The teacher left quickly after class.

The other students chatted in small groups as they walked.

Chu Yun packed up her textbooks and got up to leave the classroom.

As soon as she stepped across the classroom threshold, she heard a chorus of exclamations from downstairs.

She took a few steps forward to the railing and looked down.

It was the end of get out of class time, and students filed out of the teaching building, crowding the streets.

Suddenly, a dark figure appeared in the crowd, rushing around without looking where it was going, and bumped into quite a few students.

That person had exceptional physical abilities; he moved so fast, like a ghost, that almost no one could see his face clearly.

Wherever it went, everyone avoided it, forcibly carving a path through it.

In just a few breaths, the dark figure weaved through the crowd and headed straight for the teaching building.

Chu Yun leaned on the railing and watched as the dark figure leaped up, climbed the wall, and quickly ascended.

In just a few leaps, he reached the third floor, his agility astonishing.

What's even more terrifying is that he actually rushed straight towards the ninth floor where Chu Yun was.

Chu Yun's pupils contracted, and she retreated slightly.

She had only taken two steps back when she saw a hand gripping the railing in front of her.

In an instant, the dark figure landed on the ground.

Upon suddenly recognizing the person's face, Chu Yun breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, a surge of anger rose within her.

"Han Cheng'an, what are you doing?"

It turned out that the crazed black figure was actually Han Cheng'an.

Han Cheng'an seemed not to hear Chu Yun's words, and just stared intently at Chu Yun.

Detectors are located near the teaching building to prevent spacecraft from flying and disrupting the teaching order.

Han Cheng'an had no choice but to run to see Chu Yun.

After sprinting and climbing walls, the intense physical exertion left Han Cheng'an looking disheveled—his eyes were red, his lips were pale, and veins were bulging on his neck.

He was panting heavily, his pain and repression reaching their peak the moment he saw Chu Yun.

Her legs moved forward uncontrollably, and Han Cheng'an grabbed Chu Yun's arm, anxiously asking, "Are you getting engaged to Pei Shaojin?"

It was obvious to everyone that Han Cheng'an had lost control of his emotions, and Chu Yun was no exception.

Chu Yun instinctively knew she shouldn't upset Han Cheng'an, but she thought that answering just one question wouldn't break him, so she whispered, "Yes."

Han Cheng'an trembled involuntarily upon hearing this word.

It turned out to be true!

Before meeting Chu Yun, Han Cheng'an could still deceive himself, comforting himself that perhaps the engagement was just a means for Pei Shaojin to retaliate, to provoke him and Gu Fenglin, and to assert his dominance.

But now that he's heard Chu Yun say this with his own ears, how can he still keep up the lie?

She's really getting engaged to Pei Shaojin; he has no chance anymore.

"Why? What's so good about Pei Shaojin? Why did you get engaged to him?" Han Cheng'an asked painfully, tightening his grip on Chu Yun's hand.

Chu Yun looked completely bewildered. What was Han Cheng'an doing?

She tried to pull her hand away, but found that she couldn't break free from Han Cheng'an's grasp.

The anger she had just suppressed surged up again, and Chu Yun raised her voice: "Of course it's because I like him!"

"Otherwise, do you think I'm with him for wealth and status, just like everyone else?"

"What gives you the right to question me like that?"

Chu Yun has heard a lot of gossip these past few days.

Hearing Han Cheng'an say this so suddenly, she thought that he, like those nobles, believed that she was not worthy of marrying Pei Shaojin. Feeling stifled, she spoke with a sharp edge instead of her usual gentleness.

Upon hearing this, Han Cheng'an froze. Looking at Chu Yun's angry eyes, his almost completely burned-out rationality recovered slightly, and he suddenly released Chu Yun's hand.

“I never thought that way.” His voice was filled with bitterness.

Freed from her restraints, Chu Yun quickly withdrew her hand, took a few steps back, and looked at Han Cheng'an with a hurt expression.

"I thought we were friends."

friend!

Han Cheng'an couldn't help but laugh.

He's a friend, but I like Pei Shaojin!

Who wants to be friends with this damn thing?!

"I don't want to be friends with you, Xie Chuyun. Aren't you always been smart? Can't you guess that I like you?" Han Chengan suddenly said.

Chu Yun was so shocked that she stood there, her eyes wide open.

Han Cheng'an's gaze towards her was incredibly complex, containing pain, numbness, and panic.

Like a dry well, the water has dried up, and vines grow from the bottom of the well. If Chu Yun gets even half a step closer, the vines will entangle her and drag her to the bottom of the well to her death.

That was Han Cheng'an's accumulated, numbing despair.

Han Cheng'an's gaze shocked Chu Yun, but what shocked her even more were his words.

What does it mean that he likes her?

Chu Yun asked incredulously, "You like me?"

"How could that be?" The next second, Chu Yun denied it herself.

She simply didn't believe that Han Cheng'an liked her.

Han Cheng'an closed his eyes. He was such a failure.

For so long, Chu Yun didn't even know that he liked her.

"Yes, is it surprising? I like you!" Han Chengan replied.

"But you like Pei Shaojin, even though we met first."

"Now you want to marry him? How can I not go crazy?"

Chu Yun frowned, her expression grim. This matter was beyond her comprehension, and she needed time to process it.

"Chu Yun, I'm not bad either. Can you please stop liking Pei Shaojin?"

"Will you be with me?"

"Even if you don't like me now, it's okay. I will always be good to you until you fall in love with me."

Han Cheng'an had gone a bit mad, and his words left Chu Yun both amused and exasperated.

Chu Yun glanced at the classmates watching the commotion beside her, her eyes darkening slightly.

"Han Cheng'an, listen carefully. I have always considered you a friend. I have never had any other thoughts. I didn't before, I don't now, and I will never have any in the future."

"When you said you wanted me to be your girlfriend, I just thought you were a spoiled rich kid who had never been rejected before, so you wouldn't let go of me."

"After spending more time with you, you never mentioned this matter again, so I never thought about it in that way. If I did anything that caused you to misunderstand, I apologize to you."

"But I still want to tell you that I am not an object, and you have no right to tell me who to leave or who to be with."

"If I decide to be with someone, it will be because I like him, not because of anything else."

"Please respect me, respect yourself, and respect the brotherhood between you and Shaojin."

"I will pretend I didn't hear anything you said today. You can leave now."

Chu Yun's words were merciless, and Han Cheng'an's face turned even more ashen upon hearing them.

His eyes were red and filled with tears. "Do you hate me that much? Are you so cruel to me?"

Chu Yun said helplessly, "It's not that I'm being cruel to you, but hesitation will only lead to trouble. I've already made up my mind about Shao Jin, and giving you hope again would be cruel to you."

"Besides, you and Shaojin are good friends. Have you ever thought about how embarrassing it would be for Shaojin and me if what you said today got out?"

Han Cheng'an spoke without regard for those around him; many students in the hallway heard him say that he liked Chu Yun.

Although the students didn't dare to get close because of Han Cheng'an, they already knew what they needed to know.

Whether it was to make Han Cheng'an give up or to silence those with ulterior motives, Chu Yun could not be soft-hearted and could not give others a handle to use against her.
