Chapter 56 The Disaster at Soubu High School

The attackers at Soubu High School were an old friend we'd all seen on TV before: ghosts.

They first appeared on the playground below, so almost the entire school witnessed their horrific state as they entered the teaching building.

In Hachiman Hikigaya's view, this was undoubtedly the worst option.

Unlike physical skeletons and wyverns, ghosts can pass through walls. This means that while you can hide in the school building to survive against the former, there's no need to hide against the latter.

Even though the ghosts weren't moving very fast, Soubu High School still suffered heavy casualties.

"Ahhhhh!!"

Screams.

"No, don't kill me, please..."

A helpless pleas for mercy.

"Aaaaaah, I don't want to die! Why did we have to be the ones to encounter this?!"

A breakdown of curses.

The screams of countless people and the explosions that seemed to come from nowhere had turned Soubu High School into a living hell.

But what's even more terrifying is that Hachiman Hikigaya and his classmates have no idea where the ghost has gone, which makes them even more panicked.

"Don't panic, everyone!" When the ghost was first discovered, Hiratsuka Shizuka gritted her teeth and stepped forward to hold the fort. As a teacher, she still had a certain prestige, which prevented Class 2-F from collapsing immediately and running away in a panic.

"Don't run around! Listen to me, everyone!" Hiratsuka Shizuka herself was trembling because it was too chaotic outside! The ghosts might not have killed that many people yet, but all the students in the school building were panicked. They ran away frantically. Individuals were very vulnerable, and many died from being trampled. Some students even had mental breakdowns and jumped off the school building. The first and second floors were fine, but those above the third floor who were half-crippled were really just waiting to die.

As a teacher, Hiratsuka Shizuka knew that in the current situation, it was almost impossible to prevent the students from escaping. Moreover, a class of students would be too conspicuous, and they might be targeted by the ghost, or even cornered by it, leaving them no way to escape. But she wanted to ensure everyone's safety to the greatest extent possible.

"Everyone, form groups of three or four, look out for each other, find places to hide, try to find secluded places, don't huddle together..." Hiratsuka Shizuka shouted hoarsely, her sense of responsibility towards her students overcoming her fear. Finally, she blessed everyone, "In the end, you must survive, everyone."

The people around him had already formed small groups and were about to leave the classroom, but Hachiman Hikigaya was still all alone. He had only come to this class because of the car accident and didn't know anyone there.

Let me tell you a harsh truth: Hachiman Hikigaya has no friends! He is a proud loner!

"Why don't you come with me first!" Hiratsuka Shizuka saw that Hikigaya Hachiman was all alone and put her arm around him. "After all, no one will be with you."

Right in the center! Hachiman Hikigaya coughed up a mouthful of blood.

But he could also feel Hiratsuka Shizuka's care for him, and even the most awkward person wouldn't avoid it in this situation: "Thank you." Hachiman Hikigaya uttered these words that he hadn't said in a long time.

Unfortunately, the change happened in an instant.

As the first group of students eagerly opened the door, ready to rush out of the classroom, they came running back in a flash, howling like ghosts. Under everyone's watchful eyes, two or three ghosts easily passed through the wall and arrived at Class 2-F, with Hachiman sitting by the wall being their primary target.

"Get away!"

Before Hachiman Hikigaya could react, Shizuka Hiratsuka grabbed his collar and yanked him back sharply, barely dodging the ghost's waving claws.

Hachiman Hikigaya broke out in a cold sweat as he felt the icy demon hand brush against his face.

"Damn it! Don't you dare hurt my students!" Enraged, Hiratsuka Shizuka lifted a table and hurled it at the ghost. Unfortunately, while the skeleton soldiers could at least pause the ghost, physical damage was ineffective against it.

The ghost seemed to be enraged as well, letting out an invisible shriek that made everyone who heard it momentarily dazed. Then, its chilling ghostly claws reached out to grab Hiratsuka Shizuka, while the other two ghosts went after the other students.

