The Path to Lordship Begins in the North

Damm wholeheartedly agreed with his father's argument and even felt it was a great pity that his sister was going to marry a nouveau riche governor.

With this in mind, Dam embarked on his journey to the gray-collar and white-collar world.

The reason was easy to find: the nobles of Copper Mountain Territory elected a representative to personally surrender to Gray and White Territory, and Lind had to give them face and meet with him.

Upon hearing that they had come to surrender, the Gray and White Collar army did not obstruct them along the way. Although the fighting was fierce, the exchanges between the people on both sides were not affected. Thanks to this, Dam basically passed through the checkpoints with ease, and left some people behind under the guise of trade, preparing to spread the newly composed songs of the Copper Mountain nobles.

Most people say that Lena is a jealous and vicious woman who acts recklessly because she is the young lady of Lars, is ill-mannered, and has even started making personal attacks. They also feel that Lena is no longer worthy of the governor.

If attacking Linde was acceptable because these nobles, who were rushing towards the front lines every day, had at least left themselves a way out, then attacking Reina and the other nobles was simply going too far.

Dian even had a flash of inspiration and claimed in the ballad that Lena harbored ulterior motives and wanted to control the Gray and White Collars through the Lars family, thus sidelining Lind, because from the perspective of these nobles, Lena could indeed do it.

The nobles didn't believe any lord could tolerate such a thing happening, and by the time the ballad was composed, they were already holding a victory celebration.

However, in order not to alert the enemy, Dam listened to his father and the nobles and did not rush to spread the word at first. Instead, he set a time to start spreading it when Dam was about to reach the Grey and White Collar.

Once Governors Dam and Lind mention their sister, these songs will likely reach the gray and white-collar workers as well.

Dam traveled along the way, stopping frequently. The closer he got to the gray-collar area, the more prosperous it became. In Black Iron City alone, Dam spent two days playing all night long. While cursing Lind for being such a nouveau riche, he was reluctant to leave Black Iron City.

When he saw the gray-collar workers and those obelisks that soared into the sky, unlike the traditional mage towers, Dam even felt an urge to worship them.

Iron City also has an obelisk of this style, but it is clearly not as impressive as the one in Gray Collar.

The gray and white-collar workers seemed like another world, which even made Dam feel inferior.

But the more Dam witnessed the prosperity of the gray and white-collar workers, the more excited he became. If his sister successfully married Lind, wouldn't all of this be his?

Damm had even planned that once his sister became successful, she would give him Iron City, and then he could do whatever he wanted with it.

Linde didn't really care that the nobles of Copper Mountain had personally chosen a representative to surrender.

In Linde's view, this was simply because the nobles of Copper Mountain Territory were dissatisfied with the current terms of surrender and wanted to find someone to talk to him in detail.

However, Linde was quite surprised when he met Damm, after all, he did not expect to be talking to a young upstart.

Dam was not very satisfied with the meeting, since it was held in Linde's study, a rather private and informal setting, and only Linde and some guards and maids were present, which made Dam very unhappy.

Damm, now that he had placed himself in the position of "brother-in-law" and was rather fond of pomp and circumstance, simply said to Lind, "Governor, don't you think it's rather shabby to receive the noble representatives of our Copper Mountain Territory here?"

In Dam's mind, there should at least be a welcoming ceremony at the foot of that huge obelisk, and it would be best to invite all the important officials from the gray and white collars.

Linde frowned; these old nobles really had too much to do.

But Copper Mountain Territory does indeed have some important mineral resources, so Linde patiently asked, "Where would you like to discuss this?"

Dam originally wanted to go to the bottom of the huge obelisk, but seeing Lind's displeasure, he immediately lowered his demands, saying, "Just go to the hall. I have something very important to report to the governor, so please bring as many people as possible."

Upon hearing that it was an important matter, Lin De glanced at his work, which was mostly finished, and said, "Alright, then please take a rest first, young man. We'll talk later."

Although Dam Ambrose asked Lind to call more people, most of the officials in the gray-white collar were too busy to pay attention to a noble representative of Copper Mountain, unless it was something really important.

So when Lind met with Damm again in the hall, only the relatively relaxed Yolanda and the non-spy-working Colin, who had been depressed ever since, came to lend some face. Tia, who loved watching the excitement, also curiously joined in.

Seeing that Linde was alone, Damm knew that the governor's wife from the Lars family was not present. Since she wasn't present now, she didn't need to be present in the future either, that's what Damm thought.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Linde asked, "So? Is there something important to say about Copper Mountain Territory? Is it about your mines? Or is there some important intelligence?"

Linde had asked Lucanus before coming, but Lucanus couldn't possibly be keeping an eye on all the nobles in the North. Copper Mountain Territory was just a noble territory that occupied mineral resources and had a long history; there was nothing special about it.

Lucanus had no way of knowing the future and was unaware that this place was about to become special.

"No, our family, or rather our Copper Mountain Territory, has a gift to give to you, sir."

Dam, who had already been searched, quickly stepped forward and slowly unfurled a magic scroll in front of Lind. Inside, there were no hidden daggers or anything like that, but rather a portrait.

“Your Excellency, this is a magical portrait of my sister Lise. What do you think of it?”

Linde, who had already guessed what the other party was thinking, sighed helplessly. So, he had called everyone over just for this little thing?

But out of politeness, Lind said, "Hmm, the drawing skills are quite good."

Tia, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but burst out laughing.

This was already a rejection; Linde had no intention of marrying another woman.

But Damm seemed not to understand the meaning behind Lind's words and continued to ask, "Your Excellency, what do you think of my sister?"

Linde was getting impatient. Was this kid just here to cause trouble? Did he really have to refuse him outright?

"So elegant and poised, your sister must be very popular in the area, right?"

To be honest, after spending every day with a beauty like Lena, who even snuggles up to him in her sleep, Linde had long lost all worldly desires for other women.

Unaware that the temperature was dropping rapidly, Dam continued to whisper to Lind, "And isn't the Governor worried that the Lady might rebel? The Governor's wife has quite a bit of power now."
