The Rise of a General's Daughter-in-Law Doctor

Chapter 183 Anniversary of Parents' Death

That evening, Li Muxia personally cooked a table full of dishes. Bai Qingshi was only four or five years older than General Li, so he was treated according to General Li's seniority.

Xiaoyaozi naturally followed Bai Qingshi's generation.

At the table, Xiaoyaozi hadn't eaten Li Muxia's cooking for a long time and missed it terribly, so he didn't eat in a very proper manner. However, this was still his behavior after restraining himself.

Bai Qingshi looked at his senior brother and shook his head with a wry smile. His senior brother was like an old rascal.

The old general didn't mind at all. Looking at Xiaoyaozi's eating habits, he thought he was eating very well, which made his own appetite much better, and he ate an extra bowl of rice.

The old general was very talkative and got along very well with Xiaoyaozi and Bai Qingshi. However, most of their conversation revolved around the interesting things that happened to Li Muxia while she was learning medicine from Bai Qingshi.

Li Muxia would occasionally chime in, but most of the time she would just listen to them.

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, Li Muxia mentioned that she wanted to go to Jishi Manor with them.

The old general pondered for a moment before speaking, “I don’t object to Muxia going, but in a few days it will be the anniversary of Muxia’s parents’ death. Last year, due to special circumstances, we only had Muxia’s coming-of-age ceremony. This year, we also plan to take Muxia to the ancestral graves to offer incense to Youhong and Zhishu. So, Muxia, Grandpa still hopes that you can go to Jishi Manor a few days later this time. After your parents’ death anniversary has passed, Grandpa will send someone to take you there.”

Upon hearing this, Li Muxia felt somewhat guilty. If the old general hadn't mentioned it, she would have completely forgotten that the day the original owner of this body was born was also the day her parents passed away.

Li Muxia said with some guilt, "Grandpa, I'm sorry, it was Muxia who didn't think things through."

Then, looking at Bai Qingshi, she said, "Master, I'm sorry, I won't go back with you this time. After the anniversary of my parents' death, Mu Xia will go to Jishi Manor to meet up with you."

Bai Qingshi and Xiaoyaozi both understood and nodded in agreement.

Bai Qingshi: "In that case, I'll have Jingye stay and wait for you."

Li Muxia: "No need, Master. Senior brother should go back with you. If there's anything you need help with, having senior brother there will be an extra person. You don't need to worry about me. The guards at the General's Mansion are very capable."

Hearing Li Muxia say this, knowing that Li Muxia was worried that they would be too busy, she did not insist on having Shangguan Jingye stay.

Shangguan Jingye was like an outsider; he didn't say a word before everyone decided his schedule. Didn't anyone ask for his opinion? He could only helplessly lower his head and eat his rice.

And so, early the next morning, Bai Qingshi and his group set off. Li Muxia saw them off at the city gate.

"Master, this is the pork jerky I made last night, and some old-fashioned cakes. The pork jerky keeps well, so I brought you extra. These old-fashioned cakes don't keep well and should be eaten within three days."

Since returning from the palace banquet, Li Muxia had an oven built in the courtyard. She originally intended to bake cakes for her family members' birthdays, but she ended up using it this time. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to make either of these two things.

Upon hearing about food, Xiaoyaozi came over, snatched the package from Li Muxia's hand, and said with a smile, "At least you have some conscience, you brat."

After chatting for a few more minutes, Bai Qingshi, seeing that it was almost time, gave a word of advice and left.

When she returned to the mansion, she saw Li Anran eating a traditional cake in her courtyard. When she saw Li Muxia, she greeted her warmly, "Sister, this pastry is so delicious! How did you make it?"

Li Muxia could tell that Li Anran was also a typical foodie.

"This is nothing. It would be really delicious with cream."

Upon hearing that it could taste even better than it does now, Li Anran immediately became interested and asked while eating, "What's that cream?"

Li Muxia explained how to make cream, but Li Anran listened with a dazed look on her face. Although she didn't quite understand, she knew that the cream was made from milk and that the method of making it was not simple.

Li Anran: "Sis, do you know how to make this cream?"

Li Muxia: "Yes, I can. I just need some tools. I had them made a couple of days ago, and I can pick them up tomorrow. Once I get them, I can start making it. I just don't know if it will be successful, but I think it should work if I try a few more times."

Upon hearing that she would get cream, Li Anran was as happy as a three-year-old.

Looking at her, Li Muxia said, "This cream is delicious, but you can't eat too much of it, or you'll become a little fat girl."

Li Anran was not intimidated by these words; instead, she excitedly replied, "I'm not afraid."

Upon hearing this, Li Muxia shook her head and smiled wryly. She really was a foodie.

Seeing Li Anran reach for the old-fashioned cake on the plate again, Li Muxia patted her hand and said, "Alright, you've eaten enough today. These are for Sister Wei and Lanzhi. Have you forgotten that we made plans to have hot pot with Sister Wei today?"

Li Anran then remembered that it seemed that yesterday at noon, when she invited Wei Shuyue to lunch, Wei Shuyue declined. However, they agreed to have hot pot together at Xiankelai today. Li Muxia originally wanted her to eat at her own home, but thinking that Wei Shuyue would feel awkward, she finally decided to have it at Xiankelai. Li Anran said she would invite Su Lanzhi along, and that afternoon she sent a letter to the Su residence.

Li Anran glanced longingly at the pastries on the table and said to Li Muxia, "Sister, this cake is so delicious. If you opened a pastry shop like this, I would definitely come here every day."

Li Muxia's eyes lit up when she heard Li Anran's words. Yes, opening a clinic would be quite expensive. Right now, she only had one clinic, and the money she earned was not enough to cover the clinic's expenses. It seemed she needed to consider opening more clinics.

Li Muxia never expected that she, a doctor, would have to rely on food to realize her ideals and ambitions in this ancient world.

However, she wasn't good at business, so she handed over all the management to Manager Wang. She would occasionally offer suggestions and provide recipes. The two of them worked together very well, one managing the operations and the other creating new dishes. She still needed to discuss the matter of opening a shop with Manager Wang.

Li Muxia arrived at the restaurant early. Wei Shuyue and Su Lanzhi hadn't arrived yet. Li Muxia told Li Anran to wait in a private room while she went to find Manager Wang.

When Cyclamen was renovated last time, Li Muxia specially converted it into an office, which is usually where Manager Wang works and does financial accounting. There is also a reception room for attracting investment, but it has not been used yet.
