The Primordial Mosquito Dao Chronicle
Chapter 90 Matters of the Underworld (Please add to your favorites and recommend)
Seeing Mosquito Daoist sitting there frowning and silent, Hongjun could guess what was going on. He said, "Fellow Daoist Beiming, do you remember when we fought Rahu, causing the destruction of the western ley lines?"
"I still remember this matter. Could it be that our calamity originated in the West? But many years have passed since then. Even if Rahu has recovered, he can only roam freely in the chaos. What does this matter have to do with the Netherworld?"
Back then, Luo Hou swore an oath to the Great Dao and founded the Demonic Sect. This led to his expulsion from the Primordial World, confined to the Chaos Realm for the rest of his life. Mosquito Daoist believes that even if Luo Hou recovers and further advances his cultivation in just tens of thousands of years, he still wouldn't be able to contend with the Heavenly Dao, would he?
"We cannot know what happened yet, but we can tell that it is related to you and me. However, we only crossed paths at that time, and it led to the tragedy in the West. Therefore, we can only speculate that the next great kalpa will occur in the West."
"Teacher, does this mean that another disaster is about to befall our West?" Zhunti was immediately alarmed. The West was already sparsely populated. If another calamity were to strike, achieving the eighteen great vows he had made would be even more distant.
The bitter expression on Jieyin's face grew even more pained. What Zhunti could think of, he naturally knew as well. The demon race was originally wiped out in the west, so it was likely that they would reappear in the west when the next great calamity arrived.
Upon hearing this, Hongjun simply nodded, then looked at the Three Pure Ones and the others, his expression slightly grave. He said, "Although this matter is a tribulation for me and Fellow Daoist Beiming, you are all disciples of Taoism and should also be included in this tribulation."
When Hongjun foresaw this, he was also greatly surprised. He knew that he had already merged with the Heavenly Dao, and although the Heavenly Dao was not perfect, it was immeasurably stronger than at the beginning of creation. Add to that the six saints, including Laozi. He truly couldn't imagine who in the primordial world could threaten him.
However, after repeated deductions, they could only helplessly accept this fact. Currently, the Six Paths of Reincarnation are in effect, and the Netherworld has been newly established; therefore, everyone is summoned to the Purple Cloud Palace to discuss this matter.
Regardless of Jieyin and Zhunti's concerns, Hongjun continued, "Now that the Underworld has been established, all those below the Quasi-Saint level are already on the Book of Life and Death. Therefore, even if calamities come and others perish, as long as their souls are not completely destroyed, they will all have the opportunity to be reincarnated."
However, since the underworld is temporarily unmanaged, you must all work together to overcome this calamity. Even if you die, those who make great contributions during this great calamity will be able to hold positions in the underworld and enjoy the blessings of merit.
Upon hearing Hongjun's words, the Three Pure Ones and the others' eyes lit up. They had previously wanted to intervene in the affairs of the Underworld, but had not known how, and had therefore had to shamelessly ask for help. But now, as long as they made contributions in the future great calamity, they could enjoy the benefits—how could this not make them happy?
Although the six individuals, as enlightened saints, will not personally take up positions in the underworld, their disciples can obtain positions there, which should boost the sect's fortune. Furthermore, the underworld is where all beings go after death, and having disciples there will make things much easier in the future.
The only concern is that during the great eons, one should not end up with both soul and spirit annihilated. Although the Book of Life and Death already holds a trace of the true spirit of all beings, if even the primordial spirit is destroyed by others, there will be little achievement even in the underworld. Those important positions are a pipe dream; being a mere underling in the underworld would be quite good.
"Fellow Daoist Beiming, what do you think?" Regardless of what Laozi and the others were thinking, Hongjun looked at Mosquito Daoist. After all, the Underworld was established by him, and this method was the most suitable for the present situation.
Mosquito Daoist understood that if such a calamity truly existed, Hongjun's method would naturally be feasible; otherwise, why would the beings of the prehistoric world risk their lives for him? Now that there was something compelling enough, he believed they would spare no effort to carry it out.
However, he felt somewhat disadvantaged. Although he was in the midst of a calamity, Hongjun was in the same boat. While the other party had strong influence, Mosquito Daoist was truly unwilling to accept that he would have to give something in return later.
“This is feasible, but Fengdu City has its own arrangements. As for the head of the Ten Kings of Hell, he should be the Styx Good Corpse, the Daoist of Life and Death. After all, the other party was killed by the Book of Life and Death, and it is impossible to entrust this treasure to someone else.”
"Very well. When the calamity comes in the future, I will summon you all again. As for the details, you can discuss them yourselves." Hongjun nodded, then disappeared from Zixiao Palace. He didn't care about these things; his only goal was to survive the great calamity.
............
After Hongjun departed, the group bowed respectfully to the platform. They weren't surprised; he had already attained Dao and probably wouldn't want to get involved in such trivial matters as those of the Underworld.
As for the demands made by the Mosquito Taoist, the Six Sages had no objections. Although everyone coveted the position of the head of the Ten Courts of Hell, the Underworld was ultimately established by the other party, and the Taoist of Life and Death did indeed use this treasure to carve it out, which was understandable. They were already greatly honored to have the opportunity to occupy the other nine courts of Hell.
Seeing that no one had any objections, Mosquito Taoist then looked at Jieyin and Zhunti and said, "Since the current predicament in the West is partly due to my own actions, the position of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva in Cuiyun Palace can be handed over to you. As for the other positions, you can each rely on your own abilities."
To be honest, Cuiyun Palace will likely become the residence of those willing to preach to evil spirits in the future, and Mosquito Taoist has little interest in this place. But it's not necessarily a bad thing for the Western Religion, since they also spend their days guiding people towards good and saving all sentient beings, so it doesn't matter where they are.
Upon hearing Mosquito Taoist's words, both Jieyin and Zhunti showed delight. They hadn't expected him to grant them land without any conditions. They immediately looked at Beiming with less dislike than before.
Throughout their lives, whenever they encountered each other, nothing good ever came of it, and they were constantly bullied by each other. Even after establishing the Western Religion, Bei Ming forbade the human race from participating, which truly infuriated the two of them.
They had hoped that after achieving sainthood, they could use their cultivation to suppress their opponent. However, reality was extremely cruel. Unexpectedly, although the original Beiming had not yet achieved sainthood, his benevolent self had attained enlightenment first, which made them feel very aggrieved. In the end, they concluded that no matter what matter involved, the West could not expect to benefit from it.
"Fellow Daoist Beiming is very kind, but what about the oath my master and I made that day? Would you consider canceling it as well?" Having received the benefit, Jieyin took the opportunity to bring up the oath from that day. Although this matter would not affect them personally, they also wanted to go to the Netherworld to see it.
Mosquito Taoist thought for a moment, and it seemed that this matter would not affect him. Jieyin and Zhunti themselves would not go to the local Tibetan king, so let them go if they wanted to see it, as long as they did not cause him any trouble.
Furthermore, since his own appearance has already shifted the trajectory of primordial history, he cannot rely on everything he knows from his past life. By showing goodwill to Jieyin and Zhunti now, he can avoid incurring their resentment and will be able to go further on his path of cultivation.
Having made the decision, Mosquito Daoist nodded and said, "Okay, but you must guarantee that you will not attack my Blood Sea lineage without cause in the future."
