Hua Qingmeng stared at Ye Xinghe silently, her eyes filled with inquiry.

Throughout the entire process, Ye Xinghe showed no sign of panic, simply sitting quietly. Her tone of voice was also calm and unchanging, revealing no emotion whatsoever. She possessed a composure beyond her years.

Hua Qingmeng didn't even need to ask Ajarn to answer the question, but he was able to say, "Once you remove the ornaments, they're no different from ordinary jewelry, and you can wear them."

Ye Xinghe gave him a meaningful look and said, "Thank you."

The two smiled at each other.

The four of them chatted until 10 p.m.

The ritual is scheduled for midnight, as this is when it is most effective.

Ye Xinghe went to the balcony and called home, saying she was having a gathering with classmates and might be home very late. Her mother told her to be careful and to keep her phone accessible.

Hua Qingmeng told her to go back first, as something inexplicable might happen that night, perhaps even more terrifying than the dream she had in the middle of the night. He would stay here and keep watch, and tell her when it was over.

Ye Xinghe smiled faintly and refused, saying, "It's alright, I'm quite bold. Besides, Master Long is here."

But what Ye Xinghe really thought was, how terrible would it be?

Is it worse than being locked in a basement and abused for two months? Or worse than her brother being turned into a human pig? Or worse than her father jumping from a high-rise building and being smashed into a pile of minced meat?

Looking back now, those demons, monsters, and evil spirits were nothing but "empty shells." They were far less terrifying than the human heart!

She wanted to witness firsthand just how vicious the gift Chu Mofan had given her truly was.

Ye Xinghe changed the subject, "You're not bar staff, are you? And you're not gangsters either."

"So what do you think we do?"

Ye Xinghe glanced at Hua Qingmeng, then looked at the river, and shook her head.

"You'll find out what I do soon enough," Hua Qingmeng said slowly, his eyes fixed on her.

Ye Xinghe covered her ears, "Don't tell me! I didn't hear anything. The more you know, the faster you'll die."

At this moment, Lin Hao also came to the balcony. "What are you talking about?"

"We were talking about how to become a good member of the underworld. I've graduated now and I don't have a job, so I'm thinking of hanging out with you guys from now on." Ye Xinghe started talking nonsense with a straight face.

Lin Hao looked stunned. "No way, little sister! You can't do this. You'll get arrested in the anti-gang campaign!"

Hua Qingmeng teased, "Shouldn't you be more worried?"

"Ah! Yes! I was worried! Hey, the view from your house is really nice. How much did you pay for this house?"

The three chatted and laughed on the balcony, and soon it was 11:30.

Ajarn Narong began preparing the things he would need later.

A large iron plate, a small glass bottle, some offerings, incense and candles, a bundle of candles and several Buddha amulets.

Since firewood was impossible to buy in the city, Ajarn said candles would work too.

Ye Xinghe looked at the Buddhist amulets with a puzzled expression and asked in a low voice, "What are these for?"

Hua Qingmeng explained, "There should be evil spirits in that necklace. The Ajarn wants to guide them into his amulets, bless them with authentic mantras, and then let people take them away later."

At midnight, Ajarn Narong sat cross-legged in front of a large tray and lit twenty candles on it.

All the lights in the room were turned off, and the three of them sat in the corner of the living room watching.

Ajarn Narong took out the necklace and placed it in his right palm, softly chanting mantras. At that moment, two different colored wisps of smoke slowly emanated from the necklace, intertwining and enveloping the pendant.

As Ajarn Narong's chanting grew louder, the pendant slowly floated up, as if the two wisps of smoke had carried it into the air.

With a snap, the pendant suddenly cracked open, and a dark brown object fell out. Ajarn Narong caught it and then held the dark brown object in the fire to heat it.

The flames burned Ajarn Narong's hands, but he felt no heat, as if he had lost all sensation. The chanting grew more rapid and shrill, no longer resembling the sounds a human could make.

Finally, the dark brown object in his hand completely turned into liquid. Ajarn poured it into a glass bottle, sealed it, and chanted a mantra before it was over.

The three of them got up and went over to Ajarn, bowing with their hands clasped in prayer.

Ye Xinghe noticed that Ajarn Narong looked much more tired and haggard than before. She whispered to Hua Qingmeng, "Could you help me prepare a large red envelope for my master? I'll return it to you later."

Hua Qingmeng ignored her, exchanged a few words with Ajarn, and then said:

“Ajarn said that this necklace is indeed the Yan Tong evil spirit amulet, containing corpse oil and two spirits, a man and a woman. The outer shell is just for show, but there are talismans on it, which are related to another person's fox amulet.”

"If you wear this necklace for a long time, it will not only make the wearer obedient and subservient to the person wearing the fox pendant, but the sins committed by that person will also come back to haunt the wearer of this necklace."

Ye Xinghe nodded gently, her expression remaining as calm as before.

Hua Qingmeng then said, "Ajarn asked me to ask you if you want to retaliate? He has a way to make those who wear fox amulets suffer a backlash."

"Please thank Master for me. I don't want to associate with such people and do such heinous things using such despicable means," Ye Xinghe said softly.

At this moment, her heart was already in turmoil.

We can't let him die so easily! Revenge should be taken personally for the best results!

I'm going to torture you slowly, Chu Mofan!

Hua Qingmeng handed the broken pendant to Ye Xinghe, looking somewhat forlorn. "Master said the contents have been removed, and the talisman on the pendant has been removed as well. If you want to wear it... you can continue to wear it."

Ye Xinghe took it and thought to herself: Fortunately, it was split in two, so I can glue it back together and it shouldn't be noticeable.

They tidied up the room quickly and threw away the trash. It was already 2 a.m. when the four of them left Jianglan Garden.

First, take Ye Xinghe home, and then take Azan back to his hotel.

Jianglan Garden wasn't far from Ye Xinghe's home. There weren't many cars on the road at midnight, and it took less than ten minutes to get there.

After getting out of the car, Ye Xinghe once again expressed his gratitude to Ajarn Narong.

"Xinghe, this is for you." Hua Qingmeng got out of the car and chased after him to the door, taking out a golden amulet from her pocket. "Don't worry. It's from our Dragon Kingdom. Keep it with you; it can protect you."

"Thank you, I'll keep it with me." Ye Xinghe smiled and turned to go home.

Hua Qingmeng returned to the car, told Ajarn Narong the flight time for tomorrow, and then said to Lin Hao:

"Go ask around Jianglan Garden tomorrow if there are any unsold apartments left. Or if anyone wants to sell theirs, preferably as close as possible to Ye Xinghe's apartment. Don't worry about the price."

"You think that house is nice too, right? The river view is absolutely stunning!" Lin Hao glanced at the rearview mirror and noticed Hua Qingmeng's gloomy face, so he quickly shut up.

Hua Qingmeng is a regular guest at Jiangyue Hotel, and she also booked a room for Ajarn Narong here.

Just after helping Ajarn check in, Lin Hao came over and whispered a few words to him.

Hua Qingmeng's expression changed, and her eyes instantly turned cold.

"Go to the airport!"
