavilion were truly the happiest days of our lives," Changsheng said.
"You really like that place. Where is Wenxian Pavilion? Is it far from here? What does it do?" Wenfei asked.
“Not only do I like it, but you, Fourth Master, like it even more. He is in Xizhou, which is several hundred miles away from here. Wenxian Pavilion gathers the best talents in the world. The old pavilion master, Li Chaoyang, is a man of both literary and martial talents and is a pillar of our Great Lu Kingdom,” Changsheng said proudly.
"If you liked it there, why did I come back?" Wenfei asked.
“Fourth Master, have you really forgotten everything? Back then, you threw the token of love that Madam Li had left for her off the cliff of Wenxian Pavilion. Madam Li searched for a long time but couldn’t find it, and in a fit of anger, she kicked you out of Wenxian Pavilion,” Changsheng said.
"What kind of token of love is it that Elder Li cherishes so much?" Wen Fei asked.
"I don't know. His wife passed away early, and he treasured the things she left him. I don't know how you found them, but you were curious and took them out to play with them. You accidentally dropped them off the cliff," Changsheng said.
"I'm such an unlucky kid, I always get into trouble wherever I go," Wenfei sighed.
"Fourth Master, don't be discouraged," Changsheng comforted him.
"How many years have we been back from Wenxian Pavilion, Changsheng?" Wenfei asked.
“It’s been almost six years,” Changsheng said.
“My father is sending me back again,” Wenfei said, looking at Changsheng.
"Really? Fourth Master, that's wonderful!" Changsheng said happily.
"Look how happy you are. You didn't even ask me if I wanted to go," Wenfei said.
"Fourth Master, even if you don't learn anything at Wenxian Pavilion, people will still look up to you. Don't you want to study hard and practice martial arts? Wenxian Pavilion has both knowledge and martial arts skills. It's a place that ordinary people can't even go to. Why don't you want to go?" Changsheng said anxiously.
"Whether I go or not, given the current situation, it's not up to me," Wenfei said.
"Fourth Master is worried that Elder Li will cause you trouble, but I don't think so. The Prince will definitely be able to persuade him to take you in," Changsheng said confidently.
"Chang Sheng, what if Elder Li comes after me for what's to come?" Wen Fei asked worriedly.
"Such a distinguished figure as Elder Li wouldn't be so petty, would he? If word got out, people would laugh at him," Changsheng said with a smile.
"What reason did Elder Li use to expel me from Wenxian Pavilion back then?" Wen Fei asked.
"It looks like they're stealing something," Changsheng said softly.
"Stealing? So my bad reputation was spread by Elder Li," Wen Fei said with dissatisfaction.
