Another World: The Failed Magician

Chapter 4 Heavenly Punishment

Soon after, Lu Xuan finished preparing dinner and pushed open the door to bring in a bowl of ordinary vegetarian noodles.

Rod looked at Lu Xuan and said, "Thank you!"

Lu Xuan didn't say anything, just nodded, placed the noodles on the table beside the bed, and left the room.

As he left the room, a hint of surprise, imperceptible to outsiders, appeared on Lu Xuan's expressionless face.

Before we knew it, it was night, and the stars eagerly jumped out.

Lu Xuan returned to his room. The room wasn't decorated much; if it weren't for its relatively tidy appearance, one might even think that no one lived there.

Lu Xuan pushed open his drawer and took out an extremely black stone.

Lu Xuan took out the stone and was about to leave when he thought for a moment. He then returned to his room and took out another stone from the same spot, just like the one before. After doing this, Lu Xuan left his room.

A short while later, Lu Xuan arrived at the room where Rhodes was staying. However, instead of pushing the door open and going in, he took out the two black stones and placed them in an inconspicuous spot in front of the room.

After doing all this, Lu Xuan snapped his fingers under the cover of night, and a black cloak and a black mask appeared in his hands.

Lu Xuan donned a cloak and a mask, stepping out of the academy into the night. The demonic image on the black mask seemed to come alive, emanating an ominous aura that enveloped Lu Xuan. Wearing the demonic mask, Lu Xuan vanished from the academy gate as if he had disappeared into the darkness.

After a while, Lu Xuan suddenly appeared in front of an ordinary inn, like a demon emerging from the ground.

The inn is called "Good Guest Inn". The inn has a moderate number of guests. Although it was already night, there were still some scattered guests.

Lu Xuan, dressed in strange attire, entered the inn, but his odd appearance went unnoticed by the guests. They acted as if they couldn't see him at all.

Lu Xuan walked to the counter of the inn, snapped his fingers, and the demon mask on his face lost its previous lifelike appearance and became an ordinary mask.

A middle-aged man stood in front of the counter. He was dressed and looked very ordinary, but his eyes occasionally revealed a shrewdness.

The man looked at the strange man in a black robe and wearing a demon mask who had suddenly appeared in front of him, without the slightest surprise. Instead, he spoke as if he were facing a long-time friend, saying, "Sir, you've come again! Is there anything I can do for you? We can help you."

Lu Xuan didn't speak, but simply pointed to the shelf where the drinks were placed.

The man immediately understood what Lu Xuan meant. He said to the room behind him, "Xiaoyu, come to the front desk for a moment. I have a distinguished guest to attend to."

As soon as the man finished speaking, a girl with long, emerald-green hair walked out. Although she was wearing an unremarkable maid outfit, the cheap clothes seemed to come alive on her, making her look incredibly noble and beautiful. The patrons in the hall, who had been dozing off, immediately perked up and turned their eyes to the front desk.

Lu Xuan didn't say anything and followed the man into a dimly lit room.

After the two sat down in the room, Lu Xuan habitually took out a black stone and placed it on the table. The black stone emitted a strange light.

Seeing Lu Xuan's behavior, the man shook his head and said helplessly, "Sir, we've cooperated so many times, I think you should have felt our sincerity. There's no need to be so wary of us!"

Lu Xuan didn't answer the man's question, but directly stated his purpose: "I need information on all the major events that have recently occurred in the Kingdom of Light, as well as information on the Cape family and that Princess Charlotte. In particular, I need the most detailed information on Cape Rod, the heir of the Cape family."

The man didn't ask Lu Xuan why, but instead said, "As you wish, what you asked for will be placed in the usual spot tomorrow."

Lu Xuan nodded upon hearing the man's reply, placed a money pouch on the table, and turned to leave.

Seeing that Lu Xuan was about to leave, the man said in a sincere tone, "Sir, I'll say it again: the gates of Tianfa are always open for you."

Lu Xuan did not answer the man's words, turned around and disappeared into the darkness.