"Teacher!" Hachiman Hikigaya bit his tongue, tasting the blood in his mouth. The excruciating pain jolted him out of his daze, and he saw this scene. He rushed forward to block the ghost's claw, even if it meant using his own body!

At the critical moment, an invisible red light suddenly shot up from the ground, forming a dazzling light and shadow. The entire teaching building was enveloped in this red light, and everyone's eyes were filled with a faint red.

"Thought key pattern, inspiration."

Outside the teaching building, the black-haired Taoist priest formed a hand seal. His forehead was slightly sweaty, clearly indicating that he was under considerable pressure, but it had to be said that this was the best solution.

The walls of the school building are no longer a barrier for the students; instead, they hinder the Servants' rescue efforts. Even with spirits, saving them is far more difficult than killing them.

So, there was actually already a Servant fighting, but due to the lack of communication, the other students at Soubu High School had no idea.

Therefore, Aoki Makoto, disguised as Taigong Wang, directly activated the magic circle, temporarily binding the ghosts in the entire school building. As an expert in dealing with ghosts, this was not difficult, and he could even shrink or expand the effect of the magic circle at any time.

After doing this, he quickly entered the teaching building and attacked the ghosts he sensed in the magic circle one by one. His spirit-like teleportation made him extremely fast!

As for the ghost upstairs, that's left to someone else.

The ghost's claws paused on Hachiman Hikigaya's body, and Hachiman Hikigaya even felt a sharp, stinging pain.

"Idiot! Who told you to be so stubborn!"

Hiratsuka Shizuka was terrified and quickly pulled Hikigaya Hachiman away. The two of them moved away from the ghost as fast as they could, because no one knew how long the ghost's pause would last.

Hachiman Hikigaya collapsed to the ground, not even bothering to dodge a punch from Shizuka Hiratsuka. He wiped his sweat, finally regaining some consciousness. Huh? Why are those explosions even quieter now? Do ghost attacks produce explosions?

Everyone was terrified by the immense fear of being between life and death; most of them were completely limp, without any strength, and unable to even speak.

Some students were already terrified and ran out in a panic, but with their screams and the constant explosions coming from all around, no one knew what was going on outside.

All the students looked at each other, still in shock, and the remaining students dared not run out for the time being.

"It must be the Heroic Spirits who made the move!" Hayama Hayato's deduction rekindled everyone's hope, and many girls collapsed to the ground, crying their eyes out.

"Does that mean we don't have to run anymore! Heroic spirits are coming to save us!"

"Waaaaah, that scared me to death! I really thought I was going to die!"

There was even a pungent smell in the air, and some students were so embarrassed that they were pulling at their pants and waving their skirts, wishing there was a crack in the ground for them to crawl into.

"We can't stay here!" Hayato Hayama, true to his reputation as a man who always responds to everyone's expectations, was very clear-headed. No one knew how long this restriction could last. Staying in a classroom with ghosts was too dangerous, and with so many of them, it was easy for them to be wiped out all at once.

"While the ghost is immobilized, everyone, find a place to hide, just like we agreed before!" After saying this, Hayama Hayato pulled Miura Yumiko, who was clinging to his arm and trembling, and prepared to leave the classroom.

But before they even stepped out of the classroom, the red light that had been protecting them vanished.

Everyone's expression changed drastically, and the bound ghosts began to move.

"Get out of the way, you bastard."

An arrogant and beautiful voice sounded from behind.

Before Hachiman Hikigaya could react, he had already pounced on Shizuka Hiratsuka, and the two of them lay on top of each other on the ground.

Hachiman Hikigaya's intuition was correct. The explosions that had been going on all along were still ringing in his ears, making them ache slightly. The smoke and dust that had been kicked up blinded everyone. When the smoke and dust cleared, everyone coughed and looked up.

A golden-haired heroic spirit appeared by the window.
