The Path to Lordship Begins in the North

Isa's clear shout echoed across the battlefield, bringing many of the already broken Gray-White Collar soldiers back to their senses. Even the soldiers in a state of collapse miraculously regained their order.

Darcy raised his hand and fired a shot, severing the monster's arm that was holding Hammond. Hammond reacted immediately, tearing off the armor on his arm and managing to escape.

The resistance fighters immediately joined the battle, using their old-fashioned muskets to help the fleeing Gray-White Collar soldiers suppress a horde of demonic offspring that was steadily approaching.

Under Isa's leadership, the routed soldiers regrouped and launched a counterattack. With concentrated firepower, they actually managed to repel a group of monsters.

Some of the original spellcasters from the Dogg army even began to cooperate with the firepower suppression, concentrating their magic to eliminate a demon god's offspring.

Laurie felt somewhat ashamed at the sight of this situation, after all, the Grey Collar army, which had begun to rout, was ultimately pulled back by the poorly equipped resistance army.

The cannons continued to roar, and the battlefield remained chaotic. The situation did not improve with the arrival of Isa and the resistance. Even though many Doug soldiers had joined the resistance and come to the battlefield, the resistance was still limited in number, and it was already the limit for them to help suppress one area.

Meanwhile, the demons still had a steady stream of walking corpses transformed from black blood and sludge, as well as many demon god offspring, making the entire battlefield still quite hopeless.

At Layton's strong suggestion, Isa retreated slightly, since every time Isa had escaped in a dangerous situation, it was the other resistance fighters who risked their lives to cover her.

Although they managed to salvage morale, the endless, surging waves of demonic offspring and mud monsters made it extremely difficult to maintain the battle line, even with artillery support. These monsters seemed tireless, relentlessly advancing. At this rate, another collapse was only a matter of time.

Exhausted, Isa barely made it back to the camp, while White had already led his men out to attack again.

"Your Excellency, thank you for your hard work."

Laurie and her staff saluted Isha with great respect, but Isha shook her head and said, "This can't go on."

“That’s right. Even though our artillery severely damaged those monsters, they were able to recover by simply eating the corpses and those mud creatures.”

Laurie had visibly aged and looked haggard. It was nearing dusk, and the battle would be even more difficult once night fell.

But the staff officers weren't completely idle. Laurie summarized, "Although these monsters keep advancing, the big guy with several mouths that keeps babbling in the rear of the battlefield hasn't made a move. So the staff suspects that the giant guy is controlling these monsters."

"Even if it's not manipulation, it should be similar to the concept of the mother circle in a letter magic circle. So we've been discussing whether there's any way to directly attack that giant monster, but unfortunately, the distance is too far, and the range of the cannons is still insufficient."

Although White hadn't figured out what was going on, he quickly realized what was happening, raised his Melting Slicer Sword and plunged it into the monster's black flesh, slicing it open completely.

The knight who was swallowed was corroded so much in a short time that his original appearance was no longer recognizable.

Unfortunately, the young knight named Bowen was beyond saving. In his grief, new troops soon arrived to support White. White braced his Melt-Slice Sword on the ground, catching his breath for a moment in front of Bowen's corpse, while constantly thinking about the strange things that had just happened.

How did the monster suddenly lose its ability to move?

Soon, the next wave came, and White, who hadn't rested for long, got up again. As he stepped over Bowen's body, White accidentally kicked a broken bottle.

White froze for a moment as if he had been electrocuted. Wasn't that bottle the one containing holy water?

In the earliest days, holy water was practically standard equipment for the Gray and White Collar Army, but as the army continued to expand, the original holy water was gradually replaced by advanced potions.

This doesn't mean that the gray-collar workers have stopped producing holy water. As a panacea for combating the demon plague, the production of holy water has never stopped. Although it's disguised as the governor's ancestral medicine, if every unit were to distribute holy water as before, this secret would eventually be exposed.

Therefore, only the legion commanders and their trusted associates still carry holy water for emergencies; the rest have switched to high-level alchemical potions.

Holy water was primarily used by the nuns who were active in the rear clearing the plague.

A daring idea popped into White's mind. He pulled out his allotted holy water from his tactical backpack and viciously threw it at the nearest demon's offspring.

Just as it was about to hit, the demon god's offspring's whip-like tentacles caught the bottle and fed the holy water to the nearest mouth.

But soon, this demon god's offspring let out a painful howl, knelt on the ground, and was steaming, just like the previous demon god's offspring.

The surrounding soldiers were unaware of what had happened. Upon seeing the monster kneel down, knights immediately rushed forward with their melting swords, cleaved the monster in two, and killed it.

"Ha ha!"

"Hahahahahahahahahaha!"

Amid the chaos of the battlefield, White burst into maniacal laughter.
