After time travel, share a space with your modern family.

Chapter 8 The Space Butler, the Purple Elf

Ruan Mumu and Chen Donghua slept together on the door panel bed at night. The space was already small, and the two of them squeezed together made it even more cramped.

Adding to the sweltering heat, it felt as if the air itself had solidified.

The hard wooden board made my back ache, and the buzzing of mosquitoes could be heard from time to time. I don't know how many mosquito bites I had, and the itching was so bad that I could hardly feel anything.

This was the most uncomfortable sleep Ruan Mumu had ever had in her life, bar none!

At this moment, she misses her Simmons mattress, air conditioner, and mosquito repellent lamp terribly.

She silently repeated these words to herself as she drifted off to sleep.

In her sleep, her consciousness was blurred, and she seemed to have arrived in an unknown place.

However, when she stepped through the door, she found the atmosphere there to be unusually heavy.

There was a mourning hall set up in the living room, with a coffin in the center and a peaceful-looking girl lying inside.

Beside the coffin, a middle-aged woman was crying her heart out, her grief palpable.

A middle-aged man wearing glasses stood nearby, holding the woman tightly, trying to offer her some comfort.

Beside them stood two men dressed in black and a young woman also dressed in black.

There were also some people in military uniforms silently paying their respects nearby.

Seeing this scene, Ruan Mumu felt a sharp pain in her heart, and tears welled up in her eyes.

She didn't understand why she was seeing such a scene, and who this girl was.

What was her relationship with this family? Countless questions flooded her mind, causing her heart to ache as if pierced by needles.

Ruan Mumu slowly walked to the center of the mourning hall and first glanced at the woman in the coffin.

The moment she saw the face clearly, she felt devastated; the woman inside was actually herself.

Looking at the woman who was crying her heart out and was almost fainting, she was filled with endless grief and longing.

She reached out her trembling hands, trying to embrace the poor man who had lost his loved ones.

But when her hand touched the woman, she found that her hand had become transparent and invisible!

Suddenly her consciousness cleared; these were her family members.

She screamed in terror, "Mom and Dad, I'm home! I've come back to see you!"

However, her cries went unanswered; only the mournful weeping echoed around her.

As time went on, the figures of the other people around him became increasingly blurry.

At that moment, Ruan Mumu finally understood that she no longer belonged to this world.

Her family and friends will never see her again, and she will only be able to wander alone in this endless darkness.

Ruan Mumu's heart grew heavier, and tears streamed down her face like a burst dam.

She kept sobbing, "Mom and Dad, where are you? I want to go home, I want to go home so much..."

Her hands were flailing wildly, as if trying to dispel the darkness before her and find a way home.

"Mumu... Mumu... what are you saying?" Chen Donghua heard her daughter crying in the darkness and frantically groped her way to her feet.

When she touched her daughter's burning hot body, she was startled and thought to herself, "Oh no, my daughter has a high fever!"

The night sky was pitch black, without a single ray of moonlight. Even the stars seemed to fear the darkness, hiding behind the clouds.

In this endless darkness, Chen Donghua anxiously called out Ruan Mumu's name.

Her voice was exceptionally clear and penetrating in the quiet night, startling the Ruan brothers, Ruan Xiaojun and Ruan Xiaohai, in the next room.

The two brothers groped their way to the doorway and anxiously asked, "Mother, what happened to our sister?"

Hearing her sons' voices, Chen Donghua felt as if she had grasped a lifeline.

Her voice trembled with tears as she replied, "Mumu suddenly developed a high fever; her body is burning hot!"

Upon hearing this, Ruan Xiaojun immediately followed Chen Donghua's voice and groped his way into the room.

As he approached the bedside, he stopped and comforted his mother, saying, "Mother, don't worry, it will be dawn soon."

As soon as it's light, I'll go find Doctor Liu to treat my sister."

Meanwhile, Ruan Xiaohai walked towards the kitchen in the dark, which was at the end of the corridor.

He remembered that before going to bed last night, he had placed a bowl of clean water on a wooden board there, upside down, to avoid getting it dirty.

That was prepared in case you get thirsty in the middle of the night.

With the help of the faint light, Ruan Xiaohai finally managed to touch the bowl containing the water.

He carefully carried the water and slowly moved to the door of his mother's room.

Ruan Xiaohai called softly, "Mother, I brought some water for my sister to drink."

Chen Donghua replied, "Okay, come over slowly, don't spill the water."

“Okay, Mom, you can talk to me. I can’t see, but I can walk over to you while you’re talking.”

Ruan Xiaohai carefully protected the bowl with both hands while slowly probing the path with his feet.

"Xiaohai, take your time, don't rush," Chen Donghua said slowly in response to her son's words.

Ruan Xiaohai quickly arrived at the bedside and reminded his mother to be careful not to touch his bowl.

They had their older brother and mother help their younger sister up, and it was only with great difficulty that they managed to feed Ruan Mumu some water.

After half an hour of fussing, Ruan Mumu's high fever finally subsided, and she finally calmed down and went to sleep.

The two brothers went back to their room to continue sleeping, and Chen Donghua was finally able to lie down as well.

It seems that Ruan Mumu has returned to the villa where she lived, but this time the mourning hall that was set up before is no longer visible. Instead, she has returned to her room.

"Welcome home, Master." A voice that sounded like a robot rang in Ruan Mumu's ears.

Ruan Mumu asked curiously, "Who are you? Why do you call me master?"

"Master, I am your space butler, Purple Elf." It was the same robot's voice that responded earlier.

Ruan Mumu searched the room for the purple sprite, but couldn't find anyone there.

"Master, there's no need to look anymore. You can't see or touch me."

"Now you're in your own space; this will be your secret base from now on." It was that robot's voice again.

Upon hearing the robot's words, Ruan Mumu was overjoyed: My room—a space? An essential piece of equipment for time travelers?
