The emperor led Yin Yin in silence the entire way to the Xuan Shi Hall. Yin Yin did not speak either, only looking at the road beneath her feet.

Upon arriving at the Xuan Shi Hall, the emperor changed out of his cloak, wiped his hands, and sat down before asking, "Yinyin, won't you try to persuade me?"

Yin Yin blinked: "I haven't thought of what to say yet."

"Oh?" The emperor said calmly, gesturing for her to sit down. "Just say whatever comes to mind."

Yin Yin was a little worried: "Yin Yin doesn't want to put His Majesty in a difficult position, but Auntie feels sorry for Yin Yin. Yin Yin doesn't know what to do."

The Emperor chuckled lightly: "Consort Shu is your aunt, but she has her own selfish motives and may not truly be on your side."

Yin Yin's heart skipped a beat, and she pretended to be clueless as she looked at the emperor.

The emperor sighed and gave Eunuch Wu a wink.

Eunuch Wu bowed and said, "Miss Yinyin, the root of the problem this time actually lies with Consort Shu."

"Some time ago, the wet nurse by the Sixth Prince's side was careless and caused the Sixth Prince to feel unwell. Consort Shu became overly nervous, so she has been inquiring about the food of the remaining wet nurses every day."

"But some people below took advantage of the Empress's power and did some bad things, and even said some disrespectful things to the Empress."

"Unfortunately, the Fifth Prince found out about this, so..."

The Emperor picked up the conversation and gently patted Yin Yin's back: "When Xiao Wu comes over, I will definitely give him a good talking to and then have him come and apologize to you."

Yinyin quickly refused: "So, in that case, the Fifth Prince was only trying to protect Her Majesty the Empress. Besides..."

"It's settled then," the emperor said, not letting Yinyin refuse any further. "He's a prince, yet he can't tell right from wrong and drags someone like you into this mess."

"If he's not properly taught, will he still think he's doing the right thing?"

Yin Yin deliberately sighed: "If His Majesty wants to teach the Fifth Prince, then so be it. Anyway, when Yin Yin grows up, she won't see the Fifth Prince anymore, so it doesn't matter if the Fifth Prince doesn't like Yin Yin because of this."

Upon hearing this, the emperor said, "I am still here, is this all the courage you have?"

Yinyin nodded and gestured a distance with her little hand: "Yinyin is only this brave around other people."

Then she spread her arms wide: "But in front of His Majesty, Yin Yin has this much courage."

The emperor couldn't help but chuckle: "Everyone else is trembling with fear in front of me, even your grandfather was no exception. You, on the other hand, are the opposite of them."

“Because Yin Yin is different from them,” Yin Yin put her hand down, “His Majesty is good to Yin Yin, so why would Yin Yin be afraid?”

"So you're just a bully at home," the emperor said, gesturing with his chin toward the small table he had prepared for Yin Yin. "Go and paint. I'll see how much you've improved since you came home."

"Yinyin just got home not long ago," Yinyin said, and then went to the small table as instructed.

She had just begun writing when someone came to report that the Empress had brought the Fifth Prince to request an audience.

After the two entered and exchanged greetings, the Empress gently patted the Fifth Prince.

The Fifth Prince looked very reluctant and dawdled as he bowed and apologized to Yin Yin in front of the Emperor.

Yinyin quickly stepped aside, saying, "Your Highness is too kind."

The Fifth Prince, with a stern face, returned to the Empress's side and lowered his head.

The Empress said to the Emperor, "Little Fifth is so innocent and filial. He thought I had been wronged, but he did something wrong and made Yin Yin suffer instead."

"If Xiao Wu is wrong, then I am also at fault."

The Empress and the Fifth Prince bowed their heads voluntarily, which pleased the Emperor. Without hiding anything from Yin Yin, he said directly, "The Fifth Prince is my legitimate son. His actions should set an example for all my sons. Otherwise, how can I trust you?"

With just that one sentence, the Fifth Prince's mood instantly brightened, and he hurriedly expressed his feelings to the Emperor: "Father is right."

After saying that, the Fifth Prince solemnly said to Yin Yin, "Sister Yin Yin, I will never do that again in the future."

Yinyin smiled but didn't say anything more.

The Empress, however, smiled gently and tentatively said to the Emperor, "I really like Yin Yin's personality."

The emperor simply nodded: "Yinyin's temperament is indeed quite good."

When the Empress heard that the Emperor did not continue the conversation, she did not say anything more. Seeing that the Fifth Prince and Yin Yin were getting along quite normally, she took her leave with the Fifth Prince.

As the sun began to set, the emperor served his meal in the Xuan Shi Hall. After Yin Yin finished eating, unusually, he did not accompany her to the Yao Guang Hall, but instead had someone escort her back.

Upon arriving at Yaoguang Palace, Consort Shu came out to greet them, but seeing that only Yin Yin was there, she looked quite disappointed.

Just as Consort Shu was about to speak, the nanny beside her reminded her, "Your Highness, it's cold outside. Why don't you come inside to talk?"

Consort Shu then realized that the people the Emperor had sent to deliver Yin Yin were still there.

Once inside the room, when only her trusted confidantes were present, Consort Shu couldn't wait to speak: "Yinyin, has His Majesty angered your aunt? Your aunt offended His Majesty because she stood up for you, so you must plead for your aunt!"

Stand up for me?

Yinyin tightened her grip on the hand warmer.

She can't take the blame for this.

She glanced at Consort Shu, hesitated for a long time before saying, "But Aunt, His Majesty seems to be unhappy about something else."

“What else could it be?” Consort Shu couldn’t think of anything.

Yinyin glanced at the servants attending to Consort Shu, then lowered her eyes and remained silent.

Consort Shu's heart skipped a beat, and she remembered the Emperor's words before he left.

She grabbed the old woman: "Old woman, you go and interrogate them yourself. What else are they hiding?"

The old woman agreed and went out.

Consort Shu suppressed her panic and asked gently, "Did Yinyin hear anything while she was with His Majesty?"

Yinyin thought for a moment and then recounted what the Empress had said when she arrived.

“Aunt, Her Majesty the Empress said that the Fifth Prince acted this way because he thought she had been wronged, and His Majesty also specifically mentioned the palace servants under your command.”

"Did they...do they offend Her Majesty the Empress in some way, and the Fifth Prince found out?"

With everything made so clear, Consort Shu certainly couldn't say that the Emperor's cold shoulder was because of Yin Yin.

She instructed someone to take Yinyin down to rest, and then turned around and called someone in to give her further instructions.

The palace maids in Yaoguang Palace were interrogated twice in one day, and they were all trembling with fear.

Aside from the young sixth prince, only Yin Yin was able to get some rest in the room.

Lying in bed, Yin Yin suddenly remembered what her uncle had said to her in private before she first entered the palace.

It seems that her uncle understands his aunt better than her grandparents do.
