Another World: The Failed Magician

After seeing Lu Xuan leave the tavern, Dean White did not follow.

After sitting in the same spot for a short while, Castor came over again, carrying two more cups of Dragon Tongue. He handed one to Dean White and then sat down opposite Dean White with the other cup.

After taking a sip of his drink, Caster slowly said, "That's a top-grade musket! I really don't know how you got this thing from that stingy guy Delos. It's his lifeline."

Dean White also took a sip and replied nonchalantly, "I naturally have my own methods."

"You still think highly of that kid? Did he agree to be your student now?" Castor continued to ask.

"No, that kid doesn't want to. He's still my partner, but he doesn't want to join the Frunze Academy."

"Then you even got him a top-grade musket?" Caster asked, somewhat puzzled.

Faced with Castor's puzzlement, Dean White confidently replied, "It's only a matter of time. He will join Frunze Academy sooner or later, and I don't mind paying a price for my student in advance."

Hearing Dean White's words, Castor immediately became interested: "Are you so sure? Although I don't know what that kid has been through, I can tell that he doesn't seem like the type to join your Frunze Academy. I'm pretty good at judging people. Old man, do you remember when you first brought him here? That kid drank seven cups of Dragon Tongue a day. I was really afraid he'd die in my tavern. Dean White slowly took a sip of wine: "You're absolutely right. That kid isn't interested in anything. So, as his future teacher, I have to find a way to get him to care about something. You know, people need something to keep going, maybe it's faith, maybe it's desire, or maybe it's something else. So seeing that kid acting like he doesn't care about anything every day really annoys me. So I have to find something for him to do. Maybe he'll find something he cares about on this trip to the Eastern Dragon Empire."

"So what? I hate you the most, you old geezer. I'm asking where you get the confidence to make that kid your student. What are you talking about? Are you trying to lecture me on philosophy, you old brute?" Castor cursed at White while drinking.

But Dean White remained mysterious: "Of course I'm confident! You know I have a wide network of connections. Those fortune tellers in the Eastern Dragon Empire are very powerful. I happen to know one or two of them, so I consulted them a bit about how to solve my student's problem."

"What? I had no idea you old codger started believing in fortune telling, so you're giving him advice from a fortune teller for this mission?" Castor looked like he'd seen a ghost when he heard White's words.

Dean White spoke with a disdainful look, "Don't use your narrow-minded understanding to understand a profession. The fortune tellers you know are all charlatans, but the people I know are different. I have a lot of faith in my friends."

Caster looked at the dean with disdain and said, "You old fool, whatever makes you happy. Anyway, that kid has nothing to do with me. I've heard that the Eastern Dragon Empire is in a mess right now. Don't wait until that kid doesn't come back before you regret it."

Upon hearing Custer's words, Dean White remained confident, completely disregarding Custer's words.

Seeing Dean White's appearance, Custer didn't want to say anything more to the old man, so he downed the wine in his glass and returned to his front desk.
