While Old Master Zhan was cleaning up the servants, Yin Yin and Yu Miaoqi left the mansion with Zhan Zheng.

The reasons for this trip are twofold: first, to meet Zhan Zheng's future wife, Miss Wang; and second, to visit Zhan Zheng's residence. If there's still free time after these two commitments, then they can consider whether to go out and have some fun.

Since they were going to visit the Wang family, they naturally sent out invitations in advance and prepared gifts.

The elders spoke gently and kindly, while Yin Yin sat obediently to the side, giving her plenty of time to observe her future sister-in-law.

Miss Wang may only be considered pretty in terms of appearance, but she is very well-mannered, has a calm temperament, and her brows suggest that she is a resilient and decisive young woman.

Noticing Yinyin secretly observing her, Miss Wang looked up and met her eyes, smiling slightly.

Yinyin blinked and returned her a smile.

Yu Miaoqi and Madam Wang, who were speaking at the head of the table, both showed satisfied expressions upon seeing the interaction between the two.

After the group had lunch together, the meeting came to a successful end. Yinyin and the others left the Wang family and got back into their carriages.

After getting into the car, Yu Miaoqi said to Zhan Zheng, "Miss Wang is a good girl. Now that you are married to her, you must live a good life with her."

In front of his mother, Zhan Zheng readily agreed.

Yinyin had no intention of speaking about this. Regardless of her impression of Miss Wang, it was a big taboo for a sister-in-law to make random comments about her sister-in-law.

After a while, the carriage arrived at Zhan Zheng's residence. Yin Yin and Yu Miaoqi got off the carriage and felt somewhat dazed.

"Brother, why did you build your house in the capital just like the one in Yingzhou? If I didn't know the location was wrong, I would have thought I had come home."

“I specifically asked people to build it this way,” Zhan Zheng said. “Firstly, because it’s inconvenient to go back when I’m away from home, and I sometimes miss home. Secondly, I thought that you would come to the capital sooner or later, and if you lived in a familiar environment, you would avoid the process of adapting. So I asked people to slowly modify it according to my memory.”

Tears welled up in Yu Miaoqi's eyes as she held Zhan Zheng's hand, choking back sobs and unable to speak.

Yinyin quickly said, "Then you must show us around properly, big brother. I want to keep my eyes wide open and take a good look at how this house is different from ours."

Zhan Zheng was also a little afraid of Yu Miaoqi's tears, so he immediately agreed and led the two of them to continue walking inside.

Zhan Zheng put a lot of thought into this courtyard. Apart from the fact that it was a bit small in area, the courtyard and various decorations inside were designed to be similar to those in Yingzhou.

Next to the main courtyard is Youhuang Pavilion, where Yinyin lives, and after turning through the small garden, you'll find the courtyard where Zhanzheng lives.

Yinyin spent a long time looking around Youhuang Pavilion before saying, "Big brother, you've renovated this place so well, I don't want to leave."

“That’s easy,” Zhan Zheng said, pleased to see her like it. “When we have time in the future, we can come back and stay more often.”

“That’s a deal,” Yin Yin said, looking at Yu Miaoqi. “Mother must come too.”

"I'll do whatever you say," Yu Miaoqi said. Surrounded by familiar surroundings and her children, she felt much more relaxed than at the Zhan residence. She wandered around the house, feeling a pang of reluctance to leave.

Zhan Zheng saw through her thoughts and suggested, "Why don't we stay here tonight? It'll save us the trouble of traveling back and forth."

Yu Miaoqi hesitated for a moment: "But if we go back, we still have to go to the main courtyard."

“What’s the harm in not going there for a day?” Zhan Zheng said. “Anyway, the government office over there is always busy. If we don’t go back, we might even be able to give them a push.”

Yinyin laughed: "Big brother is right. The old master is getting old after all, and he is still quite lenient with some people. If we stay in the mansion here for a day, maybe we can help him make up his mind sooner."

This time, the old master dealt a heavy blow to most of the servants, but he dragged his feet on some of the more prominent old servants, and he turned a deaf ear to some of the masters who were undermining the family.

Seeing that he was about to hand over such a family to Yu Miaoqi, Yinyin and Zhanzheng were not very satisfied.

Staying away from home for a day now shows that they have another way out besides the Zhan residence.

Although this would certainly displease Old Master Zhan, if he wanted to pass the family business to Zhan Zheng, he would have to consider his attitude. In other words, Zhan Zheng had Old Master Zhan completely under his thumb.

Since they both said so, Yu Miaoqi, who had originally wanted to play it safe, finally nodded: "Then send someone back to tell them that we'll stay here tonight."

"Okay!" Zhan Zheng agreed even faster than Yin Yin. To prevent Yu Miaoqi from going back on her word, he immediately arranged for someone to leave the mansion to deliver the message.

This time, Yin Yin didn't pester Yu Miao Qi to stay with her. Instead, she stayed at Youhuang Pavilion and slept just as well as she had in Yingzhou.

The next day, after lunch, it was time to head to the Zhan residence, but both Yin Yin and Yu Miaoqi seemed reluctant to go out.

Yu Miaoqi sat for a while before saying, "Why don't we take advantage of the early hour and go to the jewelry stores in the capital? Back when we were in Yingzhou, we should have bought you some jewelry by now."

Seeing that Yinyin still wanted to refuse, she added, "Yingzhou prefers simplicity and naturalness, while the capital loves luxury and exquisiteness. These popular tastes are quite different."

Having said all that, Yin Yin had no choice but to agree. After all, Zhan Zheng and Miss Wang's wedding was just around the corner, and there would be many banquets in the winter. If she couldn't adapt to local customs in the capital and dressed the same as in Yingzhou, people who didn't know any better would gossip behind her back.

The mother and daughter made up their minds and did not delay any longer. They ordered the carriage to be prepared and set off.

There are many time-honored silver shops in Beijing, as well as many new and ingenious ones. The mother and daughter picked out some that suited their tastes and bought them before sitting down in a well-known teahouse to rest and wait for Zhan Zheng to finish his shift so they could go to Zhan's residence together.

The mother and daughter were enjoying tea and snacks in the private room when they suddenly heard a commotion below.

"it is good!"

Yu Miaoqi frowned and instructed Hongfu, "Go and see what's going on."

Hongfu responded and went out, returning shortly afterward: "They said we arrived at the perfect time. There was a literary gathering of some noble sons in the main hall, and the cheers just now were because of a young master who wrote a fine poem."

"A good poem?" Yin Yin rested her chin on her hand, fiddling with the lid of her teacup with a hint of boredom. "Do you know what it is?"

"I didn't see the whole text, but I heard it was a poem about chrysanthemums, and there's a line in it: 'I'd rather die embracing fragrance on the branch than be blown away by the north wind.'"

“It is indeed a fine poem,” Yu Miaoqi said, savoring it carefully. “A man who can write such a poem must be a gentleman of great integrity.”

Whether he had integrity or not, Yin Yin didn't know, but he was definitely a plagiarist.
