The Rise of a General's Daughter-in-Law Doctor

Chapter 68: Capture the thief first and capture the king first

The bandit leader was in a good mood at the moment, so he agreed to Li Muxia's request.

He sent three underlings forward to check if Li Muxia and the others had handed over the poison, and to take over the three carriages as well, since he hadn't agreed to take their things.

After confirming that Li Muxia and the others had nothing left, they urged them forward, and to be on the safe side, they tied them up as well.

Bai Qingshi asked in a low voice, "Mu Xia, what exactly is your plan?"

Li Muxia whispered, "To catch the thief, first catch the king."

Shangguan Jingye continued, "We're all tied up now, and we don't know martial arts. How are we supposed to capture the king?"

Li Muxia smiled slyly and said, "You'll find out soon enough."

Li Muxia and his group arrived in front of the bandit leader, who looked them up and down.

Only when he got closer did he realize that Li Muxia was truly stunningly beautiful. On a woman, that face would be absolutely breathtaking, and even he, a man, was somewhat moved by it.

Shangguan Jingye is also very handsome. Although he's not quite as good-looking as the man they caught before, he's still definitely one of the most handsome men in a crowd. The boss will definitely like him.

The bandit leader sized up Li Muxia, and Li Muxia was also sizing up the bandit leader. Although he was very fat, it was obviously just a puffy fat, good-looking but useless.

While observing Li Muxia, Bai Qingshi and Shangguan Jingye quickly cut the rope with a scalpel they had hidden beforehand. Seeing Li Muxia's actions, they quietly adjusted their positions to help Li Muxia block the bandits behind her.

In the nick of time, Li Muxia quickly sprinkled the powder in her hand at the bandit leader. Then, as the bandit leader reached out to cover his face, she threw him to the ground with an over-the-shoulder throw, straddled him, and pinned his hands behind his back.

The change happened so fast that no one had time to react, including Bai Qingshi and Shangguan Jingye. If they hadn't dodged in time, they might already be under the fat man's weight.

Among the crowd, the bound man frowned slightly upon seeing this scene. He then made a gesture towards the shadows.

Once everything had settled down, everyone finally reacted. Li Muxia, still catching her breath, looked at the bandits who were about to step forward and said sternly, "Back off, or I'll kill him right now."

The bandits were also frightened and retreated. That was the second-in-command of the stronghold, the leader's younger brother. If something happened to him, they would never be able to go back.

Li Muxia didn't use a lethal poison on the bandit leader, since she still needed him to intimidate the other bandits. Instead, she gave him a muscle-weakening powder that made him weak all over, but it was a modified version with added itching powder that made people unbearably itchy.

So, the bandit leader, lying on the ground, though completely powerless, still writhed uncomfortably, groaning in pain.

Shangguan Jingye and Bai Qingshi picked up the scalpel that Li Muxia had dropped on the ground, cut the ropes between themselves, and helped Li Muxia lift the bandit leader up.

Li Muxia took the scalpel handed to her by Shangguan Jingye, held it to the bandit leader's neck, and said sternly, "Release the man you captured, bring our carriage over, and have your men retreat five hundred meters, or I will kill you."

After saying that, he glanced at the bandit leader and added, "Don't try any tricks. I've poisoned you. You should be able to feel it. Right now, you're just itchy. In four hours, your whole body will rot and you'll die. Don't think I'm just scaring you. Let me tell you the truth: only I can cure this poison. If you don't believe me, you can try it."

The bandit leader was intimidated; he was genuinely afraid of death. Now, with his whole body itching, he was suffering terribly and wished he were dead. He quickly ordered his men to do as Li Muxia instructed.

After doing all this, the bandit leader tried hard to suppress his discomfort and said cautiously, "Great hero, now that I've done as you said, can you give me the antidote?"

Li Muxia smiled slightly and said sarcastically, "What are you thinking? If I give it to you now, do you think we can leave safely once you've recovered?"

The bandit leader writhed uncomfortably. Upon hearing Li Muxia's words, he nearly fainted from anger. How could there be someone even more shameless than himself? He had already agreed to his demands. Was this man truly a benevolent doctor who saved the world?

After Li Muxia finished speaking, she ignored the bandit leader, handed the man over to Shangguan Jingye, and used her knife to cut the rope binding the man.

Only then did I realize that this man was truly handsome, comparable to the four most handsome men in Kyoto.

The man was tall and slender, with a strikingly handsome, angular face. He appeared carefree and unrestrained, but the depth in his eyes betrayed a hidden depth that commanded respect. His jet-black hair was neatly tied back, and beneath his arched eyebrows were a pair of long, narrow, almond-shaped eyes, captivating and mesmerizing. His high, straight nose and full, red lips were adorned with a dazzling smile.

Li Muxia was momentarily stunned, until the man's magnetic voice rang out: "My surname is Long, and my given name is Jie. Thank you for saving me, my heroes."

When Li Muxia came to her senses and heard that the person's surname was also Long, the image of the boy she missed every day suddenly popped into her mind.

Bai Qingshi frowned slightly upon hearing the man's introduction. In the Dragon Soaring Kingdom, Dragon was the royal surname, although not everyone with the surname Dragon was related to the royal family. However, most people with the surname Dragon were either wealthy or of high status.

Judging from the person's attire, they must be of high status. It's best to avoid dealing with them as much as possible, since getting involved with royalty rarely ends well, even if it's a life-saving favor.

Thinking of this, he stepped forward, cupped his hands, and said, "Not at all, it was nothing. Young Master Long, please don't worry about it. May I ask what your plans are now?"

Seeing the two men start exchanging pleasantries, the bandit leader rolled his eyes and said with a look of utter despair, "How exactly do you want me to get the antidote? I've agreed to all your conditions."

Li Muxia didn't want to waste words with him and said impatiently, "We'll give it to you when we're safe."

Unseen by them, a bandit quickly departed, seemingly heading back to his stronghold to report. This scene did not escape Long Jie's notice. He glanced discreetly at the bandit leader, then cupped his hands to Bai Qing Shi and said, "I was ordered by my father to escort a shipment of goods back to the capital of the Eastern Kingdom. I encountered these bandits on the way. Some of my companions were killed, and some escaped. Now I am the only one left. I wonder if you gentlemen could give me a ride? Once we reach Wu County, where we have business, I can return on my own."
