Rebirth: Making a Fortune in Ancient Times

Chapter 12 Space Well Water That Can Promote Plant Growth

After lunch, Xia Yu made an excuse to take a nap and went to her room. She locked the door and slipped into her spatial dimension. She planned to plant some more *Anoectochilus roxburghii* (golden thread lotus) there. She didn't recognize any other herbs; it was currently her only source of income, and she couldn't give it up until she found other sources of income.

Xia Yu, holding a small shovel she had brought from outside, dug out a few seedlings of *Anoectochilus roxburghii* and planted them. She also sorted and planted some wild vegetables in different sections. Looking around her little space, Xia Yu felt a deep sense of security. She glanced at the few lush green trees, still so green, showing no signs of flowering or fruiting, and wondered what kind they were.

After looking around, Xia Yu felt that the space was missing too much. She wanted to turn it into her own little manor. If there was a small house with a bed, table, and chairs, and a small stove to boil water, she could eat, sleep, and drink tea here. Just thinking about it made her feel wonderful.

As she prepared to leave, Xia Yu looked at the mud on her hands, then went to the pool to wash them clean, and then washed her face in the pool. Some water got on her lips while washing her face, and she licked it; it tasted slightly sweet. She then walked to the ancient well where water was gushing out, scooped up a handful of water, and drank it. It was indeed very delicious, clear and sweet, much better than the well water they usually drank. However, she dared not drink too much at once, fearing that the well water might have some magical effects, and if she drank too much and the effects were too obvious, it would be difficult to explain to her family. Thinking for a moment, she then scooped up water from the pool and sprinkled it on the golden thread lotus and wild vegetables she had just planted. However, since the wild vegetables were planted separately, some were quite far from the pool, and by the time she carried the water over, most of it had leaked out. Last time, after planting those things, she hadn't watered them, and within half a day, a large patch had sprouted. She wondered what difference it would make this time, after sprinkling the space well water.

After doing all this, Xia Yu left the space and lay on the bed, intending to take a nap. She was going up the mountain in the afternoon, otherwise there would be no reason to take out the golden thread lotus from the space.

Perhaps because she had slept too much on the way back, Xia Yu tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. Glancing at the sky outside, the sun was already setting, probably around three o'clock in the afternoon. Xia Yu put on her shoes, got out of bed, and prepared to head up the mountain now.

Xia Yu found Liu Shi, who was working in the main room, and said to her: Mother, I'm going up the mountain to dig wild chives. You can make dumplings for us tonight.

"Pfft..." Madam Liu couldn't help but laugh, looking at her daughter's rosy cheeks, she said, "So greedy you're not even taking your afternoon nap? Your brother just went to sleep, when he wakes up, have him come with you."

"Mother..." Xia Yu drawled as she called out, "I'm not so much hungry that I can't sleep. I just slept on the way back and now I can't sleep, so I thought I'd go up the mountain to dig some chives. Let my brother sleep; I'll go dig them myself. I know where they are."

"Then be careful and come back soon."

"Okay, it's not like it's my first time going up the mountain by myself, don't worry," Xia Yu said, carrying her little basket and shovel as she headed out.

Following the path she had taken up the mountain before, Xia Yu didn't go too far. Instead, she walked diagonally to the side of the path where there was no road. She carried a stick in her hand, just like Chang Yun, and tapped the grass as she walked. After walking a short distance, Xia Yu looked around and didn't find anyone else. She then chose a place where the weeds were relatively lush and entered the space. As soon as she entered, she was stunned by the scene inside.

"This is too fast! The golden thread lotus and wild vegetables she planted in the space have already grown to a larger area than last time. How long has it been? Half an hour? And right before her eyes, they are breaking through the soil, growing seedlings, growing taller, and becoming mature plants at a speed visible to the naked eye. Then, new seedlings, growing taller, and becoming mature plants appear on the empty ground next to them. The plants on the land of the entire space are growing at this geometric speed. The space the size of a football is almost half occupied by these plants, especially the golden thread lotus that is sprinkled with a lot of well water."

She hurriedly used her mind to control their growth, then uprooted all the plants according to their different varieties and arranged them in piles.

Looking at the small mountain of golden thread lotus in front of her, Xia Yu was a little worried. She wondered how a small town could possibly consume so many herbs. She'd have to ask Baohetang next time she went, and also inquire at the other two clinics. If all else failed, she'd have to sell them in the county town. It seemed the space water could accelerate plant growth, but its benefits to humans were still unclear, perhaps due to the small amount consumed. Long-term observation was needed.

After lingering in the spatial dimension for a while, feeling that the time was about right, Xia Yu exited and reappeared in the overgrown grass where she had been before. She had crouched down when she came out, so she remained crouched in the grass in the same position after exiting the spatial dimension. Carefully observing her surroundings and making sure no one was around, she stood up, carrying her basket on her back, and headed home. The basket was filled entirely with golden thread lotus from her spatial dimension, covered with wild chives, making it look like a basket full of wild chives.

I ran into Granny Wang from the village as soon as I came down the mountain. She was carrying a basket and had a square scarf wrapped around her head. She looked like she had also gone into the mountains to dig for wild vegetables.

"Grandma Wang, why didn't Daya come up the mountain with you?" Xia Yu greeted Granny Wang first.

Seeing that it was Xia Yu, Granny Wang laughed, "It's Xia Xia! Don't mention that brat, she's always like a wild boy, probably off raiding bird nests with her brother again." Then, seeing the wild chives almost sprouting in Xia Yu's basket, she said, "Xia Xia, did you dig up the chives' old nest? Why are you so full? These chives don't keep well, they'll turn into old leaves if you don't finish them."

"Hehe, I was so happy to see so many chives that I forgot about these." After saying that, he grabbed a large handful of chives from the basket and put them into Granny Wang's basket: "Grandma Wang, take some back with you, these are good for making vegetable pancakes."

Old Wang didn't stand on ceremony. She reached into her basket and grabbed a handful of wild celery to give to Xia Yu, who quickly dodged and waved her hand, saying, "We can't finish it all! We have too much chives, enough for our family. You can take this celery home; I know Da Ya loves it." Without waiting for Old Wang to say anything more, she picked up her basket and ran off.

Granny Wang glanced at the wild celery she hadn't given away, then at Xia Yu's retreating figure, and sighed, "That girl runs pretty fast." Then she took the leeks and celery home. She had an eighty-year-old mother-in-law, her aunt, who also surnamed Wang. Everyone in the village called her Granny Wang. Thinking that her mother-in-law had been having difficulty using the toilet these past few days, she figured the wild leeks Xia Yu had given her would be perfect for making some vegetable pancakes for her, which would help with urination.
