The Rise of a General's Daughter-in-Law Doctor

Chapter 17 Meeting the Medical Sage

Shangguan Jingye stood up and respectfully said to Li Muxia, "Muxia, how did you rescue the child who was stuck? Could you please give me some pointers?"

When Li Muxia saw the topic shift to discussing medical skills, she was overjoyed. She was one step closer to her goal. Haha, Ran'er is so awesome!

Although she wanted to jump up and cheer inside, she still had to appear gentle on the surface. Li Muxia immediately said easily, "It's nothing. The purpose of my visit to the Shangguan Mansion today is to thank my uncle for lending me the 'Collection of Herbs'. In return, I brought a gift for my uncle. Although it is not as precious as the 'Collection of Herbs', it is still a life-saving method in an emergency. Among them is the method I used to treat the little boy yesterday."

As he spoke, he pulled out the first aid knowledge he had written yesterday from his sleeve and handed it to Shangguan Jingye with both hands. Everyone present craned their necks, wanting to see what this life-saving method was.

Shangguan Jingye was also somewhat excited. He was very curious about the life-saving method, and his hands trembled slightly with his thirst for medical knowledge. He took the prescription from Li Muxia and gently opened it. He carefully read the words on it, becoming more and more excited and happy with each reading.

He looked up at Li Muxia, his voice trembling with excitement, and said, "Muxia, could you come with me to see my master?" His master would be thrilled to see Li Muxia's medical prescriptions. Thinking of how his master had been so worried about his junior sister lately, this should cheer him up.

It was clear that Shangguan Jingye was trying his best to suppress his excitement. Everyone present, except for Li Anran, was very curious about what kind of medical prescription could elicit such a strong reaction from the usually composed Shangguan Jingye.

Before Li Muxia could answer, Shangguan Wenya, who was standing next to the old lady, couldn't help but speak up, "Third Uncle, what method is it? Don't keep it a secret, let us see it too."

The old lady chimed in curiously, "Yes, Jingye, what is it? Even you love it so much."

Shangguan Jingye quickly adjusted his state, and the gentle and refined scholar returned. He calmly said to the old lady, "Mother, your master, Mu Xia, will definitely be very interested in this medical prescription. Let's keep it a secret for now, and I will explain it to you after my master and I have studied it together."

The old lady wasn't angry. After all, medical skills can both heal and harm people, and even the slightest mistake can lead to irreversible consequences.

After Shangguan Jingye finished speaking, he looked at Li Muxia, waiting for her answer.

Li Muxia didn't miss Shangguan Jingye's emotional fluctuations. She was so happy she almost jumped for joy. "I knew I hadn't given the wrong gift! My future master is indeed very interested! Ah, my path to becoming his disciple is one big step closer!"

Although she was happy, she still smiled and nodded, saying, "Of course, I also have something I want to discuss with my uncle."

Having received Li Muxia's affirmation, Shangguan Jingye immediately asked the old lady for leave: "Mother, I will take Muxia back to Qingzhu Garden first. Please take the medicine I prescribed every day, along with Muxia's medicinal meals. You will recover soon."

Knowing her son's attitude towards medicine, the old lady didn't object and waved her hand in agreement.

Li Anran quickly said, "Grandmother, I'll go too!"

As he spoke, he took Li Muxia's hand and bowed to the old lady. The group then left the old lady's Xinyuan Hall and headed to the Qingzhu Garden where his uncle lived.

Qingzhu Garden wasn't far from Liyuan Hall; it was just a short walk through a small garden. On the way, Li Anran vividly recounted Li Muxia's heroic act of saving people the day before to her uncle, which made Shangguan Jingye even more excited.

The layout of Qingzhu Garden is simple yet elegant. Since Shangguan Jingye does not live in the mansion for a long time, there is only a small bamboo grove and two artificial hills for decoration in the courtyard. The bluestone floor is clean and without a trace of dirt, which shows that he is a clean person.

There were only two servants in the courtyard, responsible for sweeping and cleaning. Usually, Shangguan Jingye was studying medicine with his master, so these two servants were in charge of taking care of Qingzhu Garden. At this moment, the two were quietly clearing the weeds from the bamboo grove.

Upon seeing Shangguan Jingye leading Li Muxia and the others back, he quickly stood up and bowed.

Shangguan Jingye waved for the two to stand up and asked, "Xiao Wu, where is Master?"

One of the servants quickly replied, "The Sage of Medicine is currently in the guest room."

After getting the answer, Shangguan Jingye led Li Muxia and the others to the guest room on the east side to find the Medical Sage. Li Anran held Li Muxia's arm, looking around with his eyes. This was the second time he had come to his uncle's place. The last time he came was to borrow books for Li Muxia, so he didn't look around carefully. Now he realized that his uncle's courtyard had very few decorations, but it looked very clean and tidy, which made people feel very comfortable.

Upon arriving at the guest room where the Medical Sage resided, the door was open. A middle-aged man, probably in his forties or fifties, with a mustache, was holding a book, sipping tea while frowning as he read. Hearing footsteps at the door, he looked up and saw Shangguan Jingye standing there, about to knock, along with Li Muxia and the others behind him.

The medical sage put down his book and teacup, slowly stood up, and looked puzzled.

Before the Medical Sage could ask any questions, Shangguan Jingye introduced them: "Master, this is Li Muxia, the eldest daughter of the Protector General's Mansion, and next to her is the second daughter, Li Anran, who are my two nieces."

After speaking, he turned to Li Muxia and Li Anran and introduced them, "This is my master, the Medical Sage Bai Qingshi."

Li Muxia and Li Anran curtsied slightly and said in unison, "Muxia (Anran) greets the Medical Sage Senior."

Bai Qingshi offered a helping hand to the two of them, then turned to look at Shangguan Jingye.

Shangguan Jingye noticed his master's confusion and explained, "Master, it's like this, Mu Xia has a medical prescription here." He handed the paper to the Medical Sage and continued, "I've already read it and found the treatment method recorded on it to be quite novel, so I brought Mu Xia here to ask Master for his advice."

Bai Qingshi took the prescription and looked at it carefully. Li Muxia also observed Bai Qingshi's expression, and saw Bai Qingshi's facial expression change from calm and composed to bright eyes and then to ecstatic joy.

Then he suddenly looked up at Li Muxia and asked with a slightly excited tone, "Little girl, where did you get this medical prescription from?"
