The Path to Lordship Begins in the North
Chapter 223 We're hopeless.
"My lord... what about me?"
Daniel knelt on the ground, almost begging.
"You're no good. We still need some soldiers who haven't been converted to do the work. Alright, get out of here. All you need to do is watch how humanity is crushed by our great warriors. Remember this well: humans are nothing to be afraid of."
After saying that, the commander couldn't help but chuckle, seemingly mocking Daniel's cowardly attempt to escape.
Daniel had no choice but to back down. Even though many of his companions had been transformed into demon god offspring, Daniel still did not have the qualifications. Daniel also knew that this was because he had not only been a deserter but had also been driven mad by humans. Calling a demon god offspring like himself would only bring shame to the demon god.
Moreover, there are many things that the offspring of the demon god cannot do and must be accomplished by the demons who have not been transformed.
However, the battle was getting increasingly bizarre. As Daniel climbed off Noam's body, for some reason, he saw in his mind the image of Captain Harlan leading him to charge at the human nuns.
Captain Harlan back then was just as confident as the current commander is.
Daniel quickly shook his head. It must have all been a hallucination. There was no terrifying nun group at all.
Relieved, Daniel went to the rear. Although it was called the rear, it was actually just behind Noam's mountain-like body. It was a special camp with almost nothing in it, except for many specially made shackles and demon children crawling on the ground.
Their mouths were constantly drooling as they ate, gnawing at the mud monsters around them. The chunks of flesh on their bodies throbbed and seemed to be expanding as they ate.
Because they were restrained by special shackles, these demon offspring could only hunch their hooves, lie down, or kneel on the ground. Their several large mouths roared incessantly, as if demanding more and more food. It seemed that only by constantly eating could they satisfy their ever-expanding bodies.
In the camp, there were also demon soldiers like Daniel who were not qualified to become children of the demon god. They were taking the flesh and blood of the demon god from the supplies that had been delivered and throwing them to these children of the demon god.
The demon offspring caught the chunks of meat with the mouths on their backs and began to chew them.
Most of the soldiers who did not become children of the demon god were terrified of these children. They would only dare to throw food at them from a distance. In the words of the demons, these soldiers lacked courage and could not become children of the demon god.
Daniel shook his head helplessly as he looked at the situation in the camp. He used to be a frontline soldier, so how did he end up working with these insects?
But now that things have come to this, let's get to work first. Daniel shouted at the camp gate, "The restrictions are lifted! These soldiers are ready for battle! All hands on deck, remove the shackles!"
Afterwards, Daniel led the demon soldiers to a safe distance behind them and together they removed the shackles from the demon god's offspring.
Although he looked down on these cowardly soldiers, Daniel stood further back than them when he pulled out the iron stakes securing their shackles.
These demon offspring were kept in the rear camp and fed, accumulating more and more power. They were even becoming somewhat out of Noam's control. Sometimes they would even swallow the demon soldiers who came to feed them, along with pieces of their flesh. Not to mention when they were not in shackles, they might even attack other demon soldiers on their own.
The moment the shackles were removed, these volatile demon offspring panted heavily through their large mouths, seemingly still hungry, and continued to search for prey in the surrounding area.
Just as these demon offspring locked onto Daniel and his group of soldiers behind them, Noam in front roared from several large mouths. These demon offspring, who had been fed until now, all turned around and, under Noam's full control, rushed towards the battlefield.
Noam could only control these special demon offspring to this extent.
If Noam's size was a small mountain, then these demon offspring were like hillocks, rampaging across the battlefield with absolute destructive power.
Watching these roaring demon god offspring charge into the battlefield, Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. No matter how strong humans are, they can never be stronger than gods. These demon god offspring are all part of the demon god's flesh and blood. The previous tug-of-war with humans on the battlefield was just the demon race's mercy.
Once these true demon warriors are deployed to the battlefield, the humans will have no choice but to beg for mercy.
Thinking about this, Daniel even found it easier to breathe.
Few demons knew better than Daniel, who had been feeding these demon god offspring, just how powerful they were; they were arguably the demon race's last trump card.
These special offspring of demon gods are all carefully selected. They not only possess the powerful bodies of demon god offspring, but also can use the bloodline magic they had before being transformed.
If these special demon offspring were to scatter, Daniel felt that destroying a small country would be no problem at all.
In fact, given the resources the demons have invested so far, this war is already a true war of annihilation.
After seeing off this special group of demon god offspring, Daniel followed the demon soldiers behind him, put on armor, and took up his musket.
Although most of the demon soldiers were converted into demon offspring, as the commander standing on Noam's back said, there were still many odd jobs that ordinary demon soldiers needed to do, such as battlefield reconnaissance. Most of the soldiers who were not converted, including Daniel, were also reconnaissance-type bloodline magic users.
After all, even Noam couldn't clearly perceive all the situations on the battlefield.
Along the way, Daniel, as usual, followed behind the new recruits who were not qualified to become the offspring of the demon god, boasting about his past experiences.
The recruit, however, looked disdainful and said, "Come on, Daniel, aren't you afraid of running into that terrifying nun group you mentioned on the battlefield again?"
Daniel clenched his fists, his face flushed, and said, "It's all fake. A tactical retreat isn't a failure. It's all Captain Harlen's fault. I fought to the very end against humanity back then."
Then came incomprehensible terms like "feigning madness strategy" and "preserving strength," which drew laughter from the scouting team.
Just as everyone was laughing, a raging tongue of fire suddenly appeared on the battlefield ahead. The scouts beside Daniel immediately used bloodline magic in the direction where the fire appeared.
"Hey Daniel, is that terrifying nun group you're talking about the ones who wear red robes, carry chainsaw swords, and wear weird masks?"
Daniel, still explaining, said impatiently, "No, it wasn't a red robe. The robe was stained red after they killed our team. But how did you know that?"
Daniel, who always explained that it was all in his imagination, had never told these guys what that terrifying nun group was like.
The scout next to him swallowed hard and said, "You'll see for yourself."
Left with no other choice, Daniel also used his bloodline magic and looked in the direction the scout was pointing.
Amidst the raging flames of the battlefield ahead, a group of nuns slowly emerged from the flames.
The nuns' robes were all blood-red, as if they had been soaked in blood. They held flaming muskets in their left hands and chainsaws that emitted a blazing light in their right hands. Although their masks were different from before, they still exuded a unique sense of oppression.
Countless painful memories flooded his mind, and Daniel was so terrified that he fell off his horse. His scout companions immediately dismounted and helped him up. Daniel stared into the distance, saying in a daze, "Great! It's the Terror Sisters, we're doomed!"
Daniel has gone mad again.
