The handsome guy next door loves to flirt.

Chapter 61 Working as a Salesperson

"Don't talk nonsense, Mingkun and I aren't married yet!" Yun Shu said awkwardly, blushing as she thought about what the two of them had done before, but she tried to remain calm.

“There are tons of unmarried couples living together on the street these days, so don’t be so dramatic, sis. Kun seems like a nice guy. It’s just strange that he doesn’t seem to be broke. He owns a company, so why is he living here with everyone?” Most of the people living here are young people who work here, or families who can’t afford a down payment, but that’s not a lot.

“He has a house, and many of his company’s employees live here, so it’s more lively since he lives here too.” Yun Shu didn’t want to mention that Xiao Mingkun had given the house to his sister, afraid that Xu Ya would overthink it and think that Mingkun didn’t want her to live there.

"Oh, that's good, otherwise I would have to struggle for another twenty years! Today I heard people in the ward say that the pressure of living in the city is very high. Many people who have migrated to Beijing live in basements and never see sunlight. Some spend three or four hours a day commuting on the subway." Xu Ya clicked her tongue, having gained a deep understanding of the life and pressure of big cities from her job search a few days ago.

"Yes, more and more people are coming to the city, especially college graduates who haven't found jobs yet. I guess I'm just lucky. By the way, I heard from a colleague that a big shopping mall not far from the hospital is hiring a few sales assistants. They don't have high educational requirements. Do you want to give it a try?"

"Become a sales assistant? I looked into it before, but now I realize I was being unrealistic and didn't understand my own situation. Okay! Sis, I'll go there in a couple of days after Jinyuan finds a caregiver for his grandma. Isn't your place not too far from here?"

"Yeah! It's even closer than the hospital, only two or three stops away, about a twenty-minute walk," Yun Shu said after thinking about the location.

"Sister, can I still live here?" Xu Ya asked somewhat embarrassedly. She had just started working and her salary was probably not high. Her new job was close to here and very convenient. She was reluctant to leave and did not want to move out.

"You can stay as long as you want, no one's going to kick you out!" Yun Shu saw through her thoughts and said with a smile, though she was a little annoyed.

I used to worry that she was lazy and unwilling to work hard, but after spending these few days with her, I think she misunderstood Xu Ya. It's good that she's staying here to keep her company.

"Sis, you should move in with your husband soon, then I can have this house all to myself," Xu Ya joked, thinking of Kun Ge.

"You wish! Your sister won't live with him before she gets married." Yun Shu immediately rejected the idea; she didn't want to follow in her mother's footsteps.

"Just kidding, sis. But sis, girls like you are rare these days." Capable yet traditional girls are indeed scarce.

"Don't say that. There are still many good girls. You can't mess around before marriage. In our obstetrics and gynecology department, we see almost one case every day of an unmarried woman giving birth, or a young girl who's over 18 but has had multiple abortions!" Yun Shu said painfully. Some girls don't even know they're pregnant, or they don't know anything about contraception. Some are deceived at such a young age, or their boyfriends are also young and naive, so they indulge in premarital sex. Good men will take responsibility, but scumbags just leave, leaving the girls alone to have abortions…

Seeing Yun Shu's pained expression, Xu Ya assumed it was because she was thinking of her aunt, who had given birth to her out of wedlock. So she immediately replied, "Sister, I understand! I'll know my limits. Go to sleep, go to sleep. I'd better wash up and go to bed too. You seem to have to work the early shift tomorrow."

Tomorrow is Saturday, but Yun Shu has to go to work because she's switching shifts with someone else. After becoming a full-time employee, Yun Shu's benefits improved in all aspects, and she gets two days off every week, except for special circumstances or emergencies that require overtime. However, frontline doctors basically don't get many days off a month.

It's much better than before, though; I don't have to be so worried anymore. Besides, Yun Shu gets along well with her colleagues, and Xu Ya's new job was introduced to her by someone in the same department at the hospital.

It was late at night, and Yun Shu wanted to go to sleep as soon as possible. Another day had passed like this, and time seemed to fly by.

The next day, after get off work, Yun Shu accompanied Ming Kun to buy some things so he could take them home to his parents. Yun Shu had heard Ming Kun mention to her before that he had already told his parents about their relationship.

Yun Shu felt it wasn't the right time to meet Ming Kun's parents yet, and she also felt bad for not accompanying Ming Kun back home, so she called him and asked him to pick her up after get off work so they could go to the mall together to pick out some things to take to his parents.

Xiao Mingkun understood Yun Shu's thoughts and was touched by her thoughtfulness. However, he wouldn't let Yun Shu pay for the things they bought. How could he let his wife pay for his purchases? He would lose face.

After the two left the mall, Yun Shu was still complaining about Xiao Mingkun paying for her meal.

"Don't worry about it. Your brows are so furrowed; it doesn't look good at all. You picked out all the items, so it's like you bought them. When I get back, I'll tell my parents that their future daughter-in-law carefully selected these for them, and they'll definitely be very happy," Xiao Mingkun patiently comforted her. She knew that Yun Shu didn't have much money left after investing in Xu Ruo's restaurant, so she wouldn't let Yun Shu pay for it.

"They were just trying to put on a good show, but you ruined it. How boring!" Yun Shu snorted.

"If you want to prove yourself, marry me as soon as possible. My parents will be happier than anything else."

Yun Shu glared at the arrogant man. He was carrying a lot of things, but he wouldn't let Yun Shu take a single thing. He did this every time they went out, just to make her feel a little better.

After putting their things in the car, the two went to eat. However, Yun Shu didn't want to go to an expensive restaurant. Instead, she took Ming Kun to a nearby Shaxian snack shop. She didn't want Ming Kun to spend too much money today, or she would feel guilty.

Although the shop was small, it was quite clean and the food was pretty good. Seeing that Xiao Mingkun didn't mind at all and ate a lot, Yun Shu's mood improved.

After they finished eating, Xiao Mingkun took her to see a movie. It was very hot outside, so they decided to sit inside. However, they hadn't been inside long when Yun Shu pulled Xiao Mingkun out. It was a horror movie, and Yun Shu didn't like those kinds of things, so they went home, not wanting to shop any further.

A day after Xiao Mingkun returned home, he called Yun Shu to ask if she wanted anything to eat, as he wanted to bring some local specialties over. Yun Shu said no, she didn't have an appetite. Yun Shu's appetite was always poor in the summer, and she must have lost weight recently. If she got any thinner, Xiao Mingkun would start to dislike her; she'd be all skin and bones when he picked her up.

Xu Ya, on the other hand, gained weight; she actually gained two pounds in just one week. Even Yun Shu found it unbelievable. She had been working herself to the bone looking for a job just a few days ago, yet she still managed to gain weight. Yun Shu was quite envious.
