The Rise of a General's Daughter-in-Law Doctor

Chapter 314 Li Muxia persuades Su Lanzhi

Li Muxia had prepared herself mentally for a long time, but when she stood at the gate of the Su residence, she was still a little uneasy.

Dongfang Jincheng asked, "Shall we go in?"

Li Muxia nodded: "Yes, I must go. I need to tell Lan Zhi the truth."

Dongfang Jincheng gestured for Yuze to knock on the door.

The servant who came out didn't recognize Yuze's identity and asked impatiently, "Who are you looking for?"

Li Muxia stepped forward and said, "I am Li Muxia, and I am here to see the Third Miss, Su Lanzhi."

The servant glanced at Li Muxia, who was dressed as a man, and quickly threw her out. Then, seeing that the person next to Li Muxia was Dongfang Jincheng, he was so frightened that his legs went weak and he knelt down: "This servant did not know that Prince Rui was coming. Please forgive me, Your Highness."

Dongfang Jincheng said, "Alright, get up. I came here with Miss Li. Go and announce my arrival."

The servant dared not delay and quickly ran inside to report. A short while later, Lord Su came running out to greet him.

"Your Highness Prince Rui, I am deeply sorry for failing to greet you properly. Please forgive me."

Dongfang Jincheng rolled his eyes inwardly. Did this family, master and servant, only know this one phrase?

He said impatiently, "Lord Su, please don't stand on ceremony. I've come with Mu Xia to see Miss Su."

As Lord Su ushered the two inside, he said with difficulty, "Well, Lan Zhi has been locking herself in her room for the past two days."

Then, glancing at Li Muxia, he continued, "This humble official will immediately send someone to fetch Lan Zhi."

Upon hearing this, Li Muxia said, "Lord Su, there's no need to trouble yourself. I'll just go and check on Lanzhi's courtyard."

Lord Su said with a smile, "That's fine. It'll be good to trouble Miss Li to help persuade Lan Zhi. Since she came back yesterday, she has locked herself in her room and refused to eat or drink."

Upon hearing this, Li Muxia quickened her pace and walked towards Lan Zhi's courtyard. She had been to the Su residence before, so she knew the way.

Seeing Li Muxia go over, Dongfang Jincheng didn't follow. After all, it wasn't appropriate for a man like him to go into a woman's boudoir.

Lord Su would naturally accompany Dongfang Jincheng.

When Li Muxia arrived at Su Lanzhi's courtyard, she saw the maid Qingqing anxiously knocking on the door, repeatedly urging Su Lanzhi to open it.

Li Muxia came up behind her without her noticing.

"Qingqing."

Hearing someone call her name, Qingqing turned around and saw Li Muxia. She was so excited that tears almost welled up in her eyes.

"Miss Li, you've arrived. Please try to persuade Miss Li; she hasn't eaten for a whole day and night."

Li Muxia patted Qingqing's shoulder and said, "Okay, go and prepare some hot porridge for your young lady, and leave the rest to me."

Upon hearing this, Qingqing happily ran to the small kitchen to cook porridge.

Li Muxia took a deep breath and slowly knocked on the door, saying, "Lanzhi, it's me, your sister Xia."

Inside the room, Su Lanzhi was curled up on the bed, hugging her knees with her arms, staring blankly at the sheets.

Upon hearing Li Muxia's voice, Su Lanzhi's expression changed slightly, and she looked up at the wooden door.

He spoke in a hoarse voice, "Sister Xia."

Her voice was too soft; Li Muxia outside the door couldn't hear it at all.

"Lanzhi, I know you're very upset right now. Could you let me in first? I have a lot to tell you."

Su Lanzhi made a move. She slowly got out of bed, without even putting on shoes. The charcoal brazier in the room had long been extinguished, and the temperature inside the room was only a few degrees warmer than outside.

However, she didn't feel cold at all. But her body was honest; the physiological shiver made her unable to control herself, and the short distance took her the time it takes to brew a cup of tea.

During this time, Li Muxia kept urging Su Lanzhi to open the door.

Just as Li Muxia was rubbing her hands in the cold, the door opened.

Seeing Su Lanzhi dressed in only a single layer of clothing and barefoot on the ground, Li Muxia quickly stepped forward and led Su Lanzhi inside.

Feeling the temperature in the room, she turned around and closed the door.

She said, "Lanzhi, why don't you take care of yourself? What if you get sick from the cold?"

When Li Muxia touched Su Lanzhi's hand, it was as cold as ice. Li Muxia rubbed her hands together, led her to the bed, and covered her with the blanket.

He turned around and lit the charcoal brazier.

Seeing the heat emanating from the charcoal brazier, he came to the bedside and tenderly hugged Su Lanzhi, partly to warm her and partly to comfort her.

"Lanzhi, how could you be so foolish as to punish yourself for someone else's mistake?"

Su Lanzhi didn't speak, but she moved her face closer to Li Muxia. Li Muxia could hear Su Lanzhi rinsing her nose, and she knew that Su Lanzhi was crying.

While comforting Su Lanzhi, she said with a pained expression, "Lanzhi, I'm sorry."

Su Lanzhi was somewhat surprised upon hearing this: "Sister Xia, what are you saying? Why are you apologizing?"

Her voice was hoarse; prolonged dehydration had made it sound weak and listless.

Li Muxia didn't know how to explain it to her. She could only start from the beginning and say, "We've caught the person who kidnapped you."

Su Lanzhi didn't react much to this. After all, she had already been violated, so what difference would it make if the murderer was caught?

Li Muxia continued, "The mastermind behind this is Ashida, but..."

Li Muxia paused for a moment at this point.

He took a few deep breaths and then said, "Ashida's initial target was me, and I'm the one who dragged you into this."

After Li Muxia finished speaking, she closed her eyes, and a tear slid down her cheek.

Upon hearing this, Su Lanzhi looked up at Li Muxia in alarm.

Seeing Su Lanzhi's terrified expression, Li Muxia said with a face full of guilt, "Lanzhi, I... you can scold me or hit me if you want..."

Before Li Muxia could finish speaking, Su Lanzhi interrupted, "Why are you cursing? Why are you hitting? I remember what Sister Xia said. I should hate the mastermind behind the murder, not Sister Xia, who is also a victim."

Li Muxia was surprised by Su Lanzhi's reaction. After all, in this ancient era where female chastity was of utmost importance, a woman who lost her chastity was no different from one who lost her life.

She had previously instilled some knowledge about modern women's independence in Su Lanzhi and Li Anran, but she really didn't expect Su Lanzhi to be so receptive.

Seeing Li Muxia's somewhat incredulous expression, Su Lanzhi suppressed her fear and looked somewhat relieved.

"Sister Xia, I am so glad now."

Li Muxia asked in confusion, "What are you glad about?"
