Rebirth to Save Myself

Chapter 51 Yearning

Before we knew it, it was already the crucial time of the final year of junior high school, and everyone was immersed in intense review. Although Su Xia had been recommended to the top high school in the province, she chose to finish all three years of junior high school before going there. The top high school agreed with her idea, as they were afraid that forcing her to study too hard would be counterproductive.

For the next three years, Su Xia completely dominated these students, consistently outscoring them by at least thirty points in every exam, big or small. Sometimes, Su Xia even went easy on them, not giving them perfect scores, but even so, they still couldn't catch up. At the start of the third year of junior high, the teachers reorganized the classes, putting all the high-achieving students into an elite class, while those who were just coasting along were placed in another class.

Chen Yuan was happy to become Su Xia's deskmate again, but she soon regretted it because Su Xia kept pushing her to study, giving her extra homework in addition to the teacher's assignments. Chen Wenwei and Lin Mohan sat in front of them, forming a four-person group again in elementary school, studying together.

"Master Su Xia, how do I solve this problem? I've used this formula but I still can't figure it out." Lin Mohan turned around naturally and handed the problem to Su Xia.

Su Xia looked at it, wrote down another formula with a pen, and said, "This is the right one."

Lin Mohan glanced at the two formulas and realized that he had confused them, so he quickly went back to his desk to solve the problem.

Su Xia is currently firmly in first place, while Chen Yuan and Chen Wenwei are either second or third, their positions fluctuating. Lin Mohan is close behind, vying for fourth and fifth place with Zhou Xiaojie; the others can't catch up. Chen Jianguo, having bought a house in the provincial capital, is now lobbying for Chen Yuan to attend school there.

Chen Chunqi sighed, realizing that if it weren't for Su Xia, they definitely wouldn't have wanted to attend high school in the provincial capital. In their eyes, the city's No. 1 High School was the best. Chen Jianguo had even bought and renovated a house, waiting for Chen Yuan to finish her high school entrance exam so the whole family could move to the city. But Su Xia took them from the city to the province, and Chen Jianguo's business grew bigger and bigger, no longer limited to the province, but spanning several provinces.

So Chen Jianguo heard from the principal that Su Xia had been recommended to the Provincial No. 1 High School, but she was still hesitating. The principal, of course, hoped Su Xia would go to the Provincial No. 1 High School. Therefore, he contacted Chen Jianguo, hoping he could persuade Su Xia to choose the Provincial No. 1 High School. Chen Jianguo thought for a moment and roughly understood Su Xia's thoughts and considerations, so he quickly ran back to talk to her in person.

Su Xia always felt she hadn't been able to bring anything to the Chen family and felt indebted to them, so she wanted to stay at the No. 1 High School to help Chen Yuan. But what she didn't know was that because of her, Chen Jianguo saw the youthful drive in her, which emboldened him to pursue his career and build the family fortune he has today.

If their initial kindness towards Su Xia stemmed from sympathy for her plight, they now genuinely consider her family. Outsiders, including Su Xia's grandmother, father, and mother, feel they're raising a daughter for nothing, because they don't understand Su Xia. In Chen Jianguo and Chen Chunqi's eyes, Su Xia is absolutely not ungrateful. The Chen family's current success is also due to Su Xia's contributions.

If Su Xia considered herself a member of the Su family, she could have easily told her parents about these money-making methods, which would have surely helped them escape their current poverty. But she didn't. Instead, she told Chen Jianguo about them, and when Chen Jianguo raised questions, Su Xia simply smiled and remained silent.

After a long period of hard work, Chen Jianguo finally managed to get the teachers at the provincial high school to agree to his demands. Because Chen Jianguo owned property in the provincial capital, he could transfer his household registration there, meaning Chen Yuan could become a resident of the provincial capital. Furthermore, with Chen Yuan's grades consistently improving under Su Xia's tutoring, the teachers agreed to admit her if she scored 400 points or higher in the three main subjects and 85 points or higher in the minor subjects on the high school entrance exam.

After Su Xia found out, she focused on tutoring Chen Yuan in her weaker areas, specifically science. Chen Yuan was so exhausted from doing so many problems that she almost threw up, but no one around her was on her side; they all told her to study hard with Su Xia.

Chen Wenwei didn't side with Chen Yuan either. When she confided in him, he advised her that she should use that time to study hard and try to get a higher score on the high school entrance exam, so that she wouldn't be assigned to a regular class at the provincial top high school. Based on Su Xia's grades, she would definitely be in the experimental class. If Chen Yuan couldn't do that, then all the teachers' resources would be concentrated in the experimental class, and Chen Yuan's grades would only stagnate.

"Why, why is no one on my side?!" Chen Yuan shouted at the sky. Su Xia, who was next to her, did not stop her, but just watched her quietly.

Chen Wenwei rolled his eyes and then said to Chen Yuan, "You're so noisy."

Lin Mohan sighed from the side, "I thought if I studied hard I could go to the same high school as Su Xia, but I didn't expect you to take off so quickly, Su Xia."

"If you study hard and try to get into the city's No. 1 High School, you'll have a bright future if you get into a good university," Su Xia said to Lin Mohan.

"At this point, I want to ask you a question, Su Xia: do you want to go to Tsinghua University or Peking University?" Lin Mohan looked at Su Xia, hoping she would answer seriously.

"I don't want to. These two top universities aren't places I can just choose to attend." Su Xia hadn't even considered Lin Mohan's question. If she were a child, she might have fantasized about it, but now she was certainly realistic.

"Tsk tsk tsk, even the great Su Xia is so conservative, then I have to change my target." Seeing that Su Xia didn't even consider these two universities, Lin Mohan suddenly felt that his guess was also unlikely.

"Did you originally want to go to Tsinghua University or Peking University?" Su Xia glanced at Lin Mohan after hearing his question.

“Hua Qing!” Lin Mohan’s matter-of-fact expression made Chen Wenwei and Chen Yuan laugh.

"But when I was little, I did naively think about whether I should go to Tsinghua University or Peking University." Chen Yuan returned to Su Xia's side and sat on the grass, looking at the sky.

"Yeah, I remember you said you'd go to whichever school offered the most money." Chen Wenwei nodded, directly revealing Chen Yuan's embarrassing past.

“Hey, you’re no different. You go to whichever school sends you an excavator.” Chen Yuan retorted, directly quoting Chen Wenwei.

"Hahaha, I never expected you to be so childish, Lao Wei." Lin Mohan laughed mercilessly.

“I think no matter which university you want to go to, you have to do well on the exams. If you have good grades, you can choose any university; if you have bad grades, you can choose any university.” Su Xia said this, which made the three of them nod in agreement.

"Su Xia, Chen Yuan, don't forget about me and Lao Wei when you go to the Provincial No. 1 High School!"

"It's not like we're not coming back. We'll visit you at the No. 1 Middle School during the holidays."

"It's a deal, and you can't go back on your word."
