The handsome guy next door loves to flirt.

Chapter 110 I Can't Marry Her

Mingkun vaguely sensed something was wrong with her voice, realizing he had made the girl cry, which made him even more embarrassed to say anything harsh. However, he managed to explain the situation clearly.

"I'm sorry! That's all I can say. You're a good girl, and there will definitely be a man who is better and more suitable than me who wants to marry you. But I already have someone I like, and I can't give her up. We both... I'll try to persuade my parents to cancel this engagement." Mingkun almost blurted out that they had already gotten their marriage certificate, and could only apologize to Manyun once again.

Manyun nodded with difficulty. What else could she say? Mingkun already had someone he liked and could not accept her. She could only blame themselves for meeting too late and regretting that they were not destined to be together.

The two then went inside, and Manyun went upstairs to rest first. Mingkun, seeing that his mother had calmed down, said, "Mom, I've explained things to Manyun, and she's accepted it. My engagement to her is off, and I can't marry her!"

"How dare you!" Liu Yufen immediately stood up, pointing at Mingkun and angrily cursing, "Are you trying to force your mother to her death?! I absolutely do not agree to you canceling the engagement. You should prepare to get married at the end of the year. I have already notified everyone in the village. In a while, I will ask Uncle to help me write Manyun's name into the family genealogy. Let's see who dares to reject my daughter-in-law."

"Mom, can't you be reasonable? Who arranges marriages like this these days? Who's getting married, me or you? I'm making this clear today: I will marry no one but Yunshu in this life. And if you force me to marry Chen Manyun, I'll get a tubal ligation so you can never have a grandchild! Let's see who's tougher!"

"You...you..." Liu Yufen trembled with anger, pointing her finger at Mingkun, but her body kept shaking. In the end, she couldn't take the shock and fainted.

"Mom...Mom..." Mingkun immediately ran over to support her and called out, but Liu Yufen still did not wake up.

"You unfilial son, hurry up and take her to the hospital!" Xiao Shaomin roared. Mingkun immediately reacted, picked up Liu Yufen and carried her to his car. Yunman, who was upstairs, hadn't actually come up completely. She was originally hiding there to listen to how the family was handling the engagement, but when she heard that Liu Yufen had fainted, she rushed down to go to the hospital with them.

Liu Yufen remained unconscious the entire way, but fortunately, it was only a ten-minute drive from the town hospital, and she was immediately taken to the emergency room for treatment after being taken there.

The three of them waited anxiously outside. Mingkun was now regretting his impulsiveness and arguing with his mother. He knew she was unwell, and that making her angry and causing her to faint was a huge mistake. He hoped his mother would be alright; otherwise, he would be incredibly unfilial.

After waiting for half an hour, an X-ray was taken, and the result showed a minor brain hemorrhage. He would have to stay in the hospital for about 10 days before he could go home.

Fortunately, nothing else went wrong, but it was enough to terrify the whole family.

That evening, Xiao Shaomin asked Mingkun to call Minmin and ask her to come home as well. Mingkun also took a week off to stay home and take care of Liu Yufen.

Liu Yufen stayed in the ward and woke up not long after, but she fell asleep again shortly afterward. This time, her unconsciousness frightened everyone. After she fell asleep, Mingkun took Manyun home first, and then he and his father stayed to take care of his mother.

When he got back, he saw that his father was asleep, so he went downstairs to the courtyard and sat by the flower bed, holding his phone and hesitating whether to call Yunshu.

He was wondering how to talk to him about his family after making the phone call. He knew his mother was always strong-willed, and he really didn't know how to handle the situation this time. But he was certain that he wouldn't break up with Yun Shu. Maybe Chen Manyun was a good girl, but there were many girls like that out there, and people became numb to them. But Yun Shu was different. She was the lover he had chosen, the life partner he wanted to live with and spend his whole life with. No one could replace her in his heart!

With that thought in mind, he quickly dialed the familiar number without hesitation and made the call.

Yun Shu was reading when she heard her phone ring. Seeing that it was Ming Kun's number, she quickly answered and said, "Ming Kun, what's up?"

"It's nothing. I went back to my hometown to persuade my parents to break off the engagement. I might have to stay at home for a week." He didn't dare say that he had angered his mother so much that she was now hospitalized.

"It's been so long, is your family... alright?" Yun Shu was worried on the other end. As soon as she heard that he would be at home for a week, she knew that things must be very complicated. His parents... wouldn't be so easy to persuade. After all, fate is a very strange thing, and no family would dare to take the risk.

"No, don't worry, I'll handle it." Mingkun said, pretending to be relaxed, not wanting Yun Shu to worry.

“Mingkun, don’t argue with your parents. Auntie isn’t feeling well. We… let’s take it slow. As long as you have me in your heart and still love me, I don’t mind waiting until the day you and your parents can accept me.” Yun Shu said, holding back her tears. She knew that Mingkun was the one who had the hardest time in this matter, as both sides were people he loved, and he didn’t want to hurt either of them.

"Yun Shu, I'm sorry! I made you worry." Ming Kun sighed heavily, feeling somewhat guilty. After all, the two of them had already registered their marriage, but because of his parents, they couldn't make it public. Now, his parents were causing him trouble by bringing up the engagement issue.

"Mingkun... I'm fine... It's mainly because you've worked so hard."

Yun Shu had never encountered Ming Kun so depressed and helpless before. She wanted to stay by his side and comfort him.

The two remained silent for a long time, separated by their phones. The night was deep, and countless lights twinkled in the sky. Yun Shu stood on the balcony, a cold wind brushing her face, and tears streamed down her cheeks. Thankfully, Xu Ya was inside playing on her computer; otherwise, she would have worried if Xu Ya had seen her.

It's unbelievable that her marriage will still be troubled in this lifetime. Why is it so difficult for her to have a home of her own?

Thinking about having her own home, Yun Shu thought of the apartment she and Ming Kun had near the hospital when they got married. That apartment was still there, unfinished. Recently, she had some free time and nothing to do, so she thought she'd take this opportunity to renovate it.

So he said to Mingkun on the other end, "Mingkun, are you still listening?"

"Yes, I'm here," came the soft reply.

"Mingkun, I've got some free time lately. You're not here, and I don't want to go anywhere else, so how about we renovate our house?"
