As soon as Lin Jingyi left the inn, she remembered that it was still quite a distance from the area where the Demonic Sect was located, and she didn't want to walk all the way up.

So they returned to the inn to look for the waiter.

"Waiter, is there a horse market nearby?" Lin Jingyi walked to the front desk and asked the waiter.

Without hesitation, the waiter replied, "No, there's no horse market in our small town."

The waiter thought for a moment and then said, "I remember there's a family in the north of the city who owns two horses. You can go there and ask them."

"Thank you very much, waiter." Lin Jingyi said, taking out some loose silver from his pocket and giving it to the waiter to express his gratitude.

After that, they went out and, following the direction the waiter pointed, found the family that had horses. The family hadn't originally planned to sell the horses, but Lin Jingyi offered a lot, so they sold them to him.

Because this was just a remote town, the horses Lin Jingyi bought weren't very good, but fortunately, the place she was going to wasn't far away.

They rode their horses slowly towards the holy land of the Demonic Cult.

When they got tired, they would stop and rest; when they got hungry, they would eat some dry rations or hunt and roast some game.

One evening, as darkness fell and dark clouds loomed overhead.

Lin Jingyi then thought of taking a detour to a nearby village to find a place to rest for the night. On the path leading into the village, Lin Jingyi heard the robbery lines that he often heard on TV.

"I opened this road and planted this tree. If you want to live from now on, I will leave money to buy the road."

Lin Jingyi was riding on horseback when four burly men suddenly appeared on the path in front of him, each holding a large knife in both hands.

From left to right, the first robber looks tall and imposing, the second is thin and short, the third is tall and fat with a stubble beard, and the fourth is one-eyed.

The horse was startled by the sudden appearance of the person, and Lin Jingyi tightened the reins to steady the horse.

"Four people? A robbery?" Lin Jingyi asked, bewildered, as this was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

The four robbers seemed to be stumped by Lin Jingyi's question.

Is this kid some naive young master from some unknown family? Asking such a stupid question.

The four robbers exchanged a knowing smile. On their first robbery attempt, they'd encountered such a fool; this kid seemed easy to fool.

The first robber said sternly, "That's right, this hill belongs to the four of us brothers. If you know what's good for you, hand over your valuables."

"Yes, hand it over!"

"The horse stays too!"

"Your clothes look like they're made of nice material, take them off!"

The other robbers chimed in.

Lin Jingyi said with an innocent expression:

"I have no money. The horse is for my journey; what will I do if I give it to you? What will I wear if I lose my clothes?"

"I don't care what you do, I'm just asking you, do you want your life or your money and your horse?" shouted the unshaven robber standing in the middle.

Lin Jingyi climbed down from his horse, his face filled with fear, and said ingratiatingly to the bandits:

"Brothers, this is all the wealth I have. I'll give it all to you. Taking off my clothes would be unseemly. Please leave the horse for me to travel on, okay?"

As Lin Jingyi spoke, he took out a money pouch from his pocket, poured out a few taels of silver from it into his hand, and showed it to the robbers.

The short, thin robber quickly took the silver from Lin Jingyi's hand, counted it, and said to Lin Jingyi, "No way!"

Seeing the robbers' insatiable greed, Lin Jingyi decided not to play along anymore.

The smile vanished from her face. She straightened up, glanced at the sword at her waist, then realized these bandits didn't need swords. She spoke again:

"Do you gentlemen really not want to let me go?"

“Hand over the goods, and we won’t make things difficult for you,” said one of the shorter-looking robbers.

"Then don't blame me for being rude."

After Lin Jingyi finished speaking, he channeled his inner energy into his palm and made a few gestures. The powerful inner energy caused leaves to fall from the trees next to him.

She used her internal force to break a wooden stick, and holding the stick, she headed towards the robbers.

The robbers only knew how to scare passersby in these remote mountain valleys; they had no real skills. They were surprised to see Lin Jingyi's actions.

The four realized they had kicked a hornet's nest.

The four robbers quickly dropped their knives and knelt down to beg for mercy from Lin Jingyi.

"Great hero, spare our lives! We were blind to your greatness, please spare us!"

Beg for mercy? Too late.

Ignoring the four men's pleas for mercy, Lin Jingyi swung the wooden stick at them.

Lin Jingyi specifically targeted their softest spots, which were painful but left no obvious marks.

The four of them wailed and rolled around in a heap.

Lin Jingyi fought for a while, then stopped and took back the silver from the robber.

Standing to the side, looking at the robbers lying on the ground, he asked, "You four, with your hands and feet intact, why did you become robbers? Wouldn't it have been better to just farm properly?"

Lin Jingyi saw that the four people initially had no intention of killing her, which is why she didn't kill them, but she still had to teach them a lesson.

The short, thin robber, enduring the pain and wearing a bitter expression, replied to Lin Jingyi:

“Great hero, you may not know this, but we four brothers were originally villagers from nearby villages. Although the four of us are very strong, we have limited land, and the grain we grow is not enough for us to eat. The government also takes some of it away.”

“We four brothers were starving and cold, so we had no choice but to become robbers.”

"Do you intend to harm anyone?" Lin Jingyi asked calmly.

The short, thin robber shook his head: "No, sir, you were the first person we robbed, and before we even succeeded... we..."

The short, thin robber seemed unable to continue speaking; it was somewhat humiliating that four people had been beaten by a seemingly weak person.

Lin Jingyi understood. It turned out they had run into her on their first robbery attempt; they were just unlucky.

"In that case, you are not allowed to commit robbery again. Sometimes you may be robbing people's life-saving money."

The robbers didn't seem like wicked people. When they saw her demonstrate her martial arts skills, they were so frightened that they dropped their weapons on the ground and knelt down to beg for mercy.

They had no other choice but to take this step.

"Yes, yes, thank you for sparing our lives, great hero. We will definitely turn over a new leaf and become good people."

The four robbers thanked them repeatedly. After this experience, they realized they weren't cut out for robbery.

"Since you have truly repented, you may leave now. It's about to rain."

Lin Jingyi looked up at the sky and said calmly to the four of them.

The four men exchanged glances, then knelt before Lin Jingyi and said in unison, "Great hero, may we follow you?"

Lin Jingyi shook his head, mounted his horse, and said to the four people, "My journey is fraught with danger, so it is inconvenient for me to take you with me. Take care of yourselves."

After saying that, Lin Jingyi squeezed his legs together and rode his horse toward the village.

The four robbers stood up and looked at each other, exchanging knowing glances. Then, the one-eyed robber shouted in a shrill voice towards Lin Jingyi:

"Are you heading to the village ahead, sir? We would be happy to offer you lodging for the night."

Upon hearing this, Lin Jingyi pulled on the reins, turned around, and said to the four people, "Aren't you going to hurry up and follow?"

Upon hearing this, the four happily picked up the weapons from the ground and followed Lin Jingyi.

Just as Lin Jingyi arrived at the home of the four robbers, a light rain began to fall.

The mountainside was covered with thick fog; it seemed the rain wouldn't stop anytime soon.

The four houses were located at the northernmost part of the village, about 500 meters away from the village center, according to Lin Jingyi's estimation.

Lin Jingyi sat on the wooden chair they had made themselves, looking at her four brothers who were standing obediently in front of her, and helplessly rubbed her forehead.
