"Xiaoman," Shen Ruyin called out as soon as she saw Zhao Manrou enter with a grim expression.

Zhao Manrou raised her head, gave Shen Ruyin a bitter smile, and indicated that they would talk after class.

Shen Ruyin nodded, and just as she took out her textbook for morning reading, she suddenly felt that the classroom had become much cooler.

One student said, "We didn't turn on the air conditioner, so why did it suddenly get cold?"

"Is the weather about to change?" A student sitting by the window glanced outside, somewhat puzzled. "Isn't the sun out?"

Shen Ruyin noticed that as the students discussed, Zhao Manrou, who was diagonally in front of her, lowered her head further and further, almost to the point of lying on the table.

"Xiaoman," Shen Ruyin said seriously, "Are you feeling unwell?"

"Ah? No, no," Zhao Manrou looked like she was about to cry, but still shook her head at her. "I just forgot to eat breakfast this morning, and my stomach hurts a little."

"Did you oversleep?" Shen Ruyin had no reason to believe her, so she looked down and rummaged through her schoolbag, pulling out two small bread rolls for her.

"Eat quickly, the teacher is coming soon, don't let her see us."

When Zhao Manrou reached out to take the bread roll, Shen Ruyin deliberately pushed it forward, and it just happened to touch her hand.

"Xiaoman, why are your hands so cold?" Shen Ruyin stood up, walked directly to Zhao Manrou's side, and touched Zhao Manrou's forehead with her bracelet-wearing hand.

"Thankfully, it's not a fever."

"Shen Ruyin," the homeroom teacher, who was supervising the morning reading session, came in and immediately noticed her. "Why are you standing next to Zhao Manrou? The morning reading session has already started."

Shen Ruyin didn't go back immediately, but said worriedly, "Teacher, Zhao Manrou isn't feeling well."

"Are you not feeling well?" The homeroom teacher walked over to Zhao Manrou and saw that she looked really bad, as if she had been pulled out of ice water. The skin on her fingertips looked cyanotic. She was a little anxious. "Shen Ruyin, come with me and take Zhao Manrou to the school clinic."

“I’m fine,” Zhao Manrou said, “I…”

“Xiaoman,” Shen Ruyin interrupted her, her face full of worry, “you’re really not feeling well right now. Go to the school clinic first. If everything’s alright, we’ll all be relieved, right?”

Zhao Manrou then got up and followed them outside.

Halfway there, Zhao Manrou took the initiative to admit: "Teacher, I just slept too late last night and couldn't get up this morning. I forgot to eat breakfast, but it's really nothing."

The homeroom teacher insisted, "Let the school doctor take a look at you first."

The school clinic isn't far from the teaching building; it's just a short walk away.

After the school doctor examined Zhao Manrou, he said that she was fine. She was probably just a little cold because she wasn't dressed warmly enough and hadn't eaten breakfast, which caused a slight hypoglycemic reaction. He told her that she would be fine after some rest, and the homeroom teacher was relieved.

After scolding Zhao Manrou a couple of times, telling her to rest earlier in the future, not to stay up late to cultivate immortality, and to maintain her health, the homeroom teacher said, "Shen Ruyin, could you please stay here with Zhao Manrou for a while? I'll go to the cafeteria to buy her some breakfast."

Shen Ruyin agreed and watched the homeroom teacher leave, finally having a chance to take a closer look at Zhao Manrou.

"Xiaoman, why didn't you come to evening self-study last night?"

“Yinyin,” Zhao Manrou said with a mournful face, hugging Shen Ruyin, “I was so scared yesterday.”

Shen Ruyin waited for her to continue.

“Yesterday I left home early, but I was just unlucky and ran into that person burning paper money and displaying red shoes.”

Zhao Manrou shuddered: "I originally thought I would just ignore it and wait for the traffic light to turn green, like before, but I found that I could never wait for the traffic light to turn green."

"The traffic light was on a countdown, but the red light lasted for tens of seconds while the green light only lasted for three seconds."

"Then there was another voice urging me to hurry up and rush over, or I'll be late."

As Zhao Manrou spoke, her hands trembled slightly: "I almost rushed over, but thankfully, I suddenly remembered that the voice sounded familiar, like the little girl's voice from before, so I stepped back."

"Just as I stepped back to the side of the road, a car that was driving recklessly whizzed past me."

"If I had been even a little later, Yinyin, you wouldn't have seen me today."

Zhao Manrou buried her head in Shen Ruyin's shoulder, tears streaming down her face, soon soaking her coat.

“It’s so dangerous,” Shen Ruyin quickly took out the bracelet she had made for Zhao Manrou from her coat pocket. “Put this on.”

Zhao Manrou sobbed, "Is this the bracelet you made yourself?"

“Yes,” Shen Ruyin said as she helped her adjust the bracelet. “The front of this bracelet features a flower design that I followed the pattern on, and the back is a design I found online that is said to ward off evil spirits.”

"If you wear this, bad luck will definitely stay away from you."

Zhao Manrou was touched: "Thank you, Yinyin."

She sniffed: "I heard from my mom that you called her yesterday and said I hadn't arrived at school yet."

"Luckily you called my mom, and luckily my mom came to pick me up."

“When I came to my senses, my mom said she saw me standing on the side of the road as soon as she turned the corner. I just stood there without moving, which scared her half to death.”

"If my mom hadn't pulled me up, I don't know how long I would have stood there."

After listening to her, Shen Ruyin gently patted her back as a gesture of comfort.

Shen Ruyin believed what Zhao Manrou said, but not entirely.

If what she said is true, then it's possible that she was frightened and couldn't sleep at night or get up in the morning.

But none of that could have made her body so cold.

And when she first entered the classroom, almost all the students felt that the weather had suddenly turned cold.

These things can't be done simply by being scared; there must be something else influencing them.

For example, yin energy.

It must be a very heavy yin energy.

Zhao Manrou is definitely hiding something from her.

There is no doubt about it.
