Rebirth to Save Myself

Su Xia slept for a full twelve hours before waking up. When she did, the view outside the window was a dazzling display of colorful lights; Chen Yuan was not in the room, she must have gone to eat.

Su Xia sat by the window, gazing at the scenery outside, lost in thought. She had already lived in this world for ten years. During this time, she had completed the curriculum up to junior high school through self-study, altered the life trajectories of Su Yue and Su Yaoche, met Chen Yuan (who didn't exist in her previous life), and even had the good fortune to become the Chen family's goddaughter. To make the most of this goddaughter title, she also offered some advice to Chen Jianguo's business, further enriching his assets.

"What delicious food did you pack for me?" Su Xia smiled, got up and walked to Chen Yuan's side to take the bag from her hand.

"Clear broth noodles, easy to digest." Chen Yuan plopped down on the bed, watching Su Xia return to the window, open the package, and start eating the noodles. She ate in small bites; the noodles weren't so hot anymore, but she didn't gulp them down just because she was hungry.

Soon, Su Xia finished her bowl of noodles, cleaned up the trash and threw it in the trash can, then said to Chen Yuan, "Tour guide Chen, what are our sightseeing plans for tomorrow?"

"Hehe, the Forbidden City."

"Hmm, not a bad choice. We can also get a photo taken in the style of an empress."

"Yeah, I think so too. I really liked the look in the previous TV series."

The next day, the four of them got up very early and queued up to go to the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is very large, and except for the areas that were not open to the public, the four of them really explored the entire place. At the end, they even went to the clothing rental place to get some outfits to take photos.

“Then let me help Your Highness,” said Father Chen from the side.

Su Xia and Chen Yuan both chose relatively simple princess outfits. The four of them happily went to various places to take pictures until Chen's father's camera ran out of battery, at which point they reluctantly left.

That evening, the four of us went to eat a special copper hot pot with mutton. The mutton slices coated in sesame sauce were incredibly satisfying. Before we knew it, we had eaten several plates of mutton. Only then, with our stomachs full, did we return to the hotel and discuss climbing the Great Wall the next day.

Su Xia wrapped herself up from head to toe, which made Chen Yuan laugh so hard she rolled around on the bed. While rolling, she said, "Xia Xia, you'll be burning up before we even reach the Great Wall dressed like that."

Su Xia looked at Chen Yuan's noticeably darker skin and shook her head, saying, "I'd rather die from the heat than die from being tanned."

“What’s wrong with black? Black represents health and strength,” Chen Yuan retorted to Su Xia’s point of view with dissatisfaction.

“Yes, we have different ideas about the dark side, and I didn’t expect you to think the same way as me, right?” Su Xia looked at Chen Yuan and continued, “It’s normal for everyone to have different ideas, but what’s abnormal is that you think other people’s ideas are wrong and still expect them to think the same way as you.”

"Huh?" Chen Yuan didn't react for a moment, wondering what Su Xia meant.

"Think carefully back to what I said," Su Xia patiently reminded her.

"I don't understand, I'll think about it slowly."

The next day, Chen Yuan brought up the question while having breakfast. She still didn't quite understand, so she hoped to get a new perspective from her parents.

Chen Jianguo was surprised to hear these words from Su Xia. Su Xia sometimes seemed very mature, or even more so. When you make friends, do you prefer people with similar personalities to yours, or whose views are similar to yours?"

"But even if you and Xiaxia are good friends, you can't guarantee that Xiaxia's thoughts are the same as yours, right?"

Chen Yuan thought about it carefully and realized that it was indeed the case. Sometimes, things she thought were unnecessary, Su Xia thought were very important. Sometimes, she thought doing something was acceptable, but Su Xia disagreed. However, this didn't stop her from being good friends with Su Xia and playing together.

"So that's how making friends is. You can only agree on the big picture, but you can't strive for complete agreement. What Xiaxia meant was that you need to know that these differences exist and you need to accept and understand them. Even if you don't agree with what others do, you can't force them to give up their ideas and agree with you." Chen Jianguo said a long speech, then picked up the soy milk beside him and drank it.

“Even your dad and I have disagreements, and you and I sometimes disagree too. How can you guarantee that you will find someone exactly like you who will have no disagreements?” Chen Chunqi added from the side.

“I understand, but I don’t fully understand yet,” Chen Yuan said.

"It's okay, you can think about it slowly." Su Xia comforted Chen Yuan, and the four of them set off to climb the Great Wall after finishing breakfast.
