The Path to Lordship Begins in the North
Chapter 225 Fighting
Looking at the surging waves of flames behind him, Hammond realized that the nuns were genuinely worried that he would be a hindrance. The flamethrower's attack range was too large to control. If he weren't wearing armor, Hammond would have even wanted to wipe the sweat from his forehead first.
Even Hammond, who had just led the retreat, could feel the heat wave behind him, let alone the monsters surrounding the nuns. The nuns, meanwhile, scattered across the battlefield, wielding flamethrowers in one hand and chainsaws in the other, frantically reaping the monsters and constantly moving closer to the crazed monsters in the distance.
These flamethrowers were designed from the outset to burn mountains; their attack range was terrifyingly large, and a burning red lotus instantly rose from the rear of the demon battlefield.
Without the same mobile barrier and special equipment as the nuns, it would be impossible to fight alongside them.
As the nuns began to scatter, the uncontrollable and increasingly agitated special monsters abandoned their stationary magical attacks and instead began to run wildly across the battlefield, spewing magic indiscriminately from their large mouths as they ran.
Hammond had never seen anything like this in his entire life of fighting. On one side were cannons and arcane magic, and on the other side were monsters that had inherited bloodline magic. Both sides were using magic as if it were free, and magic was flying everywhere on the battlefield, making it look like the end of the world.
Even the battle-hardened Hammond was somewhat alarmed.
The flanking forces, who had been preparing for some time, rushed into the battlefield. The soldiers raised a water pipe, and holy water sprayed out from the pipe, covering a large area of the battlefield in front. The monsters that came into contact with the holy water immediately stopped moving. At this time, the cavalry troops went down to harvest them. The flanking forces were also using this tactic to gradually approach the center of the battlefield.
"How many of those strange drugs does humanity still have?!"
Standing atop Noam, the demon commander surveyed the chaotic battlefield and grew increasingly tense. He anxiously summoned the demon soldiers beside him and ordered, "Have Daniel and the other soldiers prepare to sabotage the human's waterwheel containing the potion!"
At this moment, the demon commander wiped the sweat from his brow and said, "My lord, Daniel has gone mad again..."
The demon commander's eyes widened as he seemed to remember something. He looked at the nuns not far away, who were using flames as cover and seemingly leaping out of the fire to slaughter the demon god's offspring.
Was everything Daniel said true? Did they really encounter this nun squad and get wiped out and driven mad by fear?
"Useless things!"
The demon commander stomped his foot in anger, but then, as if comforting himself, he muttered to himself, "It's alright. As long as those chosen demon god offspring launch an attack, everything will be fine."
At the same time, the commander also turned his gaze to the so-called chosen demon god's offspring, who was randomly using bloodline magic not far away.
These demon offspring have begun to make contact with the nuns. Flames quickly ignited, and the nuns began to control flamethrowers, attacking these demon offspring who could use bloodline magic. After feeling the pain, the demon offspring became even more violent, constantly attacking their surroundings with bloodline magic.
As the number of these demon god offspring gradually increased and their magic became increasingly violent, Flora and her group began to struggle to withstand the damage. The light of the moving barrier started to flicker, but Flora finally found an opportunity to shut down the flamethrower and, with the help of the moving barrier, fiercely threw holy water at these demon god offspring.
In the instant that the demon's offspring were locked in a stalemate, the other nuns followed suit, stopping their flamethrowers and throwing out holy water. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Flora climbed up the hooves of the demon's offspring, using her Melting Chainsaw Sword to leave a long, deep scar on the giant monster's body.
The monster's tentacles tried to grab Flora, but when they touched her, they recoiled in fear, as Flora had already drenched her entire body with holy water.
Upon reaching the monster's back, Flora shoved the flamethrower into its gaping maw. As she pulled the trigger, orange-red flames erupted from the monster's body, shooting out from the opening Flora had made with her chainsaw sword and burning the monster to ashes.
Flora also fell off the monster. She was panting heavily, and the moving barrier gradually began to glow faintly, as if to remind her that it had already consumed more than half of its energy.
Unfortunately, the energy consumption was calculated to be enough for Flora and the others to reach the giant monster's feet, but the moving barrier consumed even more energy in order to defend against these suddenly appearing monsters that could use bloodline magic.
Looking at the nuns behind her, Flora noticed that the light from the same teleportation barrier was beginning to dim. She and the nuns nodded in unison and put away the flamethrower. They were concerned about the high temperature of the flamethrower and its high energy consumption, and since the flamethrower was meant for the giant monster, the nuns decided to conserve it as much as possible.
Although this would attract more monster attacks, the nuns had already made preparations for it.
After killing a monster capable of using bloodline magic, the nuns, taking a brief moment to catch their breath, continued to pour holy water over themselves and charged headlong into the monsters.
Because of the previous use of flamethrowers, the horses were definitely gone; the poor horses were probably burned to a crisp at some point. Therefore, the nuns' actions on the battlefield were greatly affected.
Flora even began to lose consciousness. Although the largest monster's hoof was already close at hand, the nuns had a hard time dealing with these monsters that could use bloodline magic. Although they could use holy water to annihilate them one by one, it was hard to say whether the magic power of the nuns' moving barrier would be exhausted first, or whether these frenzied monsters would die out first.
Just then, a loud shout came from behind Flora: "I'm here to help you!"
Hammond did not retreat; instead, he led even more of the Lars Knights back to fight.
The knights wielded their melting blades, hacking directly at the monsters' hooves. As the monsters' hooves were chipped and broken, they quickly lost their balance and fell to the ground. The nuns seized the opportunity, sawing open a gap and inserting flamethrowers into it, burning another monster to death from the inside.
Before Flora could speak, Hammond said, "The Governor sent me back."
Flora, who had been dealing with the monster, looked at the sky and realized that so much time had passed.
Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that many of these Lars Knights are even members of the Royal Guard.
The knights dismounted and handed the reins to the nearest nuns. Hammond explained, "We don't have many horses left, and bringing too many would make them easy prey for monsters on the way. These horses are for you to take and burn that big guy!"
Flora and the nuns didn't say much, but quickly mounted their horses with their equipment. The crazed monsters tried to stop the nuns, but were immediately stopped by the guards armed with water guns.
"Your enemies are here! These damned monsters!"
Hammond and his knights raised their weapons and faced the twisted monsters.
At this moment, Noam and the demon commander standing on Noam could clearly feel that the human counterattack was extremely fierce. Not to mention the nun army that went straight to the center and the knights who came to support, even on the flanks, the demons did not gain any advantage. Under the tide of the humans, the monsters had begun to collapse.
“Those potions are too troublesome. I can feel them disconnecting from a certain battlefield every now and then.”
Noam's voice echoed in the demon commander's mind. The demon commander nodded and said reluctantly, "Now that things have come to this, let's retreat first. We'll make further plans after we figure out what that potion is."
Noam roared loudly from his several large mouths, seemingly acknowledging the suggestion. At the same time, his enormous hooves, which had been standing on the battlefield, began to move. Noam was preparing to retreat. With such a massive body, every movement consumed a huge amount of energy, which was why Noam hadn't wanted to move before.
But at that moment, a huge North Wind Bear banner was suddenly raised at the human position, and this banner began to move towards Noam.
