Chapter 74 Hachiman Hikigaya's Adventure

While Arthur was already fighting Mordred, Hachiman Hikigaya was still deciding which foot to use to walk out of the alley.

Compared to Makoto Aoki, who spawned in the wilderness, Hachiman Hikigaya started in a town, which was quite lucky. He landed in a deserted alley and no one noticed him.

"Struggle with all your might, you bastard." The golden heroic spirit beside him seemed to illuminate this dark corner, but there was no doubt that bringing Hachiman Hikigaya here unharmed was already his greatest mercy. "Otherwise, you'll just become a withered skeleton by the roadside."

Leaving behind these words, Gilgamesh transformed into golden particles and departed in spirit form.

Hachiman Hikigaya was left hesitating in the alley. He had just tried to contact the others with his communicator, but there was no response, perhaps because of the distance.

By the bright moonlight, Hachiman Hikigaya could make out a glimpse of the outside world. It was a classic European-style street, and the stone slabs on the outside of the buildings already showed signs of wear and tear from wind and rain. The moon was high in the sky, and there wasn't a soul on the street; it was eerily quiet.

Hachiman Hikigaya couldn't take a step.

It's not fair to blame Hachiman Hikigaya for not daring to go out. Even though the timeline of this world has reached around 05, this European town, influenced by the nearby Yggdrasil family, still maintains a very simple rural lifestyle despite having some modern technological products.

Anyone who has been to less prosperous towns knows that these places have no nightlife, and most of the people who wander around at night are not respectable people.

Hachiman Hikigaya searched his body for anything useful, but found that he dared not even take out his coins.

He had no heroic spirits to protect him, and it was late at night in an unfamiliar place. He didn't even know which hotel was. What if he lost money and got ambushed? He had quite a few gold bars on him, and his heart trembled when he held them before.

Hachiman Hikigaya never hesitates to anticipate the worst-case scenario.

"Phew, thank goodness Aoki-kun and Tai... that strategist thought of everything."

Hachiman Hikigaya quickly changed his mind, while also reminding himself not to reveal his purpose before he had his own Servant. In other words, he had to be careful with his words. He had to restrain himself from saying things like the Holy Grail War, Servants, and classes, which ordinary people shouldn't know. After all, who knows if the person you pass by is your Master?

Hachiman Hikigaya was well aware of his own weakness, and therefore understood the importance of caution.

He took off the large backpack he was carrying on his back. Makoto Aoki had also considered moving to the wilderness or forest, and the backpacks he prepared for everyone also contained wilderness survival equipment. Hachiman Hikigaya planned to take out his sleeping bag and make do with the night in this alley.

He'd been there for quite a while, and no one had come in, so there shouldn't be any major danger.

Be cautious, Hachiman, most importantly, be cautious.

Hachiman Hikigaya carefully placed the pistol in his pocket, keeping important items with him at all times, and covering everything else with camouflage cloth. He also tied the bag to his wrist with a rope before crawling into his sleeping bag.

Can't sleep at all.

Hachiman Hikigaya stared with his eyes open at the bright full moon in the night.

Wow, that's really bright. I wonder what the others are doing now.

Having a Servant by his side should make things a little better for him.

Hachiman Hikigaya was unaware that the war had begun the moment they arrived. He assumed that with the protection of the Heroic Spirits, they would easily find a place to stay and wouldn't end up sleeping on a street corner like a homeless person.

Makoto Aoki and Eriri, who had basically stayed up all night, were not convinced.

The moon in that other world isn't much different from the one in their world.

Hachiman Hikigaya continued to drift into thought, pondering many things: his failed life so far, his unrequited first love, and how he wanted a fresh start but was hit by a car on the first day of school while trying to save a dog.

So why did he accept Taigong Wang's invitation?

Hachiman Hikigaya ponders.

Then, he gave a wry smile.

Hachiman, Hachiman, you're still not reconciled. Saying you enjoy solitude is nothing but the biggest lie. Your mockery of the world stems from your failure to become strong; in truth, after that life-or-death crisis, you were still unwilling to accept it.

If there had been no opportunity at all, that would have been fine, but when Taigong Wang invited him, he was still tempted.

This might be the only chance for Hachiman Hikigaya to escape the cesspool in his life. Even though his biggest dream is to be a stay-at-home dad, as a man, has he never fantasized about being able to command the world and give orders?

Moreover, there's Komachi; as the older brother, he has responsibilities.

"Let's start tomorrow," Hachiman told himself, trying to correct his riddle-like personality and try to be more frank.

Gradually, Hachiman Hikigaya felt a bit sleepy, he said to himself in this lonely night.

Goodnight, Hachiman Hikigaya.

When the first rays of dawn fell on Hachiman Hikigaya's face, he opened his eyes.

My sleep quality last night was definitely not good, and my head is still throbbing. Hachiman Hikigaya suppressed his urge to go back into his sleeping bag and take a nap, and slowly crawled out of it.

I made up my mind yesterday, but I almost gave in to the warmth of my sleeping bag the very next day.

But at least the previous training camp had some effect. Hachiman Hikigaya packed his things with a speed he would never normally have, and carrying his big backpack, he walked out of the alley for the first time.

At this moment, some early-rising women had already emerged from the houses along the street. They whispered among themselves and looked at Hachiman Hikigaya with astonished eyes, as if they were looking at some magical creature. In towns like this, it was rare to see people with East Asian faces.

Hachiman Hikigaya felt extremely uncomfortable. As the invisible person in his class, he wished he could shrink back into an empty alley and hope that no one could see him.

However, he remained rational and carefully discerned the women's language, discovering that although their accents were heavy, they were likely intensively trained in Romanian.

Romania? The Red and Black Holy Grail War? Hachiman Hikigaya remembered Taikomochi's introduction and suddenly felt uneasy.

Where is he now? Romania is very large.

Hachiman Hikigaya wanted to approach them and learn more about their situation, but his crammed Romanian was barely passable, and he also had a noticeable accent. In the end, Hachiman Hikigaya fled amidst the women's laughter.

He walked quickly with his head down, eager to leave this place immediately.

The result of not watching where he was going was that he bumped into someone. However, the other person's slender figure was surprisingly sturdy, while Hachiman Hikigaya, a big man, was knocked to the ground. Because of the weight of his backpack, he didn't get up immediately.

If there were even a crack, Hachiman Hikigaya would definitely crawl into it.

"Are you alright? You—"

A fair hand reached out to him, its fingertips pink, like blooming cherry blossom petals.

A sentence that places the subject at the end would seem strange to an ordinary person, but when applied to the person in front of us, it feels incredibly adorable.

As Hachiman Hikigaya saw that person, a thought suddenly popped into his head.

Could this be an angel?
