Sato Toyohiro was ordered to search for the group that attacked the grain transport convoy. When he learned that there were only nineteen of them, the Japanese soldier was immediately relieved. Nineteen men carrying flour up a mountain path—it would be outrageous if he couldn't handle that!

They're carrying flour, so there's no need to search! Just follow the flour that's fallen on the road! With so many of them, guns and cannons, catching up and wiping out those nineteen lowly people in one fell swoop is a piece of cake!

"Hurry up! Those lowly people are just ahead! With so much flour, they can't get far!" Sato Toyohiro ordered, pointing to the mountain road at the mouth of the gourd.

The Japanese soldiers quickened their pace, chasing after Huluzui. This was perhaps the easiest tracking mission they had ever carried out. Driving a car on dirt roads and carrying flour along mountain trails—did these lowly people have no common sense at all?

"Shhhhhhh!"

"Boom boom boom!"

"Ta-ta-ta-ta!"

Just as they entered the gourd mouth, a rain of arrows poured down from the sky, followed by grenades thrown from grenade launchers exploding all around them, and even machine guns were used!

In a flash, the Japanese soldiers scattered and sought cover. Sato Toyohiro hid behind a large rock and looked out. He soon discovered that the gunshots were coming from the nearby mountain!

"Baka! They're on the mountain! Counterattack!" Sato Toyohiro quickly ordered a counterattack. He was shocked to have lost a third of his soldiers in that one attack!

One can't help but wonder if the other side really only has nineteen people.

"Bang bang bang bang!"

"Ta-ta-ta-ta!"

"Shhhhhhh!"

In the blink of an eye, fierce gunfire erupted from the small gourd-shaped mound. Bullets struck the rocks, sending stone chips and sparks flying everywhere! The Japanese soldiers, who were positioned on higher ground and had taken cover less, fell to the ground one after another, shot or hit by arrows, which filled Sato Toyohiro with rage!

On their side, they were attacking uphill, and the enemy, with the cover of mountains and forests, couldn't see the specific situation. They could only guess the approximate location based on the weapons they fired, and hitting anyone was entirely a matter of luck! It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that they were sitting ducks for the enemy!

"Boom boom boom!"

Another round of grenade explosions occurred, and several Japanese soldiers hiding behind rocks were hit and fell to the ground. Sato Toyohiro, who was not far away, could only frown as he watched.

This couldn't go on; his few dozen men wouldn't last long before they all perished here. Turning his head to look at the hillside behind him, Sato Toyohiro gritted his teeth and made a decision.

"Retreat! Retreat from the mouth of the valley!" Sato Toyohiro ordered.

That's right, he wanted to climb the hillside and fight the enemy face to face, so that the enemy would be in the dark and he would be in the light and wouldn't be able to hurt the enemy at all!

The Japanese soldiers came quickly and left even faster. In the blink of an eye, the valley entrance was empty, leaving behind a pile of corpses scattered in the wind!

After retreating from the valley entrance, they were left with only twenty-odd people. In just that short time of going in and out, they had lost more than half of their men! And the enemy only had nineteen people!

With such combat power, Yamamoto Taikawa's death was not in vain!

"Report! Lieutenant Colonel Nagano is personally leading two hundred soldiers and is on his way. They are expected to arrive in about twenty minutes," the soldier reported.

"Yosh! Charge up from this side and hold them off until Lieutenant Colonel Nagano arrives, then it's their death day!" Sato Toyohiro ordered.

"Yes, sir!" the soldiers replied and rushed up the mountain.

Soon, a group of Japanese soldiers bypassed the thorny bushes and rushed up the hillside, guns raised and crouching low as they moved towards the valley entrance. The enemy had been lying in ambush on the other side of the valley; they wanted to launch a surprise attack! If they could eliminate the enemy before the lieutenant colonel arrived, he was sure to earn the lieutenant colonel's high regard!

They quickly entered the thicket of bushes where the other party was located, and through the gaps in the branches and leaves, they could already see the hastily built stone wall!

"Huh? What about people?"

Soon the group arrived at the stone wall, only to find it completely empty except for a patch of spent shell casings! The imagined enemy had vanished without a trace!

What's going on? They took advantage and ran! How could they possibly wipe out the entire transport convoy and steal the grain?

"That's flour!" Just as the Japanese soldiers were stunned, one of them pointed to a leaf on a woman's leg and said.

A few leaves were covered with white powder, and a winding path led through the branches and leaves to the inside of the gourd's mouth.

"Pursue them! We can't let them get away!" Sato Toyohiro's eyes lit up and he immediately gave the order. He then grabbed his pistol and chased after them along the path. The lieutenant colonel was almost there; if he lost them again, he'd be incredibly embarrassed! A good scolding was definitely in order!

Sure enough, as they followed the narrow path, they frequently spotted flour stuck to the branches and leaves along the way! It seemed this group had just been carrying sacks of flour and, having discovered their trail, hadn't had time to wash up. Running like that, it was perfectly normal for the leaves to brush against them and pick up flour! This provided them with a perfect clue for their pursuit!

"Hurry! They can't have gone far!" Sato Toyohiro was brimming with confidence. As long as he had this flour, finding the group would be a piece of cake!

Soon, the Japanese soldiers followed the narrow path into the interior of Huluzui, and after crossing a hill, the trees became much sparser. Large rocks protruded from the ground, making the area appear particularly desolate!

"Keep chasing! Hurry!" There are no bushes or trees to cover us, so it's obvious there's no one here. Finding them is the most important thing.

The Japanese soldiers quickly traversed the desolate mountains along the narrow mountain path, and to speed up their pace, everyone unconsciously slung their guns over their shoulders, showing no sign of vigilance whatsoever!

"Shhhhhhh!"

Just then, a hail of arrows rained down, covering the area. Arrows that shot down like rockets from the sky immediately took the lives of several Japanese soldiers, and more than a dozen wounded by arrows lay on the ground groaning in pain!

"What?!...Take cover!" Sato Toyohiro couldn't believe his eyes. There was no one here, so where did this rain of arrows come from? How many people would have to fire so many arrows at once? Wasn't it agreed that there would only be nineteen people?

"There it is! It's that wooden tube!" a Japanese soldier said, pointing to a smoking wooden tube on a rock in the distance.

"Huh?..." Sato Toyohiro stared at it intently, a huge question mark appearing in his mind. A wooden tube can shoot arrows? Has it come to life?

He had already discovered this wooden barrel before. Is it strange that there's a rotten wooden barrel used by Chinese people to hold water in the mountains? It makes perfect sense, doesn't it? But why can it shoot out arrows that emit smoke?

However, he soon witnessed this problem firsthand! Black smoke billowed from another wooden tube not far away, and in the blink of an eye, a swarm of arrows resembling poisonous bees flew out of the hive and shot towards them!

"Shhhhhhh!"

Several wounded Japanese soldiers were hit by arrows again, but this time they were not so lucky. The ones who were hit by arrows immediately fell to the ground and met Amaterasu!
