Hearing the shouts around him, the butcher became smug and looked at Xu Qingyou with a defiant gaze.

He then added, "You've insulted me so much, I could report you to the authorities!"

Hearing what the butcher said, Xu Qingyou remained unmoved, and Xu Changsheng unknowingly walked to her side.

If the butcher were to intervene, he could help Qingyou hold off the attack.

Seeing Xu Changsheng's actions, Xu Qingyou felt a slight warmth in her heart.

She smiled, her clear eyes scanning the people around her, then turning to the butcher. "You sell pork, you handle pork all day, so naturally your hands are greasy. And the coins on his person are greasy too. But the coins in this vegetable vendor's box are spotless, not a speck of oil! Of course, if you don't believe me, you can take a coin out and drop it in, see if there's any oil in it!"

After saying that, she handed the basin in her hand to the butcher.

The butcher, upon hearing what she said, looked away slightly.

He also took two steps back.

"Yes, why don't you say you'll throw it away—"

The onlookers started arguing amongst themselves.

The butcher hesitated, but finally had no choice but to take out a copper coin from his greasy money bag and throw it into the basin.

With a "plop," the copper coin fell in.

Then, a burst of oil gushed up.

"You didn't pay!"

Before Xu Qingyou could say anything, the people around her started arguing.

Some people even caught the man selling meat.

The butcher originally thought the vegetable vendor was easy to bully, but who knew that a surprise attack would suddenly appear out of nowhere.

It's truly infuriating. Once the butcher saw this, he couldn't really say anything.

Finally, amidst everyone's jeers, he paid and slunk away.

Gradually, the people who had been surrounding them dispersed.

Xu Qingyou scooped all the copper coins out of the basin and handed them to the vegetable vendor. Then she walked to the side and returned the basin to the fishmonger.

"Qingyou, let's go!"

Xu Changsheng called out to Qingyou. He didn't know why, but the more he looked at his daughter, the more he liked her.

"it is good!"

Qingyou smiled slightly and nodded.

"Please wait, you two!"

The one speaking was the old woman who sold vegetables.

"What's wrong, Mother-in-law?"

Xu Qingyou turned around and asked.

"Thanks to your help this time, I'm giving you this vegetable as a gift."

As she spoke, the old woman selling vegetables handed over a small bundle of greens from her hands.

"This is really unnecessary!"

Xu Qingyou quickly waved her hand. She had only spoken, how could she possibly accept someone else's things?

Look at that butcher; the amount of copper coins he didn't give wasn't much.

It seems like what I helped get back, this mother-in-law has now given back to me.

The old woman looked at Xu Qingyou and suddenly smiled, as if she had seen through her thoughts.

"I was so insistent on getting this money just for the sake of fame. He didn't give me the money, but I did! If he doesn't acknowledge it, it will also affect my son's reputation."
