Chapter 29 Finding the Lantern in the Space

That night, Ruan Mumu's family was finally able to sleep soundly in their new bed.

Because she bought so many things, Chen Donghua spent half a day tidying up and was so tired that she went to bed early.

Ruan Mumu had been looking for an opportunity to sneak into the space to collect spiritual spring water, so she kept an eye on the movements of Chen Donghua's bed.

When they bought the bed, they also bought the canopy, since they sometimes need a private space to feel at ease when changing clothes.

Before going to sleep, once the bed curtains are drawn, even if someone outside wants to see what the person inside the bed is doing, they can only see a blurry shadow and basically nothing at all.

After buying the bed, Ruan Mumu and the others installed the door back in their room. At this moment, apart from the few specks of moonlight streaming in from the window, the room was pitch black.

"Mother, are you asleep?" Ruan Mumu asked tentatively in a low voice.

Apart from the soft snoring coming from beside Chen Donghua's bed, there was no other sound.

After confirming that Chen Donghua would not wake up, Ruan Mumu stuffed some clothes under the covers on the bed to make it look like someone was fast asleep, and only a blurry shadow could be seen from outside the curtains.

After doing all this, Ruan Mumu covered her head with the blanket, took out her father's watch from her pocket, turned on the watch's light, and saw that it was already 11:35 p.m.

Ruan Mumu carefully tucked the watch back into the inside pocket of her clothes, then whispered, "Enter." Instantly, she appeared in her own room within the space.

As soon as she entered the space, Ruan Mumu rushed to the kitchen to collect the spiritual spring water for the day. Seeing that it was almost time for the next day, Ruan Mumu decided to stay in the space until after midnight and collect the spiritual spring water when the new day arrived. This way, she could ensure she could harvest spiritual spring water every day; otherwise, the space wouldn't send her any extra water if she missed it.

After finishing these tasks, she sat down on the sofa in the living room, thinking about how to use the existing items in the space to make money without arousing suspicion.

"Mr. Zi, are you there? Come out and chat with me!" Ruan Mumu called out expectantly.

However, she was met with a slightly disgruntled voice from the purple elf: "Master, why aren't you asleep in the middle of the night? What do you need me for? This little one needs plenty of sleep to replenish my energy so I can keep leveling up." Hearing this complaint, Ruan Mumu couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright! Alright! I'll only take a few minutes of your time. I wonder if there's anything in this space that I can take out and exchange for money?" Ruan Mumu asked the Purple Elf humbly.

"If you want something that doesn't stand out, there are other options, like our spiritual spring water. It can't cure all diseases, but it has strong restorative properties. Why don't you make some pills to sell?" the purple elf said casually, yawning as she spoke.

Ruan Mumu thought for a moment. She didn't know anything about medicine, so even if she made the pills, no one would dare to buy them. Most importantly, no one would dare to treat her! "Mr. Zi, do you have any other ideas?"

"Ugh, so annoying! They won't let me sleep at night." A childish voice, clearly impatient, rang out; it was the purple elf who spoke.

Ruan Mumu suppressed the urge to laugh, thinking that this purple elf must be a minor, especially childish.

The purple elf's impatient voice rang out again: "Go check the storeroom. There seems to be a lantern there. If it's still there, take it and exchange it for some money. That would be enough for you to live comfortably. I just don't know if it's still there."

When Ruan Mumu heard that it was a horse lantern, she immediately perked up. Such a thing was a rare item that was hard to find in ancient times, and because of its unique shape and practical value, it should be able to fetch a lot of money!

After arriving at the storage room, Ruan Mumu searched for a while and finally found a lantern at the bottom of an old cabinet. She carefully took it out, gently wiped away the dust on the surface, and examined it closely.

Although the lantern looked a bit old, it actually contained kerosene. Ruan Mumu quickly found a lighter and tried to light it. Hey, it actually worked! This thing was much more practical than lanterns or other lighting tools in ancient times.

Peeking under the cabinet again, Ruan Mumu found another bottle containing liquid. She took a closer sniff and detected a pungent odor—it was definitely kerosene. Her family often experienced power outages when she was a child, and they used this kind of kerosene lamp during those times. This smell was indeed the distinctive odor of kerosene.

Thinking of this, Ruan Mumu was overjoyed: "Mr. Zi, thank you!" She happily thanked Mr. Zi, then carried the lantern and kerosene into the cabinet in her room, secretly thinking that she must find a suitable opportunity to go to the county town to sell them for money. After all, this lantern was a rare item, and it might fetch a good price!

After Ruan Mumu finished these tasks, she glanced at the clock on the wall of the room and realized it was almost one o'clock in the morning. So, she quickly ran to the kitchen to fill up the spiritual spring water, hurriedly left the space, returned to her bed, and drifted off to sleep.
