"My father?"

Yinyin raised her head and looked at the emperor expectantly.

The emperor did not disappoint her, and told her a few small stories about the little wooden sword.

Yin Yin didn't know whether these things were true or if the emperor had embellished them artistically.

After hearing these stories, she hugged the little wooden sword even tighter, but she was even more reluctant to use it.

Upon seeing this, the emperor said, "Didn't Yinyin learn some sword techniques? Show them to me."

Yinyin touched the small wooden sword, got up and walked to the empty space in the middle. She had already taken a stance, but still asked, "Your Majesty, how about I change to another sword?"

"Change it?" the emperor said deliberately. "If we really want to change it, then this one must be returned to me."

"Then I won't," Yin Yin said, gripping the sword tightly and quickly following the moves taught by her family's martial arts master.

Yin Yin was young, and the sword techniques taught by Master Wu were unremarkable, so the emperor originally had no expectations.

But after Yin Yin demonstrated a couple of moves, the emperor suddenly started watching seriously.

After Yin Yin finished demonstrating her moves, the emperor praised her earnestly, "Yin Yin is very talented in martial arts, just like your father."

Yin Yin knew she was very talented, and upon hearing his praise, she immediately put on an expression of pride mixed with surprise.

"Your Majesty, am I really exactly like my father?"

The emperor nodded approvingly: "Although you are young, your movements are all very precise. When it's time to show your sharpness, you never hesitate. You have truly inherited your father's talent in this area perfectly."

Now, Yin Yin's face lit up with a bright smile. She hugged the little wooden sword and trotted back to the emperor's side, swinging her legs happily.

Her unruly behavior seemed to affect the emperor's mood, making him feel cheerful as well.

The emperor played with her for a while longer, and then told her a few stories about his past with Yin Yin's father, satisfying his desire to confide in her. Only then did he decide to take her to Yaoguang Palace.

Before they could even set off, Eunuch Wu returned. He bowed to the emperor and then quietly stood behind him.

On the way to Yaoguang Palace with the emperor, Yinyin witnessed how many tricks the concubines of the harem had up their sleeves.

Pretending to bump into the emperor on the road is the most common thing. Hiding behind the flowers, vaguely revealing a bit of your figure, and then turning around unintentionally, the person who is more beautiful than the flowers is the best.

Unfortunately, the emperor was as hard-hearted as iron and remained unmoved by these beauties of all shapes and sizes.

When they arrived outside Yaoguang Palace, they saw Consort Shu coming out early to greet them, eagerly waiting outside the palace.

Seeing the emperor leading Yin Yin slowly along, Consort Shu smiled brightly.

"His Majesty."

The emperor reached out to help her up, asking, "Why is my beloved concubine standing outside the palace?"

"I thought it was time for dinner, and Your Majesty was going to have someone bring Yin Yin back," Consort Shu said, lowering her head shyly. "I didn't expect Your Majesty to bring Yin Yin here personally. We can be said to be of one mind."

Hearing this, Yinyin quickly looked at the road ahead.

Why not just say you were standing outside waiting for the emperor? Why use her as a pawn, all for that later line about being of one mind?

Yinyin sighed inwardly. The emperor's heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea; who can understand his heart?

Oh no.

Yin Yin thought that, according to the emperor himself, her father must be telepathically connected with him.

Thinking about this, Yin Yin's thoughts started to wander again.

If she hadn't known that the emperor was definitely straight and had no feelings for her father or any issues with her mother, she would have thought the wrong thing.

Once inside Yaoguang Palace, Consort Shu asked Yin Yin a few questions, but most of her attention was still focused on the Emperor.

As expected, the emperor stayed in the evening, just as Consort Shu had wished.

The next morning, Yinyin went to Consort Shu's palace and heard a palace maid reporting to Consort Shu.

“Yesterday, all the people around the First Prince were beaten to death, and the First Prince was ordered to personally witness the execution. He developed a fever that night.”

"However, the new servants who went to serve the Crown Prince were all personally selected by Eunuch Wu. The imperial physician was immediately summoned, and the fever subsided in no time."

"Her Majesty the Empress originally planned to go and take a look early in the morning, but the Shanggong Bureau had something to report to, and I heard that she hasn't gone there yet."

Consort Shu sneered: "Our Empress always pretends to be virtuous, but if she really wanted to go see the First Prince, she could easily ask the people in the Palace Affairs Bureau to wait. What could possibly prevent her from leaving?"

"To put it bluntly, he just doesn't want to go from the bottom of his heart. It's a pity that the eldest prince treats her like his own mother, but he never thought that he might just be someone who is disliked."

The old nanny next to her saw Yin Yin's figure, coughed, and reminded her, "Your Highness, Miss Yin Yin has arrived."

Consort Shu came to her senses and put on a gentle expression.

"Yinyin's here, are you hungry?"

"Someone, quickly bring the snacks I left for Yin Yin."

Consort Shu did not continue talking about what had just happened, unaware that Yin Yin had good hearing, and did not take it to heart at all.

Yinyin naturally wouldn't speak up, but instead obediently sat down to the side and ate.

Seeing Yinyin eating with a small spoon, Consort Shu felt a pang of envy.

"Yinyin is too lonely as a junior."

Upon hearing this, the nanny quickly replied, "Soon, soon. With Miss Yinyin here, His Majesty will be visiting our Yaoguang Palace more often these days."

Consort Shu covered her lower abdomen and sighed softly, "I hope so."

After saying that, Consort Shu couldn't help but say, "More than three years have passed, why don't I have this good fortune?"

Seeing that she was a little discouraged, the nanny quickly tried to comfort her.

Looking up, she saw Yinyin enjoying her food and said, "Your Highness didn't eat much this morning either, why don't you join Miss Yinyin and have some more?"

After hearing this, Consort Shu looked in that direction for a while and felt a little hungry. So she sat down with Yin Yin and ordered a small bowl of porridge to be served.

After finishing this bowl of porridge, and adding a few side dishes, it's easy to eat much more than usual.

Consort Shu felt a bit bloated and decided to go out for a walk to digest her food, naturally leaving Yin Yin behind.

Yin Yin didn't really want to go out. After all, she had encountered too many people when she came with the Emperor yesterday, and she was afraid that if she went out with Consort Shu today, she would also run into a few concubines from time to time.

But since Consort Shu had already spoken, she couldn't refuse and had no choice but to go with Consort Shu.

After tidying up a bit, the group left Yaoguang Hall.

Consort Shu's original plan was to walk from the Imperial Garden to Taiye Pond at the back, enjoy the spring scenery outside, and then slowly return.

I don't know if Yin Yin has a knack for jinxing things, or if she really does have foresight.

As soon as they reached the Imperial Garden, they heard the sound of a zither coming from behind a pavilion hidden among the flowers.
